Comment Here And You May Win a Briggs & Riley TORQ Bag

I’m a Briggs & Riley fan, my usual carry on is their Baseline CX bag. They’ve made a splash over the past month with a new bag, and I’ve arranged a giveaway.

As I explained earlier today, I’ll have a different Briggs & Riley bag to give away next week as well (different bags for different reasons, they’ve “got your business and leisure covered” as it were).

The Briggs & Riley TORQ is a departure from just functional offering a stylish hard shell that I think looks great (although it’s extra-reinforced to prevent damage, so functional too).

It has an extra wide wheel base to prevent tipping when overstuffed, and it’s a four wheel spinner for easy transport through the airport.

And it comes with Briggs & Riley’s unrivaled lifetime guarantee.

This time we’re going to try something different. Instead of answering one question, I’m going to ask you to answer two to be eligible to win.

  • Do you have different bags for different seasons?
  • Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?

Here are the rules:

  • You need to have answered both of those questions in your comment to this blog in order to be entered.

  • You may enter up to once per day — and I give you a bit of slack in this, I won’t disqualify any entry as long as you don’t make more than one entry per calendar day or as long as no entry is closer than 24 hours together from another one. And if you’re close, we’re cool. I’m not looking to disqualify people, just to make sure there’s no massive ballot stuffing.

  • All entries (comments) must be received no later than Thursday, June 6 at Noon Eastern time.

  • I will draw a winner at random in the days following the close of the contest from those that meet these guidelines. Make sure you provide a valid e-mail address when entering to be eligible to win (you do not need to leave an email address in the comments, but along with your name where it asks for your email that email must be ‘real’ or I will have no way of contacting you).

  • The winner acknowledges that this is a prize and is not for resale.

  • I’m the final arbiter in all matters related to this contest and in all matters of interpretation. There is no appeal. I’m doing this because there’s an opportunity to send out a pretty cool high-end bag, and not taking anything in return, so please don’t give me a hard time in the process.

Any questions? E-mail me. And hopefully the winner will also follow up with me to let me know their impressions of the bag. It looks great!

  1. No and No… unfortunately I don’t travel enough to justify something different.

  2. hi
i don’t have diff bags for seasons and i also don’t have diff luggage for diff travel

  3. 1. Smaller bag for summer travel (since clothing is less bulky)
    2. I use tumi for work and a duffel bag or leisure travel.

  4. i do not have different bags for different season.

i dont have different bags for work/leisure.

  5. 1 – I don’t have different bags for different seasons
2 – I primarily have 2 bags – a Tumi (that would be great to swap out with a B&R) when I know I won’t have to check/gate check it, and a delsey that’s on its last legs when I know I will (e.g. flying on a regional jet).

  6. I do not have different bags for different seasons per se, but I do have different bags in general and there’s a correlation between which season it is and which bag I use (typically use larger bags in winter as those clothes take more space).

I do have different bags for different missions (e.g. rolling briefcase for work vs. backpack for vacation).

  7. 1. I don’t carry different bags for different seasons. I tend to take short, frequent trips, and a carry-on is usually all I need.
    2. I don’t travel a ton for work, but when I do it’s usually only for a night, so I usually just take my normal rollerboard or a small duffel bag.

  8. Do you have different bags for different seasons?
One bag for all seasons. Winter in New York and winter in Florida covers most climates.

Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?
Work is a single rollaboard. Vacation is hopefully long enough that I need a larger bag to check.

  9. I dont have different bags for different seasons but mainly use backpacks during rainy season.

I always use different bags for work, and vacation/leisure. A B&R carryon is my main bag for vacation and a kenneth cole for work.

  10. I have different bags, but have not ever varied use by season.

Likewise, I use the same bags for business and personal travel and instead switch up based upon size and capacity needed for a given trip.

  11. I do not vary my luggage by season; it’s the same rag tag set all year round.

I do vary luggage by mission, but I don’t travel for work at all. So, it depend on if I am vacationing; and there are 2 forms of vacation … long ones and/or ones where I might bring back purchased items (souvenirs), and quicker trips where picking things up is rare.

After our last 2 week trip to Hawaii and American Samoa (been back 1 week) I declared that I have to get a different carry-on setup. This would fit perfectly into my scheme!

  12. 1. Same bag for all seasons.
    2. Don’t need to travel for work so same bags for vacation.

  13. no, and no. I will tend to use the bigger bags for vacations — I typically want more changes of clothes, and more variety. But it’s the same pool of bags.

  14. 1. No. I dont have different bags for different seasons. Dont travel enough to justify the difference.
    2. Yes, I use a rick steves soft bag for personal trips (not worried about suit wrinkles) and a rollaboard with more structure for work travel.

  15. 1. Same bags for all seasons
    2. Different bags for vacation and work, since vacation bags are chosen by my wife! and my work luggage is a much heavier but (I think easier to roll) suitcase

  16. 1) I do not have different bags for different seasons.

    2) I do not have different bags for work and leisure.

I do have different sized bags for different length trips/packing needs.

  17. I don’t necessarily have different bags for different seasons. For me, it’s a matter of whether I need a small carry-on versus something larger that needs to be checked based upon length of stay. Of course, heading to a colder climate during the winter months may necessitate a checked bag for thicker sweaters and coats.

I do have different bags however when it come to personal travel versus work. Suits and dress shirts require a different type of baggage versus a purely leisure vacation. Plus, I may have to bring an extra bag from work with my “work essentials” as well.

  18. I don’t have different bags for different seasons, but do have different bags for different lengths of trips. It’s not exactly different for leisure and business, but those two kinds of trips tend to break down into general categories: leisure for me tends to be longer trips; while business is more shorter trips, so my bags break down that way.

And I do own two Briggs & Riley bags – a carry-on and a larger checked suitbag.

  19. I don’t have a different suitcase for different seasons. In terms of trip purpose I take a different carryover. For adventurous fun trips I usually carry a book bag. For fun shorter trips I take a fun colored shoulder bag. Last for business I take a functional bag with lots of pockets and a laptop sleeve.

  20. Do you have different bags for different seasons? No. (and what are seasons?)

Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work? Yes, but I don’t fully understand my reasons.

  21. 1. Same bag year round
    2. Same bag for all purposes, use them till they wear out

  22. I do not have different bags for different seasons. I generally use my MEI carry on for all missions – vacation and travel. However, when traveling to East Africa to visit friends and family, I max out my luggage allowance with large rollers or duffels.

  23. 1. I don’t have different bags depending on the season.

    2. I use the same bag regardless of work & leisure

That being said, I have a larger bag for extended trips.

  24. 1) I use the same bag for all seasons.
    2) I use the same bag for work travel and leisure travel.

  25. I do not have seasonal bags.

I do have different bags for business or pleasure travel

  26. My first time to enter a contest.

I neither have a bag for different seasons nor different occasions.

Thanks for the great insights, Gary!

  27. 1 – One bag works year round
2 – I have one bag for 1-14 nights and another for 14+ trips.

  28. 1. I do not have different bags for different seasons.
    2. I do not have different bags for work and leisure.

  29. 1 – I have one bag year round
2 – I do have a bag for 1 or 2 nights, especially in the summer

  30. I do not have different bags for different seasons.

However, I do find it useful to carry different bags for vacation and work!

  31. 1. No
    2. No. Use various bags depending on length of travel. If I can get away with carry on ,will go for that

  32. I use the same American Tourister 22in for all seasons
I use it for work and pleasure

It is the weight and amount inside that varies
It is only when the trip is very short I go to a smaller 20in samsonite

  33. I have one bag I use year around and I use the same bag for business and vacation, etc. However I will add a bag if needed. I have a Delsey bag that I love.

  34. 1. One expandable bag for all seasons
    2. Different bag for kitesurfing road trips.

  35. I do not have different bags for different seasons.I do have different bags for work/leisure.

  36. 1. I have the same bags for all seasons.
    2. I have different bags for my mission trips on behalf of a children’s charity (large) and my regular bags fr all other trips. I take donated items fr the children.

  37. No, and kinda (less a rule than the fact that I always pack my rollaboard for biz and big arse rolling duffels when traveling with the family)

  38. No, I do not have different bags for different seasons.

Yes, I have different bags for work and leisure. Leisure usually larger than work one.

  39. I do not have different bags for different bags for different seasons.
Because all our travel is Leasure travel, my husband and I share bags so it wold be nice to have one of my very own.

  40. 1) No, I don’t have different bags for different seasons.
    2) No, my bags vary by the length of the visit, not the type of visit (work/vacation). International leisure trips are longer, so bigger bags (old, beat up but proven Atlantic bags).
