News and notes from around the interweb:
- More credit cards are being left behind at Dublin airport (HT: uggboy on Milepoint)
- United’s Star Alliance partner Japanese Airline ANA has won out over Delta to reorganize Skymark Airlines. To gain Airbus’ support (as a creditor) for the reorganization plan, ANA will take the 2 A380s that had been headed to Skymark.
- The Points With a Crew blog is giving away Hilton points to celebrate their joining BoardingArea.com.
- Judge Insists His Own Lost Luggage Is A ‘Key’ Issue In Massive Lawsuit He’s Overseeing Against British Airways. (HT: Reid F.)
At the national finals of CEDA collegiate debate when I was a freshman (many many years ago) I needed a win in the final prelimary round of the tournament. My partner and I were arguing for aid to South Sudan to stave off Islamic fundamentalism. It was a fairly lopsided debate, and my partner did a fantastic job. However when we won because the judge “served in Desert Storm and knew” our arguments “were true” it made me very sad.
- British Airways has shifted from favoring a third runway at Heathrow to opposing it just as it appears to look politically feasible. Contra The Economist who thinks British Airways as the major tenant at Heathrow has the most to gain, I suspect that BA fears increased capacity at Heathrow would make room for competition. Not to mention that they’d be paying for the very capacity which allowed for the new competition as the $27.5 billion runway “could push up landing fees at the hub by 20%.” (HT: Carrie C.)
- United is changing up its premium cabin prearrival meal on Westbound transatlantic flights
Not sure if it’s just your blog, but the last few days when i click on the link from Boardingarea.com to your blog a pop up has been coming up that is a malicious spyware website. It gets stuck on that page and i have to shut down IE or Chrome. It’s happened to me 3 times this week when clicking on your blog and several times on other blogs. I sent a comment to the B.A. contact page but you should be aware of it.
Thanks Shaun got the report and a specialized company is looking into it.
I’m not even trying to make money on this, I told the company I didn’t want the referral could they just reduce the cost or give it to folks who sign up instead? (As I’ve done many times with special offers) But bear in mind that other blogs promote the offer too and I understand they need to create one setup that everyone works off of…
Unlike some people, I have no problem with you (or other bloggers) making money off these blogs. I would think the more cash you guys make the more effort you put into the content. As you guys get bigger I would think though that bloggers like you and Lucky and some of the other top tier BA bloggers can put a bit of pressure on BA to maybe screen their ads better. The video ones really irritate me but the spyware thing can be a real issue. Thanks.
Off topic Gary, did the New York Times get any feedback from Delta on their weekend article.
