The Worst Bird Strike I’ve Ever Seen

I’ve seen entire planes full of falcons but this is something entirely different.

A falcon attacked a Boeing 737 and from the looks of things it nearly won.

The Badr Airlines 737-500 flying a domestic run from Damazin Airport to Khartoum was apparently on final approach “when a falcon impacted the aircraft’s radome” and the falcon’s remains actually made it “inside the aircraft’s nose causing internal structural damage.” Here’s what the internal damage looked like. The plane landed safely in Khartoum.

From the looks of things the 737 collided with a Falcon business jet — or the Millenium Falcon — not a bird.

  1. Worst you’ve ever seen? Remember Flight 1549? That one seemed pretty bad. Did you see the brand new Kalitta 747 that was destroyed by a bird in Brussels? Or how about the AWACS incident that killed 24 people? Also pretty bad. Maybe the 1960 BOS strike that killed 60 people?

  2. Co-Pilot: That’s no moon…it’s a 737.
Pilot: It’s too big to be a 737.
Co-Pilot: I have a very bad feeling about this.
