News and notes from around the interweb:
- With troubled Garuda Indonesia now focusing on domestic flying (where, oddly, there’s more competition) they’re now shopping for a Gulf airline partner and are talking to Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar.
- Trip report of the worst-rated hotel in Manhattan “The clerk gave me some toilet paper to use for the [dirty] shared bathrooms, and carrying it back and forth to my room was something I hadn’t experienced before at a hotel.”
- Korean Air sent out a reminder that they’ll be massively devaluing the Skypass frequent flyer program effective April.
- Hyatt’s upcoming promotion appears to have been leaked 3000 bonus points every two nights starting with your second stay, March 20 – May 26, 2023, registration required.
Cobrand cardholders should receive 500 additional points “when those nights are at participating hotels in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Hong Kong, London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, or Washington, D.C.” Registration should start Tuesday, with a maximum of 45,000 bonus points to be earned through this offer.
- Hot towels and mixed nuts return to United Airlines domestic first class on March 6
- If you ever give up on Marriott Bonvoy and need to burn the last of your points you can redeem 6000 points for $13.97 white tea body lotion which is less than a quarter of a cent per point. Thanks, Marriott! In fairness, they’ve marked down the points price to buy bars of soap and you can get almost half a cent per point that way.
- Bilt Rewards sent Platinum members a gift. Platinum is earned after 100,000 points in a calendar year.
Obviously this young woman rented a hotel room without looking at reviews. Who would do that?
OK, OK, just “NO,” to the BGH. But I’d have to ask whether that rather articulate young woman was just naive about getting a room there.
[redacted -gl] The woman clearly wrote that she had read and was aware of the negative reviews, that she is in fact a NYC resident, and her stay in this hotel was for journalistic inquiry.
