A restaurant in central China has apologised for encouraging diners to weigh themselves and then order food accordingly.
The policy was introduced after a national campaign against food waste was launched.
…President Xi Jinping ignited the campaign this week, calling the levels of national food wastage “shocking and distressing”.
Following Mr Xi’s message, the Wuhan Catering Industry Association urged restaurants in the city to limit the number of dishes served to diners – implementing a system where groups have to order one dish fewer than the number of diners.
State TV also criticised livestreamers who filmed themselves eating large amounts of food.
- Singapore Airlines is blocking partner airlines from booking award seats, though you can still redeem trips using Singapore’s own KrisFlyer miles. The explanation is, apparently, Covid-related. (HT: Loyalty Lobby)
Singapore Airlines has removed access to award travel due to the complexities of enforcing global travel restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic. We anticipate that access will be restored beginning September 1, 2020.
- I’ve been told that Chris Matyszczyk is known at American Airlines for basically rewriting my blog posts. At least he used to link to them when he did that. Last week I wrote about getting free name changes on American Airlines tickets. Now that he’s writing at ZDNet it seems to me he must just be reading this blog and riffing on the contents without attribution. Sad.
