Woman Finds A Condom In Her Checked Bag, Is She Entitled To Compensation?

A woman took to social media to talk about the condom that her mother found in her checked bag after a flight on American Airlines. She says that her mother “felt super violated.”

My first thought was why does she think an American Airlines employee did it? After all, TSA is most likely to open your luggage after it’s been checked. The woman says that isn’t possible – because TSA always puts a slip of paper in your bag saying they’ve opened it, and there was no slip of paper. And clearly a TSA employee putting a condom in someone’s luggage is going to follow proper procedure to the letter.

The woman says American Airlines offered that there’s really nothing they can do about the condom placed in her mother’s luggage. Is that right? Is this woman due compensation? Or do you think the woman had a condom in her bag, or accidentally put it in her bag, and is embarrassed and came up with the story, “American Airlines did it?”

  1. If that happened to my Mom I’d be pretty shocked / ticked / or maybe in a twisted way thinks it’s a bit funny. But trying to get some $$ from an entity that I decided was responsible… I think not.

  2. “Super violated” over THIS? It’s just a sick joke to someone and should have little impact on anyone’s life. Can’t imagine what this woman would do if something actually awful happened to her. Was the condom used or still in the package??????? I stubbed my toe this morning coming into the office. Shall I file a claim for the mental stress I had to endure from walking around without my shoe for an hour?

  3. We all know this is wrong to have happened, and it will again no doubt reflect the poor quality of individuals available to be hired. I’d be more concerned that these people at some level have responsibility for our safety and well being..and didn’t I just read about retraining because 2 box cutters made it on board? I believe that this story is probably truthful, but how the heck to prove who should be held responsible when in this day and age the person reporting COULD have planted it themselves. I personally would not have wanted any publicity and would have trashed it and moved on…But I think it does, on the other hand justify reporting it because if we assume it is honest someone in the known facilities involved IS guilty of doing it and maybe there are cameras (or should be) to help figure out this whodoneit.

  4. Whoa if true.

In today’s media if a story sounds unbelievable, it’s usually false. Gary, you would look smarter if you expressed doubt on such accounts. We have seen this movie so many times.

  5. I vote for the mother being on the downlow for some action, she’s now trying to deflect after the daughter found out she has needs…..

  6. We checked a bag with AA in Miami six years ago and were flying First Class to IAH. We place colored zip ties on the zippers so the bag and contents (hopefully) would stay secure after we dropped it off at the ticket counter with AA staff. The bag also had a TSA approved lock.
We arrived in Houston, and low and behold, the zip tie was white – not colored like we had put on before leaving Miami, and the lock was gone. This bag had been gone through behind the scenes in MiA and there was no TSA paperwork in the bag. Therefore we assume there are thieves behind the scenes at AA in Miami and we’ve never flown them again.

  7. The condom was unopened per the video (and I doubt her mom wears those jeans but anyways …) the most aA should pay for is a laundry service to clean the clothes and that’s it

  8. In other news, on our most recent overseas trip we had a suit case zipper break in transit. When we picked the bag up it had been heavily wrapped. When we opened it, everything was left as if nothing had happened.. Two bottles of whisky perfectly fine. Someone took time out of their busy schedule to make sure our bag and stuff returned home safely. Thank you AA for that.

  9. I think this is more about the daughter making her face and cleavage go viral than anything else.

  10. Would the smart thing for AA to have done to be to give some small amount of compensation as a goodwill gesture? Probably. I mean, Delta gives 2,500 miles if my bags take 21 minutes from the time the door opened to reach the bag claim. Literally in seconds without question.

Does she actually deserve compensation? No, and decent chance it’s not even AA’s fault. Like you said, it’s not like some TSA perv who drops a condom in a bag is going to leave the TSA note admitting they did it. Of course, the whole thing being a stunt to get TikTok views is also within the realm of possibility.

If she actually cared much about this, the proper thing to do would be to report it to TSA. If they actually wanted to, TSA could probably view video footage and see whoever did that if it was one of their agents.

On a positive note, at least this is a lot better than having some corrupt security guy put a bullet in your bag and then demanding a bribe to not arrest you for having it in your bag. And then the President of the country publicly treating a pattern of such occurrences – including imprisonment of those who didn’t pay the bribe – like no big deal. #NAIA

  11. A woman discovering a wrapped condom in her checked baggage is less disturbing than finding an unwrapped condom hidden within the secret sauce but between the buns of a chicken sandwich lunch entree.

  12. Woman trying to be a victim again. Also notice her low cut top on the video. It’s obvious she does the for attention.

  13. How do we know that a hotel bell captain dropped it in there when going through it while it was at the hotel?

I want to see the chain of custody from the moment it was sealed by the owner until it was opened up.

Other wise but the girls back in your shirt and case closed.

  14. I’ve had a pocket knife stolen out of a check in bag, and just so happened to get that “we checked your bag” slip from the TSA. The other time I got that slip someone had opened my cologne and put it back in the bag without the cap. My underwear was very fragrant on that trip.
