American Airlines Will Now Let You Book Award And Paid Tickets Up To One Hour Before Flight

The American Airlines website and mobile app will let you book tickets until two hours prior to departure. However American has relaxed its ticketing deadlines and will now allow:

  • Purchasing domestic travel through reservations up until 60 minutes prior to flight (50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands)
  • Purchasing international travel through reservations up until 90 minutes prior to flight

This applies both to revenue tickets and to award travel sold from the U.S., and was a change that went into effect earlier this month – on or about December 3.

When issuing tickets less than two hours to departure, seat assignments won’t be assigned until the airline or online check-in. It won’t be possible to process 500 mile upgrades, mileage upgrades, or systemwide upgrades.

  1. Are they charging $75 for booking less than 21 days out?

This just might hurt nonrevving so I’m not a fan of this late ticket purchase.

  2. I am asking AA to give a break to International passengers for 2 flights per year no charge for first luggage free.
Domestic can get for every flight
