News and notes from around the interweb:
- The plastic surgery recovery floor at Marriott’s SLS Beverly Hills
- Etihad bonds funding air berlin and Alitalia stakes fall 99% despite previous expectation of a bailout of the obligations by the airline.
- South Dakota just bought Governor Kristi Noem a new plane, but it’s a prop rather than a jet some thought she wanted. Trump Force One it isn’t! The new plane cost just $4.5 million, and replaces the 32 year old aircraft Noem normally travels in,
[T]he state had closed on a 2015 Beechcraft King Air 350 using a $5 million appropriation authorized by lawmakers last winter.
…The plane that Noem usually uses, a 1988 King Air 200, features ashtrays, a leaky coffee dispenser and overhead panels that discharge face masks if touched too heavily.
- Never wear shorts on a plane.

“never wear shorts” is kind of hilarious – the average temperature on a plane is about 115 degrees. I’ll accept whatever germs can go from a cloth seat to the back of my legs as a tradeoff for not catching fire.
@David – agreed.
Most states own some sort of aircraft for the governor. South Dakota is a pretty big place based on my many drives across it. The Kingair is one of the safest private planes out there. I remember Mel Carnahan in Missouri getting killed in a twin-engine Cessna which is also noted as a safe plane. I bet if you research you will find many politicians that have died in plane crashes over the past 100 years.
The day I worry about some unseen germs on the back of my lower legs is the day the germs have won.
