Marriott will give you 1000 points for answering a simple question on Twitter.
What year did the current instant-replay system begin? Answer with #RewardsPoints before 8pm EST on 12/17 and score 1,000 points if you get it right. pic.twitter.com/B2sNV4K8zd

Your Marriott Rewards and Twitter accounts need to be connected of course, but they give you points for that too.
For the Googlely-challenged they’re looking for ‘1999 #RewardsPoints’.
1999 #RewardsPoints

Bear in mind that points earned via social don’t extend the expiration date of your account. And also that Marriott points transfer 3:1 into Starwood Preferred Guest.
I connected my accounts and did all things necessary to earn these points, and Marriott deletes them all, the next day? I haven’t stayed at Marriott in 10 years. This treatment will cause me to never stay with them! I avoided Marriott because of the Mormon connection, now I will avoid them because they are crooked and deceitful !!!
Surprised I have not received any points for the 1999 answer. I answered as soon as the question went live this morning.
Actually, this answer needed to have been provided Sunday before 8:30 pm to earn the points.
According to Marriott Rewards, if your account doesn’t have point earning activity in the last 24 months, you cannot earn these connection points or challenge question points. This is opposite of the Reward Points t and c page, which explicitly says one can open an account and then earn these bonus points. When the time comes I will drain my SPG account and then be done with Marriott.
I really think all the bloggers that post about Marriott Rewards Points should lay out all the rules. These point bonuses are only for current customers, not new ones or old ones who have not stayed in 24 months. Furthermore, transferring points back and forth to SPG or Marriott Rewards does not count as activity. Purchasing points would be activity, but why should anyone buy points in a program that treats customers so poorly?
Again Gary, you can criticize Hilton all you want, but Hilton never just awarded me points and then took the points back.
“I connected my accounts and did all things necessary to earn these points, and Marriott deletes them all, the next day?”
Can anyone confirm that you lose the points if you delete your tweets? I think I lost 2000 points by deleting two of these tweets from November. But I am not 100% sure.
“Surprised I have not received any points for the 1999 answer. I answered as soon as the question went live this morning.”
Seems they were a day or so late this week in awarding points.
