The TSA missed a can of bear spray going through the checkpoint. But after clearing security a passenger realized it was in their bag and threw it away. A custodian accidentally set it off.
“After reviewing security camera footage DPS identified the irritant source and the individuals involved,” the airport investigation report stated. “A passenger realized bear spray was in their backpack after leaving the TSA security checkpoint and discarded it in a trash can prior to boarding their plane. Video footage shows the custodian going through the trash, locating the bear spray, and inadvertently activating the canister.”
Since this happened on Concourse C, Southwest’s flights were affected over the weekend. As if the Dallas-based carrier hasn’t had bad enough luck these past few months.
Meanwhile an actual bear made it through security at a Russian airport. There’s a giant teddy bear sculpture in the Doha airport. An Alaska Airlines flight landed on a bea. And airport operations in Barrow, Alaska had to be halted due to polar bears on a taxiway – which workers couldn’t shoo away since they’re a protected species.
This story is un-Bear-able.
Just bear in mind that VFW will write about anything.
Now I’ll finish my breakfast, Just Bearly
“By the time we got into Tulsa Town
We had eighty-five trucks in all
But they’s a roadblock up on the cloverleaf
And them bears was wall-to-wall
Yeah, them smokies is thick as bugs on a bumper
They even had a bear in the air
