News and notes from around the interweb:
- If Hampton Inn got a splash of light purple and an amateurish font.
- Bodycam footage from when Odell Beckham, Jr. was removed from an American Airlines flight
- “BA’s Club [business class] delivers up to 3.8% (7 minutes) more sleep per passenger than Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class.”
- Good thread on what travel in China is like now, basically back to normal pre-Covid. (I’d separately note though, that basically every day the most flight cancellations in the world are in China and by a lot.)
First road trip in a while. I'm near Lishui in Zheijiang this morning, where I tried taking an early-morning timelapse.
Sadly Ctrip photos did not reveal the hotel to be in a construction zone beforehand, which was disappointing once light did appear. pic.twitter.com/p6261rYle5

I can’t understand it when a hotel chain plans to “target” a group with a new brand. How many normal human beings understand the difference in a hotel chains 19 brands? Answer: zero. Heck, I suspect most TRAVELLERS don’t even understand the difference between a Holiday Inn and a Holiday Inn Express. Why not just build Hampton Inns and charge guests 10 bucks more?
With British Airways and Virgin Atlantic the seat seems secondary to their rivalry to have the most frequent and most loud in-flight announcements of any airlines, from the routine to those triggered by even the smallest tremor of turbulence. My few flights on both have been marked by being jolted awake by these announcements within minutes of any time I fall asleep.
