Terrorists Dancing on a Plane: How to Get an FAA Investigation Opened in 3 Easy Dance Steps

Mark Twain may or may not have said,

Sing like no one’s listening, love like you’ve never been hurt, dance like nobody’s watching, and live like its heaven on earth.

Although it was certainly Nietzsche who said, “I would believe only in a God that knows how to dance.”

And Martha & The Vandellas might have sung about “Dancing in the Streets.”

But you’d better watch out dancing in the aisles of an aicraft.

The FAA has opened an investigation of passengers dancing on a plane.

The students – members of Colorado College’s club Frisbee team – made a video of the performance, and that’s what caught the attention of the FAA.

“That was my Ultimate Frisbee team and a bunch of random people as well,” 21-year-old senior team captain Dan Eppstein tells the Los Angeles Times about the episode. “Everyone who was on that flight joined in.”

Eppstein says his group consulted with attendants before the performance, saying they gave students permission. He says the group also canvassed other passengers and said none objected.

Frontier Airlines say “All safety measures were followed and the seat belt sign was off.”

Why, then, is there concern? Those ultimate frisbee players might have been terrorists!

Steve Wallace, former director of the FAA’s Office of Accident Investigation, disagreed in an interview with CNN.

“I think there is a safety issue here. Turbulence injuries are the most common type of injuries, and they are virtually eliminated when people are in their seat belts,” he says to the news network.

He also suggested it could be used as a ruse by terrorists.

My own guess? Dancing is actually a shibboleth, terrorists aren’t coordinating trendy dance routines, and we’d all be better off if the TSA would require us to dance at security checkpoints instead of having us walk through nude-o-scopes.

It’s a good thing the FAA hasn’t seen videos of the MegaDO charter flights

  1. We will have to wait 4 hours at TSA security so they can continue to investigate dancing threats.

  2. The dancing wouldn’t bother but what makes me suspicious is that this wasn’t on a Southwest flight.

I also have a phobia about being on airplanes with athletic teams or rock bands.

  3. In this day of flying best to be quiet and sit still. Save the dance for the airport

  4. Jesus H Christ. Does the FAA have nothing better to do?

    On the other hand…Frontier FTW!

  5. If anyone saw my attempts to dance, they might believe I was a terrorist…of course my extreme lack of coordination would probably assure them I wouldn’t be able to successfully attack anyone either!

  6. Curious why the FAA didn’t send YouTube a “DMCA Take Down Notice”, or arrest Eric Schmidt, Serio Brin or Larry Page for “hosting terrorist activities”.

Didn’t VP Candidate in the debate say that all of this started from “a video posted on YouTube” like the Benghazi incident.

Damn, that Google/YouTube, always causing trouble (and collecting cash from it stashed in Bermuda). lol.

  7. Withe the sequester coming i cant believe FAA is wasting money investigating this. Well at least i know where they can afford the cuts.

  8. @CDKing what I was thinking too! A bunch of kids dancing and that is a problem??? People take themselves too seriously.

  9. Excellent post Ben….the gubment is on the brink of a so-called mini meltdown, and the FAA, who is about to be a victim of that meltdown, is spending resources on this B.S. instead of doing actual work.

now lemme see you way wave and say “Proud to be American”

  10. Anyone on the MegaDo would know that their mistake was doing this on a single-aisle aircraft…

  11. The first kid is wearing a helmet! Apparently he was worried about getting a turbulence injury!

  12. i would ban all these idiots from flying again and give them 6 months jail for this stupid act

  13. Personally, I think everyone doing the “harlem shake” in public should be arrested for the crime of perpetuating one of the lamest, least entertaining, and most hugely annoying memes of the last 42 years. It’s not even really the Harlem Shake dance! And it makes the Gangnam dance, cats playing piano, and “Never Gonna Give You Up” look like uber-high-art.

So yeah, the FAA may be a bunch of uptight peeps, but I have zero sympathy for the “dancers” on the plane in this case :p

  14. Where have you been? Have you never heard of the current Department of Defence program air dropping sedative-laden mice over Guam? Don’t you thing we should run all those rats out of Washington before we fly mice to Guam?

“Withe the sequester coming i cant believe FAA is wasting money investigating this (Plane Dancing). Well at least i know where they can afford the cuts.”
