News and notes from around the interweb:
- A wild rumor about American Airlines
- Former TSA Head: “toxic culture” with “terrible” morale and frequency of failures reaching a “frightening” level. Relatedly, there’s an event tonight Why doesn’t the TSA keep us safe?
- Star Alliance revamps its business program, and the signup bonus is enough for a free upgrade within Europe.
- You may be able to buy United miles at 1.9 cents using their award accelerator function (buying miles in conjunction with a ticket, of course tickets are refundable for 24 hours but the miles purchased this way are not). That’s the price they were selling miles at through their 100% bonus social promotion, and it’s a bit more than I’d be a buyer at.
- One of the odder things I’ve read on a travel blog, but.. How not to sneeze.
- A TSA toilet paper commercial Enjoy the go!

That sounds like ‘miles and points’ blogging industry, no? 😉
I’m not comfortable with the link to an unconfirmed rumor this extreme from someone called “pizzainmotion.” Curious to know if you tried to ask anyone at American Airlines? Because a poster in the comment threads claimed they did & got a response from AA saying the rumor is flat-out not true. This kind of thing can hurt real people who depend on tourism…To be fair, you did say that it was “wild.”
@Leana sure doesn’t describe me !
I said it was a wild rumor. I chose not even to repeat the details of the rumor on the blog itself. I just thought it was interesting that people were talking about this.
Pizzainmotion is not a fly-by-night poster or troll. He runs a respectable blog and often has very good-and accurate-information.
Gary,
I can beat your 1.9cpm. How about 1.86cpm plus a free mug!

@Gary Leff I actually didn’t mean you or your blog by my comment. It was mostly humorous, I promise!
