Unlock Global Lounge Access for $149: Royal Jordanian’s Status Match Deal

Many European readers will love, love, love this – and also those in the Mideast. Royal Jordanian is offering a status match and it means benefits including lounge access when you fly American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, Qatar and more.

Bottom-line on this deal, think $149 for 12 months of lounge access and airport priority when you travel with any oneworld airline. With American Airlines, Royal Jordanian Gold gets you not just Admirals Club access (now as much as $850 per year for membership) but also Flagship Lounge access even on domestic itineraries. There are Flagship lounges in Chicago, Dallas, Miami, and Los Angeles.

Key details of the offer:

  • This is a StatusMatch.com offer and is paid. US$49 for Silver and US$149 for Gold matches. Silver doesn’t get much, Gold gets quite a lot. I am focused only on Gold in this discussion.
  • Status lasts 12 months. Gold Sparrow status, which is oneworld sapphire, normally requires flying 40,000 miles or 30 segments to earn the first time and 30,000 miles or 26 segments to maintain. Members receive an annual upgrade on Royal Jordanian flights; immigration fast track; lounge access; excess baggage; and airport priority (check-in, boarding, waitlist, baggage).
  • Offer requires residence in one of: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Netherlands, Oman, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Syria, Turkey and UAE. They will request proof such as passport or drivers license.

  1. What does “They are matching against the following airline status” mean? Must I already have one of the status levels in the “Gold Sparrow” column in order to purchase Gold Sparrow on Jordanian?

  2. @Alex — Unless you want to create fake identity documents and have a ton of legal exposure, I would just say that this is not for the USA market.

  3. Not for thr US market…

We are used to getting far less for far far more.

    US Domestic air sucks.

  4. Thanks for making me waste my time reading this to see it is not for the USA market at the very end. Why not just say that in the article title? Clickbait.

  5. Israel was left off your list of countries, however it’s included on https://rj.statusmatch.com/
Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Netherlands, Oman, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Syria, Turkey and UAE.

  6. Interesting. May be of interest to my wife who will likely lose her Platinum (OW Sapphire) status with AA and buying up to Platinum cost ~$1,500 last year. (That’s what happens when you use your points up).
I think it’s important to understand what the purchased status does and does not get you:
Yes, lounge access, business class check-in, Fast Track security (aka Slow Track at LHR). What I don’t see this gets you is a decent boarding priority UNLESS you put your flight to your Royal Jordanian number. Which probably gets you the dreaded SSSS from TSA — just guessing. Using the AA credit cards may be the best be in that case.
*I* like that the status appears top match outside OW into Star Alliance — interesting.

  7. Won’t Royal Jordanian consider the status match request even without using a third party commercial service to seek a status match?

  8. RJ elite status loaded into reservations doesn’t result in getting hit with haraSSSSment flags when flying AA and AS from abroad or domestically.

  9. For anyone considering this, I applied and was approved in less than 24 hours. Statusmatch.com required a desktop screenshot of my frequent flyer account. A screenshot of my digital membership card did not work. I also received multiple emails to verify my identify even after successfully doing so– ignore these. Identify was verified using a selfie and passport.
