Passengers Evacuated from United Flight as Emergency Crews Put Out Engine Fire

The left engine of United Express flight UA5869 from Aspen to Denver was on fire upon landing this afternoon.

Passengers onboard the SkyWest Bombardier CRJ700 were evacuated from the aircraft onto the runway and emergency crew responded to extinguish the fire.

Here’s the engine on fire on the ground:

Reportedly everyone on board was safe.

You can watch as emergency crews respond to douse the fire while passengers look on.

This appears to have been great work all around by the flight crew and by emergency responders. Grateful that all onboard are safe. We don’t yet know the cause of the incident.

  1. Great job today by the Denver Fire Department at Denver International Airport. Passengers on United Express flight UA5869 should expect to receive their charred and smoldering checked baggage later today or tomorrow.

    Well, the flight attendants do their duties of assisting passenger to exit the aircraft on that incident. I see it as they were there for the safety of passenger. Anything wrong with that?

  8. Good news no one is hurt. Good news from what has been reported so far that the staff did their jobs and the Pilots got the plane safely on the ground.
