News and notes from around the interweb:
- General Manager of the Atlanta airport was fired, ostensibly over security checkpoint delays. I hope the airport had the foresight to call Delta first or else the airline might choose to end its sponsorship. (It’s a good thing the airport just signed Delta to a new lease!)
- After bungling the rollout of 4pm elite late checkout, Marriott Rewards came out with a real benefit and now has published the list of resorts and convention properties that are excluded. (HT: Loyalty Lobby)
- So I gave away a $2500 stay in Bali to a blog reader and it looks like they had a great time!
- TSA Cybersecurity: “Five years of Homeland Security audits found airport security can’t even get the basics right.” (HT: Reid F.)
- 99% of Hawaiian Airlines pilots voted to authorize a strike. That’s negotiating leverage (can’t really threaten a strike in negotiations if the pilots vote no), but also always carries the risk of spiraling out of control. And when you mess with Hawaiian Airlines operations you’re messing with honeymoons and anniversaries! (Which isn’t to say other airlines messing with my business trips aren’t a big deal, too, and yes of course the French and Germans strike far more regularly.)
- What is the exact fare class order for Delta upgrades?
- On Friday American Airlines imploded what was once its headquarters (and has long since been empty) to make way for a new campus.
Did AA really need to implode that building? I’ve got a shed in my backyard that needs to be removed…
