Boeing 737 Broke Apart After Overrunning Runway In Istanbul

A Pegasus Airlines Boeing 737 touched down in bad weather at Istanbul’s second airport (Sabiha, code SAW) after flying from Izmur, Turkey. Flight PC 2193 overran runway 6 and hit the airport’s perimeter wall. The plane broke into 3 parts. An engine that separated caught fire.

There were 183 passengers and crew on board. It took nearly five hours to free everyone from the wreckage. One person is reported to have perished, and 157 taken to area hospitals. All six crew on board were injured.

A Boeing 737 Either Did – Or Did Not – Crash Today

A government-owned Ariana Afghan Airlines Boeing 737 operating a domestic Kandahar – Kabul flight reportedly has crashed in the country’s central Ghazni province, in Taliban-controlled territory around 1:25 p.m. local time on Monday. That’s according to a provincial government spokesperson, and confirmed by the country’s Second Vice President. Local reports suggest 83 souls on board.

The airline, however, denies this.

In Midst Of Heightened Tensions Boeing 737 Crashes In Iran

Ukraine International Airlines flight PS753 from Tehran to Kiev crashed into an open field in a Tehran suburb minutes after departure. The three year old Boeing 737-800 with 176 souls on board ceased broadcasting from its transponder as it climbed through 8000 feet.

Several Iranian sources and a Dubai-based news agency reported the cause as an accidental missile strike although it is too early to offer any conclusions. Initial reporting on such incidents is often wrong.

Plane Got Stuck Under A Bridge, Officials Had To Figure Out How To Get Break It Loose

In the fall an Airbus A320 got stuck under a bridge in Harbin, China. The quick thinking truck driver carrying the plane managed to break it free by deflating his tires.

Now images of a plane getting stuck in Durgapur, West Bengal, India are going viral and deflating the tires wasn’t enough. Officials were called in and they “had to get rid of the tyres” in order to free the plane and get the truck moving again. It had to be “pushed out with the help of another truck.”

Icelandair Fires 45 Boeing 737 MAX Pilots

The world airline trade group IATA says the Boeing 737 MAX could fly again in August. Not everyone is so sure. Different countries’ regulators are taking different approaches, though the US is pushing for many countries to re-certify the plane at the same time — and quickly.

Icelandair has leased aircraft to pick up the slack for grounded 737 MAXs, and in a move that reveals a shocking lack of confidence in the aircraft returning to their skies any time soon the airline has let go of 45 Boeing 737 MAX pilots.
