I’m a Briggs & Riley fan, my usual carry on is their Baseline CX bag. They’ve made a splash over the past month with a new bag, and I’ve arranged a giveaway.
As I explained earlier today, I’ll have a different Briggs & Riley bag to give away next week as well (different bags for different reasons, they’ve “got your business and leisure covered” as it were).
The Briggs & Riley TORQ is a departure from just functional offering a stylish hard shell that I think looks great (although it’s extra-reinforced to prevent damage, so functional too).
It has an extra wide wheel base to prevent tipping when overstuffed, and it’s a four wheel spinner for easy transport through the airport.
And it comes with Briggs & Riley’s unrivaled lifetime guarantee.
This time we’re going to try something different. Instead of answering one question, I’m going to ask you to answer two to be eligible to win.
- Do you have different bags for different seasons?
- Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?
Here are the rules:
- You need to have answered both of those questions in your comment to this blog in order to be entered.
- You may enter up to once per day — and I give you a bit of slack in this, I won’t disqualify any entry as long as you don’t make more than one entry per calendar day or as long as no entry is closer than 24 hours together from another one. And if you’re close, we’re cool. I’m not looking to disqualify people, just to make sure there’s no massive ballot stuffing.
- All entries (comments) must be received no later than Thursday, June 6 at Noon Eastern time.
- I will draw a winner at random in the days following the close of the contest from those that meet these guidelines. Make sure you provide a valid e-mail address when entering to be eligible to win (you do not need to leave an email address in the comments, but along with your name where it asks for your email that email must be ‘real’ or I will have no way of contacting you).
- The winner acknowledges that this is a prize and is not for resale.
- I’m the final arbiter in all matters related to this contest and in all matters of interpretation. There is no appeal. I’m doing this because there’s an opportunity to send out a pretty cool high-end bag, and not taking anything in return, so please don’t give me a hard time in the process.
Any questions? E-mail me. And hopefully the winner will also follow up with me to let me know their impressions of the bag. It looks great!

I do not have different bags for different seasons.
I do not have different bags for work/leisure, however my travel for work is limited.
I hope I win!
1. I don’t have different bag for different seasons, but with this bag I would!
2. I also don’t have different bags for different trips due the price of quality luggage being so high!
I do not have different bags for different seasons
I do not travel for work so I do not have separate bags for that but I do have separate bags that I use for international travel as I am usually going to see family and they always have lots of requests for stuff
1. I do tend to use a larger bag in the winter bc it’s hard to fit sweaters and bulkier shoes in a smaller bag.
2. I don’t get to travel for work, so I just have the same bags for vacation travel.
I have only one carry-on bag: it’s an el-cheapo all seasons bag 🙂
I use the same bag for both leisure and business travel.
This looks great, especially if it is stable on its four wheels.
1. Same bags for all seasons.
2. Different bags depending mainly on length of trip and how much I carry.
Do you have different bags for different seasons? No, I usually use all of my bags interchangeably throughout the year.
Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work? I do. I usually use a Hartmann roller for longer business and leisure trips, and an Orvis weekender for shorter trips.
I don’t have different bags for different seasons.
I also don’t have different bags for work/leisure.
My bag choice is dependent primarily on length of trip.
1. Same bags for all seasons.
2. I use the same bag for all events.
thanks!
I don’t have separate bags for different seasons and I also don’t have different bags for work/leisure travel.
1. No.
2. No.
Pretty much the same bags no matter what for me.
1. No – but thats a great idea.
2. Yes – but then now if I change 1. to be a Yes – then I will need twice the number of bags. Hmmm…. perhaps if I win!
It never occured to me to have bags for different seasons, so no.
I do have bags for different “missions”. If I’m going on safari or a sailing charter, I have duffles that conform to fit into odd shaped spaces. For “normal” travel I have common wheelies and toppers.
1. I do not have different bags for different seasons.
2. I do not have different bags for work and leisure – good luggage is so expensive!
I do not have different bags for different seasons – except if you count my purse 😉 – but I do have different bags depending on the purpose and length of my trip. We sometimes go for 6 weeks and sometimes for 6 days, so the bags will vary based on what I need to take along. Ditto for the number of bags I will take!
1. No
2. No. The only thing I change is my laptop bag.
I don’t have a different bag for different seasons nor for different missions. I have an old carry-on as well as an old bigger case which I like but need to be replaced at some point. Would like a nice new one (or two).
I have the same big in rain, snow, sleet, or hail. My bags vary by size, so I usually take a backpack for a short trip and a check-in bag for a long one.
No and no, pretty much use the same bag for all trips.
1. No
2. Sorta. When my trip includes Paris, I do have a duffel bag that I cram into my rollaboard, so that I can relocate my clothes for the trip home, as my rollaboard is usually full of shopping treasures.
1. I dont have a bag for different seasons
2. I do have a bag for different missions ei, if it is just a weekend trip versus a week long trip
Thanks for the giveaway!
1. I do not have different bags for different seasons. I am a simple man.
2. I have pannier bags for my bicycle commute to work each day. And for large trips I have a larger backpack that has an adjoining day pack. I use all other bags interchangeably. I can use it to bring to work or on vacation or for anything else.
I don’t have a different bag for the seasons, however, I may choose a different bag based upon the season/destination. Example: in Germany during winter, they like to put down little pebbles on the sidewalks for traction instead of salt. Since these pebbles can play havoc with wheels, I might take an older bag or one that has larger wheels.
For biz travel, 98% of the time I exclusively use a 20 inch carry-on (Baseline CX widebody like you). But when traveling with family I also check a 27 inch and maybe another carry-on depending on the length of the trip.
I have gone to the B&R web site. This kind of guarantee reminds me of the good old days. I now want one. I’m in!
I don’t have a bag for different seasons nor do I use a different bag for different missions. I have a luggage to rule them all!
1. No sir
2. Indeed I do have different bags for work and play.
Question #1: Yes, typically I travel with a hard shell in the winter because snow and bad weather tend to damage cloth luggage. On the reverse, I usually want better space saving in the summer to accommodate more items.
Question #2: Yes, duffle bags and backpacks are my typical go-to for vacation, and structured uprights for business.
1. I do not have different bags for different seasons. Actually looking to get my first nice bag.
2. For work I like to travel with my computer bag and another small duffel bag. For vacation, I let my wife do all the packing and we leave the electronics home.
I don’t use different bags for different seasons.
I don’t use different bags for different missions (work vs. leisure).
I have only 2 bags, 1 large check-in and 1 standard carry-on. I use 1 based on how much luggage (highly correlated to length of trip) and not correlated to season or mission, although one could weakly argue that I carry more weight in colder seasons or for work trips.
Sadly no and no. I have one huge suitcase that has to be checked, which has worked for the most part since most of my trips have included myself the wife and 3 kids. But it’s not to handy for solo trips so I find myself borrowing carry one cases for business trips.
I do not have different bags for different seasons.
I do, however, use different bags for different reasons, going with a much more informal backpack for leisure travel.
Gary, thanks for doing this.
1. I don’t have different bags for different seasons.
2. I do have different bags for different missions — both business vs. leisure and, of course, for different types of trips within those categories (length, etc.).
1. No.
2. I use different type of bag when I go on vacation. E.g, I normally will use laptop rollaway bag for business. But on vacation, I’ll be using larger daffle bag to haul my snorkel gear.
No and No
But the ones I have are showing wear.
I don’t have a bag for different seasons, but I carry a more stylish Jack Spade bag for leisure trips and a more conservative Samsonite for business.
No and no.
1. No
2. No
All bags in black, ready to rock at any time for any reason.
Love that Briggs And Riley!
1.) No, same bags no matter the season.
2.) I usually use a smaller roller bag for work trips (usually shorter), and a larger one for vacation.
#1 No,
#2 Same old messanger bag
Same bags all year
Same bags for business and pleasure
One bag for all the seasons.
One bag for all purposes.
Maybe I need some more bags.
1) Nope. Don’t have different bags for different seasons. I felt a need to get a hard case one after my bags got wet on a thunderstorm day.
2) Bags I take for a trip depends on multiple factors like duration, baggage allowance and purpose. Additionally, laptop bag would be a difference between vacation and work.
1. No – the same bag regardless of the season!
2. Unless I am going on a really fun adventure when the North Face bags come out (climbing trips), I use the same bags for vacation and work.
1. No
2. I use the same bags for both work and vacations.
1. No
2. No
I have the same bag(s) I use for everything!
B& R fan here too – but have had to switch to a hard-side smaller carryon for European travel and would love to use this Torq!
1) no – same bags all year
2) type of trip doesn’t change which bag I take, just destination – Europe requires a smaller carry-on
1. I do not have have different bags for different seasons.
2. I do have bags for different reasons, small bags for short trips, suit carriers for work trips, Rolling duffels for extended leisure trips and finally golf bags for golf trips.
1. Same bags for all seasons cause I like things that last long.
2. My business is my leisure. So, still the same bags. Thanks.
#1 No, same bag + a laptop bag
#2 I use a smaller bag usually for work & vacation, but once in a blue moon a larger one for a vacation (laptop stays at home on all vacations)
1) I don’t have a different bag for different seasons.
2) I don’t have a different bag for different missions. I have one smallish black bag that has been beaten up over the years by United/Alaska/Southwest. I’ll change it when they wreck it….unless I win your contest.
