Comment Here And You May Win a Briggs & Riley TORQ Bag

I’m a Briggs & Riley fan, my usual carry on is their Baseline CX bag. They’ve made a splash over the past month with a new bag, and I’ve arranged a giveaway.

As I explained earlier today, I’ll have a different Briggs & Riley bag to give away next week as well (different bags for different reasons, they’ve “got your business and leisure covered” as it were).

The Briggs & Riley TORQ is a departure from just functional offering a stylish hard shell that I think looks great (although it’s extra-reinforced to prevent damage, so functional too).

It has an extra wide wheel base to prevent tipping when overstuffed, and it’s a four wheel spinner for easy transport through the airport.

And it comes with Briggs & Riley’s unrivaled lifetime guarantee.

This time we’re going to try something different. Instead of answering one question, I’m going to ask you to answer two to be eligible to win.

  • Do you have different bags for different seasons?
  • Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?

Here are the rules:

  • You need to have answered both of those questions in your comment to this blog in order to be entered.

  • You may enter up to once per day — and I give you a bit of slack in this, I won’t disqualify any entry as long as you don’t make more than one entry per calendar day or as long as no entry is closer than 24 hours together from another one. And if you’re close, we’re cool. I’m not looking to disqualify people, just to make sure there’s no massive ballot stuffing.

  • All entries (comments) must be received no later than Thursday, June 6 at Noon Eastern time.

  • I will draw a winner at random in the days following the close of the contest from those that meet these guidelines. Make sure you provide a valid e-mail address when entering to be eligible to win (you do not need to leave an email address in the comments, but along with your name where it asks for your email that email must be ‘real’ or I will have no way of contacting you).

  • The winner acknowledges that this is a prize and is not for resale.

  • I’m the final arbiter in all matters related to this contest and in all matters of interpretation. There is no appeal. I’m doing this because there’s an opportunity to send out a pretty cool high-end bag, and not taking anything in return, so please don’t give me a hard time in the process.

Any questions? E-mail me. And hopefully the winner will also follow up with me to let me know their impressions of the bag. It looks great!

  1. I do not have different bags for different seasons.

I bought a Walkabout Light for my wife when she travels, and I simply use the cheap-o Costco unit that my Mom bought me for college graduation.

This one would be a nice upgrade!

  2. 1) I have a brighter colored work bag that I use sometimes in the summer.
    2) Hardly ever use my work bags, when I go on personal trips abroad. Tumi does better in the USA than Africa 😉

  3. Do you have different bags for different seasons?
    – Not really, I do try to take smaller/lighter bags for worse weather, but otherwise it’s all the same.

Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?
    – Just the lighter the better 🙂

  4. I have one bag for year round travel, regardless of business or pleasure. B&R Baseline 20″ widebody expandable carry on!

  5. No and No. Same bags for trips regardless of season and mission. What ultimately determine what bag I use is based on how much stuff required and length of time of trip.

  6. I do use different bags depending on the season.

I don’t use different luggage for different missions.

  7. Do you have different bags for different seasons?
    – Nope, purely depends on what I’m carrying.

Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?
    – No, same answer

  8. 1. No – but I do have hard and soft cases, and will opt for a hard case if conditions really demand it.

    2. Of course – for work I carry a suit bag because I’m always wearing a suit; for vacation I avoid suits at all cost, so… no suit bag.

  9. I do not have different bags for different seasons.

I do not have different bags for work/leisure. What bag I use depends on how long I am gone for.

  10. 1. I do have different bags for different seasons, because when it’s snowing/raining a lot I like bags with wheels so they don’t get as dirty when I have to put them down.

    2. I do have have different bags for different missions – such as duffle bags for short trips, rolling garment bags for work trips, and spinner uprights for vacation/family trips.

  11. Same bags for all seasons.

I do have different bags for different occasions, I have a short vacation one, a large camping backpack for longer travels, and a nicer suitcase for business travel

  12. NO on the 1st question and NO on the 2nd. I use the same bag whenever I travel.

  13. 1. I don’t have different bags for different seasons – just different bags depending on the length of my trip and how much I need to bring along.
    2. I do have different carryon bags for vacation vs. work travel. On vacation, I generally bring a backpack, as it is more ergonomic, but on work trips, I bring a shoulder laptop bag as it is more professional.

  14. I do not have different bags for different seasons.

I do not have different bags for work/leisure, but I would like a rigid bag

  15. I do not have different bag for different season.

I travel purely for leisure. So, I just have one set of bags. But, if I did fly frequently for work, I would have separate bags.

  16. I use the same bag year round (granted I travel in CA mostly so little variation)

I use the same 22″ carryon but will rotate between a backpack (north face) and tumi briefcase depending on if its work or personal travel.

  17. Been looking…thanks for the opportunity.

Do you have different bags for different seasons? Nope!

Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work? Nope!

  18. Yes, I have different bags for the seasons. My winter travel bag holds ski boots. I also only use my suit bag for work trips, so in a way have slightly different work and vacation bags

  19. I use the same carryons regardless of season, but may add a checked bag when travelling to cold climates.

I use the same personal item carryon for work and travel.

  20. 1. No
    2. No

In the past I’ve always used the same bags for vacation and work, and when one falls apart, I just throw it out and buy a new one. They’ve all been pretty cheap, and only last 1-2 years. My wife was getting sick of this process, so I just bought a Samsonite spinner carry-on, which I took on my most recent business trip, and it was a delight. I will never go back to the cheap bags we used to use. Now all I need is a regular 29-30″ bag for our upcoming trip to Thailand.

On a side note, it’s my birthday today, so I really hope I win! Love the blog.

  21. 1. no

    2. I have a military issue soft bag for all uses, so far over they years never a problem.

  22. I have my “weekend” bag for short trips and a separate, larger bag for longer trips. Since I’m a SAHM, I don’t have a work travel bag-they’re all leisure! They work in all seasons, though!

  23. 1. No, all my bags are the same type (matching set) and 2. No, only thing the dictates which bag I use is the size that is needed

  24. 1. Do you have different bags for different seasons?

No, bags are determined by time of travel.

    2. Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?

    No, same bags.

  25. I use the same bags for different seasons

I use the same bags for different missions

BUT – I do use different bags if they are being checked as opposed to those I only use for carryon.

  26. I do not have different bags for different seasons.

I don’t often travel for work, so I don’t have a different bag for business travel per se.

I do have different carry-ons depending on if I am checking luggage or not. If I am only using a carry-on I will use a rolling suitcase, otherwise I have a rolling backpack.

  27. I have the same bag for all seasons. My main carryon is always my super light Samsonite rolly bag. The only difference is if I want to do work with my laptop during flight instead of just my destination, then I will carry it in a separate handbag.

  28. 1. Same carry-on for all seasons.
    2. Different carry-on depending mainly on length of trip

  29. I don’t change up my bags with the seasons.

I do not travel for work. I usually take a standard black rolling bag for most weekend travel. However, on trips where I must check a bag (usually hiking or SCUBA related), I take a small hiking daypack instead.

  30. I do not have a different bag for different seasons.

I also do not have a different bag for work and pleasure.

  31. 1. I don’t have different bags for different seasons. My apartment is too small to store all that!
    2. I don’t, sadly, which means that my bright purple roller suitcase gets pretty beat up from monthly work trips. The wheels are splitting apart and most of the zipper pulls are gone.

  32. 1. My bags are the same.
    2. Generally yes, different bags – work trips are short and vacations longer

  33. I have used only one bag, regardless of the season for years now — a Rick Steves convertible backpack (as I tend to travel light).

I have used the same bag for both work and leisure travel (although the version I have is not laptop-friendly, hence my interest) in this giveaway.

My RS bag is pretty beat up; it’s time for a new one and this really looks cool!

  34. 1. No

    2. I tend to use a 22″ roller for work and backpack for play.

  35. no different bags for seasons.

I normally travel with a carry on for work, and a HUGE checked bag for family (life with kids!)

  36. 1. No.
    2. Not really. All the same carry-on, that kind needs to be replaced sometime soon.

  37. 1.No I don’t have different bags for different seasons. Not enough storage room for all those bags.
    2. Yes I do have different bags for different missions. Vacation and travel with family always involve large samsonites, but travel alone or short weekend trips always involves the lightest carry ons & a suit bag

  38. 1. I tend to pack lighter for summer, but no seasonal bags
    2. no checked bags if i can help it.

  39. 1. I don’t have different bags for different seasons, except that I have a larger bag and a smaller carryon bag and if I can’t fit my winter boots and down jacket in the small one or wear them on the plane I’ll bring the larger bag!
    2. My “work trips” only involve going to conferences, so I don’t need a business style bag for those, so I just have one. I will bring a nicer shoulder bag on “work trips” though.

  40. 1, Not really, though I’m a big guy and the sheer bulk of winter clothes sometimes necessitates a larger bag.

2, Only difference is when traveling with my kids and wife…all bets are off for carry-on only!

  41. 1. same bag all year
    2. i use the same carry-on for both business and leisure (it’s a 22″ Tumi *shoulder bag*) but a different bag for the “personal item”

  42. 1. No

    2. Sometimes I use a different backpack for leisure travel, but the work backpack/briefcase usually works.

  43. 1. Nope, just the same for either season
    2. I use my caselogic roller for work – more gadget friendly and use my other Samsonite for vacation travel etc.

  44. 1. I don’t have different bags for diff seasons.
    2. I have a small roller for work, and I usually use a larger one for play (especially on long vacations)!

I have a couple Briggs and Riley bags and love them. Great giveaway!
