Delta Fires Back At Alaska-American Airlines Partnership With New Seattle Service

Mar 02 2020

Delta has announced new routes and flights out of Seattle showing that they aren’t going to take American’s re-invigorated partnership with Alaska Airlines lying down.

Competition is good, and has been great for Seattle residents since Delta and Alaska began their breakup and Delta built up their own hub at the Pacific Northwest airport. Delta will grow their Seattle service to 190 peak daily departures to 56 destinations for summer 2020, with new service coming beyond that as well.

Delta Air Lines Offers Reason To Be Optimistic About Coronavirus

Feb 27 2020

If you’re looking for green shoots in the coronavirus story, here’s one from Delta: even as there’s concerning news this morning about a person in California contracting the virus without having had recent international travel or having been known to come into contact with someone who was infected, there’s some indication that business in China is recovering.

At least Delta Air Lines cargo thinks so.

Delta Claims They’ll Be Carbon Neutral Starting Next Month, And I’m… Skeptical

Ultimately this is long on narrative, and in the near-term relies mostly on buying carbon offsets which are questionable in effectiveness and limited in supply (if every company wanted to fully offset there wouldn’t be nearly enough opportunity to go around, so Delta is in some sense just bidding up the price of offsets that will be taking place anyway).

Noble goals, and surely they’ll make progress towards those goals, but the claim that they’ll be a carbon neutral airline next month is dubious to say the least.

Delta Agent Delivers A Message Of Hope To Passengers Mourning Kobe Bryant

Jan 30 2020

A Delta Air Lines agent at New York JFK spoke to passengers waiting to board for Los Angeles shortly after learning about the death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter and the rest of the passengers on board a helicopter on Sunday.

The agent, Courtney, implored passengers to cherish the people most important to them in their lives. She told them “if there is someone you haven’t spoken to today, call them. If there is someone you haven’t reached out to in a while, call them” — and not to text, “We’ve got to pick the phone up.”

Delta Introducing New Domestic First Class Seat

Jan 27 2020

Delta is introducing a new domestic first class seat which will be introduced with its Airbus A321neo. They have 100 on order and begin taking delivery later this year.

This new Recaro seat has better privacy because of the shields that protrude from the side of the seats. There’s also improved storage at the front of the seats in the center and a larger tray table. With these seats Delta continues their practice of conveniently placing power outlets in front of passengers instead of making customers contort themselves to find and plug in their devices.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian Gave a CES Keynote: What Tech Changes Did He Reveal?

Jan 07 2020

Delta has been promoting their CEO Ed Bastian’s keynote at the Computer Electronics Show as a Really Big DealTM, the ‘first airline’ to do such a thing, as though that suggested on its own that Delta is a leader in technology. At CES you find virtual reality, 8k TVs and next gen wearable devices. And Delta has tech to unveil that’s so big it’s a keynote at the conference. Given the prominence of the forum and the buildup, what did he reveal? Free inflight wi-fi someday, with no specifics. They say this is an area where other airlines have struggled although of course JetBlue offers free wifi and American has just been waiting to see what Delta announces so they can copy it. Biometrics in partnership with the government to track you throughout your journey.…
