Star Alliance member Austrian Airlines is launching Los Angeles – Vienna service on April 10. The flight will be operated by a Boeing 777-200 five times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) and then will go six times weekly June 12 (Monday through Saturday).

This morning One Mile at a Time wrote that there were 6 or more business class award seats available per flight. I wasn’t seeing that space online at United.com or with a quick call to United.

However this was either user error or United not yet seeing a newly loaded flight. Space isn’t nearly as generous as reported this morning, but there are still dates with six or more business class seats per flight and availability is better if searching for just 2 or 4 seats.
It’s not available even half the time, but any time there’s six or more business class award seats available West Coast – Europe that seems notable.
Dates with 6+ seats available are dashed for business class, and have a solid line for economy
Vienna is great in its own right. You can’t quite do it in a night, or as quickly as you might walk Amsterdam, but you can see highlights on a Before Sunrise tour. (If the video below doesn’t show a preview, just hit play.)
You may not have any interest in Vienna, but you should have interest in these award seats. You can fly beyond to other destinations in Europe or even Asia.
Book with:
- United MileagePlus: 70,000 miles each way. Chase points transfer to United.
- Aeroplan: 55,000 miles each way (although if you connect to ‘Europe 2’ the price goes to 57,500). American Express points transfer to Aeroplan, but fuel surcharges are added.
- Avianca LifeMiles: 63,000 miles each way.
Austrian offers a fully flat business class product, with some of the best business class catering in the sky. Here are the basics of Austrian’s business class:
This is simply not true. I have been checking hourly all day (numerous dates) and have not seen any space on any day, economy or business, on the LAX-VIE flight on united.com.
I’m not seeing anything either – not one seat on UA.com whole schedule. It never even displays this nonstop flight at all for me.
These are showing at ANA and AC. So this is a UA issue. Not sure how to force it though…
Its all showing on UA now. Was able to book 6x business return Vienna-LAX-SFO. Thanks Gary!!
Anyone able to actually book on aeroplan.com? Errors out when I try to click through to book (as if availability had vanished, which it didn’t).
