  1. The hypocrisy of this administration is incredulous and blisteringly insane. If the pre-testing before an interantional flight is about attempting to prevent COVID spread, then how can they justify dropping the requirement for Shanghai when the virus is raging there? It demonstrates that this is NOT about science (and never really was) but control. The lunancy of this bungling idiot in the WH continues to burn bright

  2. @Ken, you do realize that they are evacuating US citizens from Shanghai. There was no testing for repatriating flights during pandemic either. As the article says, by doing this US does highlight China’s inability to contain the spread despite zero covid policies. Don’t agree with everything about the administration, but if US citizen needs/wants to evacuate, there shouldn’t be additional hurdles.

  3. Kurt – thanks for your reply…but IF the pre-test for international travelers is ALL about prevention of COVID spreading, then there should be alternatives for the Shanghai returnees. Either quarantine them locally and administer the test there, or quarantine them stateside and administer the test here, then release upon negative test. On the other hand, IF this is NOT about prevention of COVID, then drop the test for EVERYONE, and not a select few.

Let’s not even talk about the thousands that illegally cross the border who aren’t tested at all

  4. As this is the round-up . . .

Speaking of airport lounges at LAX, it appears that Delta’s new lounge at T3 will open this week.

Concurrently, the smaller of its T2 lounges will close.

  5. You got to get your behind out of your Brian washed Texas tunnel vision and travel more. There are way more cases of COVID in the US than in Shanghai. But yeah, the US allowed COVID to kill 1 million people, and yet ~1,000 deaths a day (the current numbers) are not “raging” in your narrow provincial worldview, but a lesser number of cases per M than in the US.is “raging” because…China? So much for travel expanding minds; yours is as narrow as it gets.

  6. You can drive or walk over the US border without a test. But flying, well that’s different. Americans are so dumb. But that’s what they voted for – comical at this point that anyone who voted for dems would complain.

  7. Re Shanghai:
I have several friends living there, trust me, their testing and quarantine dictatorship is more extreme than any other testing rule in any other country.
Besides that, you cannot leave your house / apt., not even for getting to the airport! So its weird to say CDC ‘allows’ them flying without any tests, they physicially can’t do anything there. Several thousand people would love to leave their apt, because they are STARVING to death.
