This May Be The Worst Hotel Guest Ever, Or At Least The One With The Worst Aim

A business traveler from Virginia checked into the Holiday Inn Express & Suites York in Pennsylvania and returned to room 217 drunk on Friday. He took out his 9 millimeter pistol. And he fired it in the room.

The bullet “went through the room of a sleeping man and an elevator lobby before nearly striking a woman in the parking lot.”

The bullet from Dietzel’s Keltec P-11 handgun went through the wooden door of his hotel room, across the elevator lobby area, through a wall, and then through Room 214, where a man was sleeping at the time…The noise woke him up…The bullet then crashed through an exterior window of Room 214 “and is believed to have traveled across the rear parking lot and within the vicinity of” the woman who reported that someone had fired at her.

He’s been charged with “third-degree felony of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, two counts of misdemeanor reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct” and is free on $5000 bail.

He had worked until midnight and then started drinking. By the time police arrived, investigated him, and gave him a breathalyzer he still blew a 0.18. He admitted to accidentally firing the weapon, and also that he “hid the remaining nine live rounds in a tissue box in the bathroom.”

  1. ‘MERICA!!!!

    I thank my lucky stars
    To be living here today
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can’t take that away
And I’m proud to be an American
Where at least I know I’m free!!!

Only in the good ole USA!!! FREEDOM!

  2. Interesting that he would be having target ammo in his weapon — if he had self-defense rounds, they wouldn’t have penetrated that many layers. Then again, since most S-D rounds are in short supply, maybe that’s all he could find.

  3. While I’m not against gun ownership, I’m completely against stupid gun ownership. I have a strong suspicion that some very basic tests including reasonable emotional stability and sanity would have proven too much for this guy, which would have prevented this incident.

  4. Anyone who thinks its a good idea to handle loaded firearms while intoxicated really shouldn’t be allowed to own a firearm.

  5. UA-NYC says “ Gun owners are some of our finest Darwin Award winners here in ‘Murica”

And you sir are one of our finest reasons why at least a High School Education is still needed in order to learn how to spell “America” and in order not to make idiotic comments!

  6. @CMorgan: “High School Education” isn’t capitalized. I learnt that in ‘Merken ‘mentary skool.
