I’m a Briggs & Riley fan, my usual carry on is their Baseline CX bag. They’ve made a splash over the past month with a new bag, and I’ve arranged a giveaway.
As I explained earlier today, I’ll have a different Briggs & Riley bag to give away next week as well (different bags for different reasons, they’ve “got your business and leisure covered” as it were).
The Briggs & Riley TORQ is a departure from just functional offering a stylish hard shell that I think looks great (although it’s extra-reinforced to prevent damage, so functional too).
It has an extra wide wheel base to prevent tipping when overstuffed, and it’s a four wheel spinner for easy transport through the airport.
And it comes with Briggs & Riley’s unrivaled lifetime guarantee.
This time we’re going to try something different. Instead of answering one question, I’m going to ask you to answer two to be eligible to win.
- Do you have different bags for different seasons?
- Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?
Here are the rules:
- You need to have answered both of those questions in your comment to this blog in order to be entered.
- You may enter up to once per day — and I give you a bit of slack in this, I won’t disqualify any entry as long as you don’t make more than one entry per calendar day or as long as no entry is closer than 24 hours together from another one. And if you’re close, we’re cool. I’m not looking to disqualify people, just to make sure there’s no massive ballot stuffing.
- All entries (comments) must be received no later than Thursday, June 6 at Noon Eastern time.
- I will draw a winner at random in the days following the close of the contest from those that meet these guidelines. Make sure you provide a valid e-mail address when entering to be eligible to win (you do not need to leave an email address in the comments, but along with your name where it asks for your email that email must be ‘real’ or I will have no way of contacting you).
- The winner acknowledges that this is a prize and is not for resale.
- I’m the final arbiter in all matters related to this contest and in all matters of interpretation. There is no appeal. I’m doing this because there’s an opportunity to send out a pretty cool high-end bag, and not taking anything in return, so please don’t give me a hard time in the process.
Any questions? E-mail me. And hopefully the winner will also follow up with me to let me know their impressions of the bag. It looks great!

1. No; 2. No.
But I do have different bags for different volumes of packing, of course.
1. I definitely have a set of Ralph Lauren Rugby bags for non-airline travel and also for summers at the lake or the shore.
2. To that point, yes … Different bags accompany me on different trips. I generally use a hard shell Tumi on any trip that requires a flight.
I have one bag for any reason and/or season. It serves me well, and I would love more.
1. I don’t use different bags for different seasons.
2. I do not use different bags for different types of travel.
I sure could use an upgrade tho.
1. Same bag for all seasons
2. Same bag for all trips – I try to fit everything for every trip into the same carry-on roller bag which means it’s big for a short trip and very full on a longer trip.
No different bags for different seasons.
Different bags for work and personal vacations.
1. No, one bag to rule them all-Victrionix
2. See Above 🙂
1. I do not have different bags for different seasons. That just sounds silly.
2. I do have different bags for different “missions”. Even multiple variations of each (such as casual business vs. formal business), which now that I think about it, might be stranger than different bags for different seasons.
1) Nope
2) Nope
My bags are small, medium and large depending on duration of the trip.
1. I’m pretty much with Robert Bolt here, a bag for all seasons (unless I need to take lots of bulky winter stuff unusually)
2. I typically use the same bag for both work and play, except for particularly complicated itineraries (with lots of weather variations say) where I might need to check a bag, then a different one.
I do not use different bags for different seasons but I do have two different carry-ons for leisure and work travel (the work one has specified laptop storage and special compartment for my business clothes).
My leisure luggage is 10 years old though and could certainly use an upgrade!
1. I do not have different bags for different seasons.
2. I have a Tumi for work and travel to luxurious places, and a beat-up bag for travel through less “pristine” airports or locations.
I have bags for all seasons! Hot pink for a girlfriend getaway to black when I’m trying to look all business.
1) i dont have different bags fo different seasons
2) i used to have different bags for leisure (roll-on carry on and a duffle bag) and work, but now i carry one (a duffle bag with roll away) for both leisure and travel
I don’t have different bags for different seasons, and use the same carry-on luggage for all trips. But I’d love to have a tougher bag like this one for future biz trips!
1 no bag seasonality
2 no work/ leasure difference but based on trip length. I do use a different bag for iPad only vs notebook & iPad.
Thanks hope I win.
Nope, I use the same bag unless I’m taking a long-term trip.
No again, I use the same bag (carry on size) for both work travel and personal travel
I do not have different bags for different seasons. My current Briggs & Riley selection serves me well for all weather!
I do not have different bags for work/leisure per se, but I do shift them around based on what I’m taking, e.g. I use my transforming suitcase with a lid that turns into a backpack if I suspect I’m going to need extra space on the way back. This is more likely to happen on a leisure trip, especially if just before christmas!
1. No different bags for different seasons for me.
2. Generally the same choices for leisure vs work. The only thing I care about is size, which I choose based on how many days worth I need.
I don’t have different bags for different seasons.
I don’t have different bags for different missions.
I don’t use different bags for different seasons. For vacation, I use a much larger bag than for work as I’m taking more and anticipate shopping.
1. No. 2 No. Maybe if I win a new bag, I can change one of these answers.
Same bags for all seasons.
Different bags for work vs vacation. Work bag is much smaller.
1. Same bags for all seasons
2. Different bag for work and vacation
No different bag for different seasons. Yes, I have a rolling laptop bag for day trips and a over the shoulder bag for vacations.
1) no different bags for different seasons
2) I have a few different bags. A roll aboard, a samsonite hardcase that is indestructible (but I have, forced under warranty) that is bige enough to be checked but small enough to take on crowded public transit, and finally a massive hardcase 4 wheeler for work meetings.
1. Same bag for any season
2. Same bag for all missions
1. No, one color, black is good enough for me.
2. No, same bag for work or vacation.
1. No same luggage all year
2. Yes, different bags for vacation, I dont pack as ftugally on vacation
1. Do you have different bags for different seasons?
No
2. Do you have different bags for different missions – such as vacation travel and work?
Work is my Tumi gear. MRs are my Red Oxx gear. Vacation is either a hard shell if I want to buy booze or a back pack if I am being a bit more adventurous with my travels.
Cheers
1) Same bag for different seasons. Its a samsonite
2) Different bags for work vs vacation. Work bag is a tumi. Leisure bag is Louis Vitton.
1. No different bags for different seasons
2. Sometimes use a different bag for work and vacation.

I don’t have bags for different seasons.
I do have bags for different missions, depending on length/aircraft. CRJ Bag is a Tumi McGuire Duffel. Normal trip/duration is a Victorinox Werks Traveler 22″. Long trip is a Briggs Baseline 27″
My trusty Briggs & Riley from the late 90’s is my all seasons all reasons bag. It’s worn and battered but it’s still up for any job.
1) Same bag for all seasons.
2) Work bag is small so I don’t need to check it, vacation bag is big, so the ‘boss’ has more real-estate to pack her things. 🙂
1. No, same bag for all seasons.
2. Yes, work bags tend to be cleaner in design, e.g. Tumi Alpha series, and random bags for vacation (read: bigger).
1)No
2)No
I literally live out of my bag full time. When one wears out or gets damaged I buy another. Same with clothes – what I have with me is what I have. When I get tired of them I go buy something else. Simplifies life a whole lot!
Nope I use the same bag for all seasons and all purposes
I have a gym bag (sort of) which suffices the often overnight roadtrips and a carry-on, which is good enough for up to 2 weeks of recreational travels (or 1 week for work). This normally covers most of my trips! Anything longer, then I have to suck it up and check a bag.
1. No, I don’t have different bag for different seasons
2. No, I don’t have different bags for different missions
Hello and thank you for this wonderful giveaway.
Do i have different bags for different season? Being an alpha male no i do not have different travel bags for different seasons!
But i do have different bags for missions. I have a hefty duffel bag for when i go on MRs. Another one in black for business use only and finally all other misc trips in my silver.
Good luck to everyone.
