Deep Black Horizon posted an air traffic control broadcast from American Airlines flight AA2292 on Sunday.
The aircraft was flying from Cincinnati to Phoenix and at 1:19 p.m. Central time, while over the northeast corner of New Mexico at around 37,000 feet, reportedly radioed Albuquerque Center.
Do you have any targets up here? We just had something go right over the top of us – I hate to say this but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile type of thing – moving really fast right over the top of us.

American Airlines for its part tells me, “At this time, we do not have any indication the radio transmission was from the flight crew on board American Airlines Flight 2292.”
Update: American Airlines now confirms the incident, “Following a debrief with our Flight Crew and additional information received, we can confirm this radio transmission was from American Airlines Flight 2292 on Feb. 21.”
Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says the government has been hiding details of UFOs for years. Former CIA Director John Brennan thinks there may be life on other planets too. December’s Covid-19 relief bill included a directive to the Pentagon and intelligence agencies to share what they know about UFOs within 6 months. People with the highest of security clearances think there’s something out there.
‘Something’ of course doesn’t necessarily mean extraterrestrial in origin, even though New Mexico is home to Roswell… it’s also home to several military bases, though odd in that case that the airspace wouldn’t have been off limits.

The DoD utilizes a number of different airspace categories, including areas that will be “hot” when they are in use for things like aerial combat practice and gunnery activity, as well as training routes, some prohibited areas, and regions of high traffic. Many of these are not off limits to civilian aircraft on visual flight rules, though extreme caution is always warranted. In any case airliners are on instrument flight rules and would be advised and rerouted as necessary by ATC to avoid them. But most would not be on regular commercial routes anyway. Since American claims no knowledge of such a transmission the next step would be to see if ATC received this message from an airliner and if they responded. Otherwise it could be a hoax.
Proxima Centauri is the nearest star at 4.1 light years away. In theory it could be home to a planet which had intelligent life. We know that nothing in our solar system has life forms which could fly spacecraft.
But that’s an insanely long distance. The concept of anything “manmade” traveling that far is way beyond our expertise.
The issue of why they’d bother in the first place also comes to mind?
@Tom K It’s fair to say that in an infinite universe there would be many civilizations both more advanced and less. Most of what we “know” of the physical universe has occurred in just a very short period of time compared to our existence. And even our existence as a species is a blip in the timeline of our own planet.
The concept of light-years and distance is based on our current understanding. And it may very well prove accurate. But maybe not. Despite the odds we may also be one of the most advanced civilizations technologically even if we have much to learn.
The joy, for me at least, is knowing that nothing is certain. Theoretical science is so much more interesting and thought provoking than boring day to day.
As for why an advanced civilization would come here? Easy. Curiosity, adventure, commerce, to impress the female of the species. Same reasons I’ve been to 110 countries.

To Ryan. You can believe whatever it is that floats your boat. The vast majority of people think the creator of the universe sent his offspring to our stunningly insignificant speck of cosmic dust. Moreover, he did so a mere moment ago in terms of geologic time.

Why would anyone want to visit us? Possibly for the same reasons we “visit” Mars, the Moon, etc.
A Global Hawk , perhaps? They can can cruise at 60K+ feet and from an underside view at a distance might not be that different from a Tomahawk silhouette.
