On Saturday I wrote about wide open United Airlines award space nearly every day from Los Angeles to London in business class for four or more passengers this spring and summer.
Business class awards to Europe during peak season have been tough. It’s especially hard from the West Coast. And harder still when you’re looking for more than two seats. So this was huge. But it gets even better. There’s amazing United Airlines saver award space on numerous routes to Europe.
For instance San Francisco – Rome for two passengers is available nearly every day this summer.
There are several East Coast routes where space is available as well, now is the time to book your summer Star Alliance award travel to Europe. For instance, here’s Newark – Paris for two passengers in business class (60,000 means business class saver):
To be sure, United doesn’t have my favorite business class product but it’s fully flat with direct aisle access and the bedding is outstanding.
How to book:
- ANA Mileage Club: has the lowest cost awards at 88,000 miles roundtrip and no fuel surcharges on United redemptions. American Express points transfer to ANA but the transfers aren’t instant (usually 2 days) and the space could easily be gone by the time the points show up.
- Avianca LifeMiles: which sells miles cheap and is an Amex, Capital One and Citi points transfer partner, charges 63,000 miles each way without fuel surcharges.
- Air Canada Aeroplan: charges 70,000 points each way from the West Coast (they’re distance-based) and offers stopovers for an extra 5000 miles. Points transfer from Amex, Chase, Capital One, and Bilt. Aeroplan adds a CA$39 partner award fee (but no fuel surcharges).
- United MileagePlus: 60,000 miles each way with no fuel surcharges. Chase and Bilt points transfer to United. There are no cancel/redeposit fees.
Does United read your blog? I could not find a single flight from SFO under 145k… 🙁
Can’t reproduce any days for SFO -FCO shown above.
Can anyone else?
None for FCO
I’m seeing 90k and 100k business class awards, nothing near 60k.
Bait and switch babe.
Was able to book SFO-LHR via LAX
Aegean?
Mostly if not all “mixed cabin” award seats even at full redemption!
I was able to book 4 seats from FCO to NYC for 75k Polaris seats in mid July. Goofy routing over GVA on LX. But didn’t see much going the other direction.
Booked 2 Polaris seats from LAX to Florence (quick stops in LHR and ZRH) for 66k each. Solid find!
