A roundup of the most important stories of the day. I keep you up to date on the most interesting writings I find on other sites – the latest news and tips.
Real Meals Have Returned To American Airlines Medium-Haul Domestic Flights
Real meals are back in American Airlines first class which is to say we no longer suffer from shrink-wrapped turkey or pimiento cheese sandwiches.
Earlier in the month hot meals returned to first class on flights of 1500 miles or longer. The roll out went surprisingly smoothly. And now meals – albeit a charcuterie plate or vegetarian sandwich on pretzel croissant at lunch – are returning to flights 900-1499 miles in distance. American is choosing to focus on the dessert.
Your Chance To Pick The Best Loyalty Programs Of The Year
This your chance to have your say on which frequent flyer programs are best.
There are awards where a panel of experts gets together to give out an award based on their own opinion. There are awards where companies pay sponsorship fees and keep winning their sponsored award. And then there’s the oldest and largest consumer-driven awards in airline, hotel and credit card loyalty: the Freddie Awards.
New Tool Searches For Award Tickets And Walks You Through Points Transfers & Booking
There’s a new award search tool that automates a lot of the hard work in putting together an award redemption, offers fairly comprehensive results, and comes at a reasonable price. You can even try it free with no commitment using promo code VFTW. There’s no benefit to me if you do, but I like the product.
$129 To Europe: New Airline PLAY Launches Seasonal Winter Service From Orlando
This seems literally insane to me. Transatlantic low cost carrier PLAY is launching seasonal winter service from Orlando International Airport to Reykjavik (Keflavik), Iceland with connections onward available to Berlin, Dublin, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, London, and Paris. They’re introducing the service with outbound pricing from $129.
American Airlines Flight Attendants Up In Arms After Snitch Rats Out Trainee For Dozing Inflight
An American Airlines flight attendant new hire was caught snoozing (supposedly for a few moments) on a training flight while properly seated in a passenger seat. A working crewmember photographed the trainee and sent it in to management.
The new hire, a foreign-language speaker, was fired just a couple of days before graduation. And this has been highly controversial among American Airlines flight attendants who say it brief naps happen all the time.

2222 Bonus Miles On American Flight 2222, Or Spend 22,000 United Miles To London
2-22-22 is pretty cool. Indeed the whole week’s date reads the same forwards and backwards. American Airlines is celebrating with bonus miles, and United with an award travel discount.
Two Year Old Finds Unsecured Firearm In Airbnb, Management Company Won’t Remove It
If you ever needed a story that underscores how little standards there are in renting through Airbnb, I think having your two year old find an unsecured firearm in a home you’ve rented and then not receiving any sort of meaningful response from the management company or Airbnb has to be it.
Qatar Airways Will Adopt Avios As Its Currency, Allow Points Transfers
Qatar Airways Privilege Club is dropping ‘QMiles’ and adopting Avios as its currency in late March, with points transferring 1:1 into the new program. This is potentially huge for earning points in Qatar’s program, and may be a huge win for members of other Avios programs like British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Avios as well.
