I open the bag (it’s generally in my laptop bag) and turn it off. Here she didn’t want the whole cabin to see what she was turning off, so she walked off the aircraft and back onto the jet bridge. This is more common than you’d think, in fact it is a frequent prank at TSA checkpoints. Here, a father packed a foot long sex toy and lube in his son’s carry on bag. TSA is gonna flag the lube if it’s over 100 milliliters! Dad sent his son through the checkpoint, and hijinks ensue.

Reminds me of getting a car at Reykjavik airport. We’re checking the car out for dents, scratches, whatever. It’s December. It’s dark. It’s cold. We just wanted to get on the road. Started the car and there was a weird sound coming from the trunk area and we thought something was surely wrong with the car and who needs a malfunctioning car in a foreign country. Got the agent who ‘didn’t hear a thing’. Probably because of the howling wind. Lucky for us. Got to our hotel and the sound followed us in. It was my electric shaver in my suitcase. Since then: always remove batteries from devices.
