News and notes from around the interweb:
- Hotel wifi should no longer require web browser authentication because too many smart devices we carry don’t have web browsers.
- American Airlines has entertainment systems with cameras too but don’t worry not only haven’t they been activated, American is in the process of removing seat back entertainment from domestic flights anyway.
He’s Watching You - How to travel to India it’s one of the few places where you should eat in hotels. I love the Middle Eastern restaurant Souk at the Taj Palance Mumbai and the Chinese restaurant at the Grand Hyatt.
Gateway of India, Mumbai - Chase guarantees is will close a mortgage in 21 days or they’ll give you $1000. Since they could barely close mine in 45 days, realized the day before closing that they’d forgotten to verify my employment, and didn’t have funds available at closing call me.. skeptical. But $1000 is really just marketing money. There were promos I was able to stack with my mortgage worth more than that (Chase also had the lowest rate).
I figure in some sense it doesn’t matter if they hit 21 days, the $1000 is just what they’re planning to spend to get mortgage customers. And by the way this is only available if you also have another banking or credit card relationship with the bank.

- Series of robberies at New York City hotels “the men are known to have struck three times, knocking on the door of hotel rooms and then pushing themselves inside, demanding cash and valuables by threatening the lives of the hotel guests.”

What seat back screeens ? 🙂
The “no longer require web browser authentication” is absolutely idiotic.
The log in screen (proving they know me) is how the guest prevents being the victim of a man-in-the-middle attack, a type of attack that is common at places like fast food wifi.
That article you linked was really an ad for their wifi product.
That is extremely good India advice that you linked. Everyone should go to India once. Whether you go twice is a personal decision, of which I myself am on the fence.
