Comment Here And You May Win a Briggs & Riley @work Bag

I’m a Briggs & Riley fan, my usual carry on is their Baseline CX bag. They’ve made a splash over the past month with a new bag, and I’ve arranged a giveaway.

As I explained last week, I have two different Briggs & Riley bags to give away (different bags for different reasons, they’ve “got your business and leisure covered” as it were).

Last week I gave away the hot new TORQ bag.

Of course Briggs & Riley is all about functional luggage, as much as I like the look of the new bags their bread and butter is the business market epitomized by their @work line.

Which of course comes with Briggs & Riley’s unrivaled lifetime guarantee.

Here’s how you can enter to win by commenting on this post. Given the strength of reputation for their guarantee, Answer the following question in the comments:

Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?

Here are the rules:

  • You need to answer the above question in your comment to this blog to be entered.

  • You may enter up to once per day — and I give you a bit of slack in this, I won’t disqualify any entry as long as you don’t make more than one entry per calendar day or as long as no entry is closer than 24 hours together from another one. And if you’re close, we’re cool. I’m not looking to disqualify people, just to make sure there’s no massive ballot stuffing.

  • All entries (comments) must be received no later than Thursday, June 13 at Noon Eastern time.

  • I will draw a winner at random in the days following the close of the contest from those that meet these guidelines. Make sure you provide a valid e-mail address when entering to be eligible to win (you do not need to leave an email address in the comments, but along with your name where it asks for your email that email must be ‘real’ or I will have no way of contacting you).

  • The winner acknowledges that this is a prize and is not for resale.

  • I’m the final arbiter in all matters related to this contest and in all matters of interpretation. There is no appeal. I’m doing this because there’s an opportunity to send out a pretty cool high-end bag, and not taking anything in return, so please don’t give me a hard time in the process.

Any questions? E-mail me. And hopefully the winner will also follow up with me to let me know their impressions of the bag.

  1. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage? I only, and always, worry that my checked luggage will be lost.

  2. I always worry about how my luggage will hold up against all the beating it takes in the baggage handling process.

  3. Yes, I worry that the bottles of liquor I am bringing back from an overseas trip will break!

  4. I always worry about either stuff getting stolen or losing my luggage. So I usually keep all the important stuff in my carry-on just-in-case.

  5. Always worry as I have had checked luggage lost, stolen from, and damaged. I went 15 years without checking a bag. Just had a baby, though, and now find it impossible, given all the baby gear, to not check luggage . . . and face all the worries that come with it.

  6. I’m generally not worried about my luggage, but there are international airports that I try to avoid connecting through because I’ve had items stolen and luggage broken.

  7. Do I worry something is going to happen to my luggage? Not Really, I rarely check bags and my carry on wheelie is the Briggs & Riley 21″ Baseline I have had since 1999 – had it repaired once at no cost. I also have a small cabin duffle that fits nicely on the top of the baseline, but lately, I have been using my NorthFace Surge Day-Pack as my personal item. my travel rule is never take more than you can handle and still have one hand/arm free 🙂

  8. I worry that my luggage will get torn/damaged, as it has in the past. That’s one reason why I try to only carry-on my luggage now.

  9. I too worry about lost luggage. When we have two suitcases, we always both pack some in each so we’ll both have SOMETHING if they lose one!

  10. While I have never had luggage stolen, many times traveling internationally I have seen sleepy and unattentive people have things stolen from their luggage while waiting for customs, passport control and taxis. Always keep your eyes out… especially traveling internationally.

  11. I mostly use cheap luggage, so I am somewhat worried about something physically happening to them. On longer trips, I’m also worried about luggage getting lost.

  12. I worry about my luggage for sure. When it’s a larger back and I go for the convenience of checking it, it’s out of sight but not out of mind. In fact, it’s on my mind doubly so for being out of sight!

  13. Every time I check a bag, I worry. That’s why I try not to check — but sometimes it can’t be avoided.

  14. I don’t worry too much – credit cards and/or the airline will cover most losses, plus it would be a good way to get some nice new clothes!

  15. I worry if my bag is sturdy enough to withstand handling when it is checked.

  16. I don’t worry about my luggage because most of what’s in there is cheap and replaceable.

  17. I worry that my luggage will be broken like a guitar in the cargo hold of a United jet.

  18. We worry more on if we’ll ever see our luggage than we do of the cases being damaged. Although after our last effort with AA where 3 bags where damaged I might have to rethink this.

  19. I also worry that my bags will be lost. And they did get lost, one time, when I went to Sweden on vacation. Spent three days without my bags until the airline finally found and them and delivered them to me (cannot remember what airlines it was, though)!

  20. I do worry that something will happen to my luggage. I have at least twice had it delayed. The first time I did not know how to pack and I was in a bad place without it. The second time was easier. My favorite bag is also no more. It bit the dust after the handle broke. It was not an expensive bag so I threw it out, i would love to have one that would be worth being fixed. To ahve them fix it for you would be an utter joy.

  21. I don’t worry much and have had my bags lost for 3 days once. Wasn’t fun, but they all arrive. The worst was on the shuttle from the terminal to my car in the long-term parking lot when someone took my case off the bus … luckily I noticed and stopped the driver, ran to find the guy who was just putting MY case into his car!

  22. Worry – of course! You never know what is going to happen when you leave your luggage at check-in!

  23. No I don’t. I think of my luggage as utility pieces that I expect will see wear and tear. Of course a lifetime guarantee is awesome!

  24. Nope! I’m a light packer, and rarely ever have to check a bag, so it’s always on hand and in sight.

  25. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage? No, not really. If I don’t check it, I usually take pretty good care of my stuff.

  26. I absolutely worry about my luggage: I’ve had it crushed, lost, broken open, taken by mistake by someone else, sent on the wrong flight etc., etc. I’ve never had luggage that came with a guarantee, so I just throw away the ones with broken zips and broken handles and broken wheels, and fork out for a replacement. The joys of travel!

  27. I don’t worry aboit my luggage because it’s almost a certainty that something bad, if only incrementally, will happen to it.

  28. I worry often, mainly about it getting misplaced by the airline or having something stolen from it-also by the airline crew.

  29. I only worry when I fly United, they break guitars. Otherwise, I think lost baggage is way overhyped by the vocal and whiny minority. But I think spending a lot of money on something that spends most of its time in the cargo bay is a poor investment. If my duffel bag cost a few hundred dollars, I’d probably think a little differently.

  30. Yes, I sometimes worry about my luggage, even though I have only had it get lost once (it was returned within a day).

  31. My biggest worry is that I’ll be waiting a long time at bag claim before my bag comes out.

  32. Of course I worry, but not enough to ruin my trip if it is lost. I never pack anything that can’t be replaced.

  33. I never worry. I’m just mindful of what I pack in there. Life is too short to worry!

  34. Do I worry? a bit. I’ve never (knock on wood) experienced lost luggage. But I have experienced damaged checked luggage. I generally carry on so I am in control of my own destiny as much as possible.

  35. I rarely check my bag so it’s with me most of the time. My backpack with my computer and camera I worry about but not clothes and shoes. I can replace those pretty easily and who in their right mind would want my clothes.

  36. Yes. That’s why I never put anything I can’t bear to lose in case something happens.

  37. nope i don’t worry about my bag. I only worry if I have a connection and the flight was delayed…. which means shorter transit time (shorter time for the baggage workers to transfer my stuff.

  38. Not only do I worry about my luggage, something did happen to it! On my last trip the airline returned it to me late and with large slashes in the backing and the handle missing. I would love to have a Briggs where I could have it repaired/replaced free of charge.

  39. I worry. One time I asked a flight attendant if she could check on my bag after a really tight connection. She said she had no way of checking and to always “have faith.” I always try!

  40. Generally no. I always carry on when I travel alone, even if it’s for a week. However, I do check cheapo luggage when I travel with the family, but make sure I have a change of clothes in the carry-ons.

  41. Every time I check a bag (which is rare), I am convinced it will not arrive with me.

  42. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage? Considering I’ve lost a camera bag before – YES!

  43. I don’t worry beacuse all my valuables and other important things are in my carry on.

  44. Something always happens to my luggage because My name is on the no-fly list. As Woody Allen once said, you’re not paranoid if they’ really are out to get you.

  45. Yes, I do worry, especially with that clip that came out not too long ago with workers going through luggage!

  46. I use Briggs &Riley and my fav bag for short trips is > 15 years old. It’s 50/50 that I check it on versus carry on board, and it’s still in great shape. I never have to worry about slits construction or making it through the conveyors at airports. Sometimes I have bag envy to new Briggs & Riley models so maybe time to upgrade?

  47. I wouldn’t say that I worry…but I do hope everytime that my luggage doesn’t fall apart.

  48. I use Briggs &Riley and my fav bag for short trips is over 15 years old. It’s 50/50 that I check it on versus carry on board, and it’s still in great shape. I never have to worry about slits construction or making it through the conveyors at airports. Sometimes I have bag envy to new Briggs & Riley models so maybe time to upgrade?

  49. I was going to say no, but now i am not sure.. i usually dont like to think about these things!! but generally carry my valuables in carry on

  50. I always worry! Seem to always have a damaged piece every other time I check a bag.

  51. Yes, I worry, which is why there are virtually no circumstances in which I will check a bag any more.

  52. I worry that the handle will break off or get stuck. It’s happened to almost all of my bags!

  53. I’ve been lucky enough to never have something happen to my bags, so maybe I’m naive but it’s not a worry of mine.

  54. I always worry that my bag will be lost or damaged but sometimes I have no choice and have to check it. I never put anything valuable in my checked bag.

  55. I usually worry about stolen items or lost bags. Happened once flying first class.

  56. I generally don’t worry about the luggage itself. Things will happen but can be fixed/repaired. I do worry about luggage getting delayed or lost when I have to check things … especially on international connections.

  57. I worry my bag will get lost or delayed, and with my cheap bags I worry that they’ll rip open. Especially my $15 Wal Mart duffle bag that has survived more transatlantic flights than I would ever have imagined.

  58. I had a camera stolen out of my checked bag on a very short flight, so I no longer put anything valuable in a checked bag. I’m worried I’ll never see the bag again. I’m also worried someone will steal my bag from the baggage area.

  59. I worry. Have you ever seen those guys loading the bags on the plane? Its like they’re in an Olympic competition to see how far they can toss the bag.

  60. I worry the handle won’t pull up because they crushed the back and bent the bars for the handle.

  61. I worry that my luggage will get lost. With having a little one traveling with us, we have a lot of “survival” items that we need to bring with us to make the trip much more pleasant-loosing these can equal a very stressful vacation for us!

  62. All my luggage is B&R. Because I love it so much – my biggest worry is that it will disappear altogether in transit. The UK paths, roads and pavements are built (or degraded – depending on you view) to be snow-hardy and rugged. The ground attacks the wheels of the rollaboards and spinners, but so far they have held up to all the friction the Brits can throw at them

  63. I don’t care. I have come to terms with US based airlines destroying my bags time after time.

  64. I always worry about a lost checked bag, and seeing staff throw bags unnecessarily doesn’t help either.

  65. I always worried about damage to the wheels. This has happened way too many times to me.

  66. Generally no, I don’t worry that something will happen to my luggage. Except wear and tear, which has put quite a beating on my tumi t tech roll aboard!

  67. I only worry when:

    1. I’m temporarily emigrating and have meaningful stuff in my maxed-out baggage allowance, or
    2. I’m going somewhere that replacing things will be difficult.

  68. I worry when I check my bags on a trip that has layovers. Non-stop flights are often fine. I also worry about handlers stealing things so I try to never check valuables.

  69. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage? All the time, as my luggage has been lost/misplaced at least 3 times and beat up multiple times.

  70. I worry about my instruments (e.g. guitar, violin, etc.): 1) that they will have to be check in, and 2) they will be crushed if they are.

  71. I definitely worry that something will happen to my luggage, especially after one of my bags was seriously damaged on my last trip

  72. Not usually but on a recent trip I got up to retrieve my bag from the overhead and it was gone. Luckily a guy behind me had taken it by mistake. But had I put it in an overhead in front of me instead of right near my seat I may have started that business trip off on a bad note. Something I now think about every time when searching for overhead space.

  73. Yes, I worry the most when I transit ORD — as they have destroyed my luggage a number of times.

  74. Worry, there are more important things to worry about but I sure would like a quality piece of luggage.

  75. Not usually but I always pack a couple of days worth of clothes in the carry on, just in case.

  76. I never worry about something happening to my bags, I always assume something WILL happen and am pleasantly surprised when it doesn’t.

  77. I worry that stuff in my bag and/or the bag itself will be damaged. Both have happened several times before.

  78. Yes, considering that the bag can be away from you for hours at a time, and even sometimes not even on the same flight as me, I do worry that it will get lost and/or damaged.

  79. I’m always concerned about loss or damage of my bags. It’s happened to me before.

  80. I have to check my Pelican 1510 and though I seal it as well as possible, I constantly worry it will pop open and its expensive contents spill out.

  81. Having seen what baggage handlers are capable of, I do worry about the new ways they will manage to wreck my checked luggage.

  82. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?

Losing it while in transit. So try my best with a carry on.

  83. I worry about the zipper popping open. It happen once in fact with a suitcase absolutely full of books. Luckily I had wrapped a few strips of duct tape around it.

  84. I think it’s always a concern about something happening to my luggage. Or even if it does make it to the conveyor belt safely, that somebody else has the same luggage and grabs mine by mistake.

  85. I always worry about my checked luggage being damaged or lost, that’s why I typically put all the important stuff and an alternate change of clothes and toiletries set in my carry-on luggage.

  86. I always worry if my checked luggage will be destroyed by getting caught or stuck on a moving conveyer belt.

  87. I’m always amazed that my luggage survives the trip. Too many times I have seen duct tape as the only thing keeping bags together in baggage claim.

  88. Very seldom do I worry when I have to check luggage. UA’s baggage service is pretty reliable these days, but if you check luggage you don’t nearly have the flexibility with irrops as you do sans checked luggage.

  89. Yes, not only I worry if the bag will make it to the destination; but also if it comes through unharmed. I see way too many bag handlers just tossing bags left and right, and the results when they come out on the belt.

  90. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?
Always, when it is checked – will it arrive on same flight as me – will it survive baggage handling?

  91. I always worry about vandalism and/or damage to any checked bags. It is a result of past experiences.

  92. No, because I don’t check bags (ever). This came after UA lost my bag on 2 consecutive flights (4-5 days each to recover them).

  93. No, if I really care about something it doesn’t go in my luggage. I figure I can always replace my clothes wherever I am going.

  94. I always worry about my luggage if I have to check it. First of all, I worry if it is going to male it to my final destination. Then, I worry “how” it is going to make it – after all the beating it takes…

  95. Never worry about the luggage as it is generally inexpensive. Sometime do worry about anu fragiles that I have packed in.

  96. As a frequent traveler, I always worry that something will happen to my bag(s). Loss, theft, damage, you name it. With lifetime warranty though, damage is not as big a concern.

  97. When I have to check a bag I am probably more worried about my bags being damaged than I am them gettig lost.

  98. No worries – anything very valuable I carry on me. Everything else is replaceable.

  99. Partially depends on the airline, but there’s always a little worry about my bag.

  100. Definitively – I get the feeling nobody really cares about my bags anywhere in the chain, and I always worry it will be poorly handled, whether in regular check or even gate check.

  101. I hardly ever worry. But when it is damaged, my B&R luggage has been easily repaired at our local shoe repair shop. So easy, that guarantee. They just send the bill to B&R.

  102. No, I never worry. Never had anything happen yet (knock on wood) – sure I’ll worry plenty once it does!

  103. I only worry if I’m checking a bag with liquids (usually coming back home from vacation with wine) and whether it will break or not.

  104. Yes, I do worry something will happen to my checked bags. All too often, something has happened in terms of damage.

  105. I always worry about my checked bags. Like to make sure I see them go through the partition.

  106. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?

No, I have never lost any bags before.

  107. After having my luggage lost in Africa, I worry a bit. But given that it was returned to me, I don’t worry too much!

  108. Yes, I do worry about my luggage. I have watched as the groundstaff literally toss each piece of baggage onto the ramp, to get at something, and they regularly “toss” the luggage onto the conveyor, giving each one a nice bounce, I guess so that they flatten out. Not so great when you have your stuff inside.

And overhead bins eat luggage tags, external zipper handles, etc., so I have a regular supply of replacements, drat it. I’ve found that Tumi Luggage holds up well, including their wheels’ bearings. Briggs stuff is highly touted by my local luggage guy, but I haven’t gotten any yet. This would be a good opportunity to see if he knows what he’s selling….

  109. I try not to worry but then some travel blogger posts a video of airline/airport employees pilfering someone’s bag. That doesn’t help…

  110. I don’t worry about something happening to my bag as I never check it. Everything I need must fit into a carry-on —-

  111. “Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?”

“Yes”… but since my old school hardside needs replacing (soon) I cap my worry and angst at $25 which is the cost of checking my bag with the airline.

  112. Yes, all of my clothes are in there and I don’t want to have to go shopping again!

  113. I dont worry about my carryon because I keep a close eye on it.
    I dont check any bags…Ever

  114. Ummmm..yes! Our last trip to Europe resulted in ALL of our bags being lost for five days. Thank God it was on the home flight because when we got into MUC we immediately boarded a train for Austria and left Austria the following morning for Slovenia. I’ve now learned to pack three days of clothes in a carry on.

  115. I constantly worry about my luggage. Between potential “inspections” by the TSA-holes who will never manage to repack my bag the way I had it organized, to the thug baggage handlers who toss my bag around without regard to the integrity of my luggage or its contents, to damage which occurs solely from natural movement that will occur when any item moves from 0 to 37,000 feet in a semi-pressurized environment, I have good reason to worry. And now, with the proliferation of the plague known as RJs, I can’t even fit a reasonably sized carry-on bag into the plane, and have to gate check my bag. Ugh!

  116. Any time I check a bag, I know it’s a gamble. With bag searches and baggage handlers, you never know.

  117. I don’t worry about losing my luggage – because I never let it out of my sight!

  118. Yes, I worry something is going to happen to my luggage, so I travel with carry on whenever possible.

  119. I worry about our trip to Europe this July. My wife and I have 10 different segments where we check our bags! I’m not sure our existing luggage will survive.

  120. Everytime I check bags! I once saw a baggage handler toss bags around and since then am always a little worried.

  121. I get so worried about luggage being rifiled through and or stolen. It hasn’t happened yet but my brand new samsonite luggage zipper got destroyed by my puppy when I got back from vacation. My mom ruined my new carry on by packing a small jar of honey and its covered in it now

  122. I worry constantly about damage to my luggage.

Over the last 6 international trips I have worn out two cloth luggage bags due to damage caused by handling. Zippers torn off, tears in the fabric, etc. I’ve been told that I should use hard case luggage instead, but I like the light weight of cloth bags!

  123. I always worry something will happen to my baggage when I check it (like getting crushed or lost). When I don’t, I still worry on UA’s 767s because of how their baggage compartment is and some people try to “re-organize” the space to force their bag up too.

  124. Nah, don’t worry. Then again, I try only to bring a small carry-on rollaboard wherever I go.

  125. I only worry when I have to check bags or if I have to gate-check my carry-on (less with the latter though than the former).

  126. I don’t worry because my suitcase is dingy and nobody would want it, which is why I’d like to win one!!

  127. I worried until I actually lost my baggage for a few days… it just wasn’t that bad!

  128. Not really – it’s up there with worrying about being in a car crash, or a flight incident. Go with a plan and be prepared as much as possible, but me, worry?

  129. Generally, no I don’t worry about my bag. But 1) nothing has ever happened to it and 2) the bag itself was fairly inexpensive so it wouldn’t be a great loss.

  130. What me worry?

Not really, unless I check it. Then I just worry about it showing up at all.

I shouldn’t worry about gate checked bags, but since they’ve somehow been lost twice in the last 5 years it nags at me.

  131. Yes I worry. Always try to carry on, but terrified of having to gate check if I’m running late.

  132. I only worry on the outbound flights, I do not want to shop for clothes on vacation. On the return flights it is not a big deal.

  133. I don’t worry anything will happen, I only worry if it will arrive at the same time I do.

  134. Yes I worry that my handle will break and it will be stuck in a position that wont fit into the overhead bins.

  135. I have three worries with checked luggage. Most pressing — that the bag will be damaged with rough handling. I’m also concerned, but less so, that something will be taken from my luggage, or that it will be lost or delayed en route. I hate carrying on bags, but given new fees, it’s definitely the preferred route now.

  136. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?

Only that the checked luggage will show up on the other end.

  137. In over 350,000 miles flown, I’ve never had a bag delayed or disappear… I’m not worried about my bags… (Knock wood)…

  138. If I check it, I know something will happen to it. Bags never come back looking the same!

  139. Yeah, I worry because I’ve had so many bags rip or break on me recently. I was breaking 1 per international trip for a while.

  140. Always worried about my bag! You always hear horror stories and hope it doesn’t happen to you!

  141. I have a B.R. Transcend and a Explorer Backpack. I love BR, but wish their style was a bit “trendier.” I own a Tumi Vapor, and the stuff that Tumi makes looks more aesthetically pleasing. Just saying!

  142. I’m generally not worried about my luggage though I minimize connections to avoid having bags transferred between planes

  143. I worry about how its handled when its checked/gate checked. The highly publicized Alitalia/TSA bag thefts have also ensured that I never check a bag unless I have to

  144. Yes – Especially when I have to gate check my carry-on. Have you seen how your bags get to the belly of the plane from the cabin? They load the bags onto a steep slide and they crash to the bottom!

  145. I only have one bag I’m not worried about. If anything happened to the other two I owned, it would upset me. And that’s why I always carry on those bags.

  146. I don’t worry because when my luggage is misplaced, it finally gets to me and I never place anything valuable in my luggage. All valuables go in my carry-on. Thanks!

  147. I don’t worry because I never put anything that would be a “trip stopper” in my luggage. Everything in there is replaceable.

  148. I got off a flight in Lincoln NE, bag didn’t show, talked to the guy who unloaded the plane who asked for a description of my bag.
“I yeah, I saw it. It looked like a flight attendant bag so I left it on the plane…”
The new bar coded systems are much better… but humans still intercede… One night when I was whining to my wife she said, “Cut it out. You knew what you signed up for.”
    And so it goes…

    ###

  149. Yes! I had my luggage lost and never found on a direct flight once. I’m terrified it will happen again!

  150. I worry that someone will take something OUT of my luggage when I check it, that’s just one of the reasons I try to carry on as much as possible.

  151. The one part I worry the most about is the wheels. They always inevitably get damaged when I check a bag.

  152. I worry about my checked luggage until I see my bright yellow FlyerTalk tag on the belt.

  153. I worry that my luggage will be lost or stolen, particularly on tight connections and crazy routings with less reputable carriers. While I usually pack all my valuables in my carry-on bag(s), I don’t want to ruin a vacation buying clothes or filing claims.

  154. I don’t worry – I know something is going to happen to it sometime. It is just a matter of time. I work it to its full potential while it survives 🙂

  155. Not usually. I’ve been pretty lucky luggage wise. Although, I am a buy luggage on the cheap and replace as necessary type guy.

  156. I worry that my bag will break in the middle of a trip and then I am left trying to carry a bunch of stuff that was organized by hand in a mixed up pile.

  157. I actually do not worry. I travel quite often and have had delayed luggage on tight connections but overall I have had a good experience with my luggage.

  158. Nothing to worry about, except a broken handle or wheel… which may happen anytime with my old carry-on

  159. I constantly worry about my luggage. I’ve had too many things – valuable and not – stolen out of my bags through the years NOT to worry. Maybe I’m actually worried about airport security?

  160. I wonder if my bag is going to take a vacation without me and if the contents will all be there when we are reunited.

  161. I don’t worry about my luggage much, but also do not spend a fortune on luggage.

  162. I already carry B&R luggage, so I never worry if something is going to happen to it. I’d love another bag!

  163. YES! I especially worry when i have segments on multiple airlines travelling to emerging market countries!

  164. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?

For domestic, not really as it’s pretty easy to recover. For international, depends on the connection/time and code-share.

  165. Worry, not so much. But expect that from time to time things will go wrong – well, that’s just realistic.

  166. Oh yeah! I’ve had my cell phone stolen from my bag by airport employees after checking in and losing sight of my bag in the dark recesses of the airport.

  167. Yes, I sometimes worry on international flights that something will happen to my luggage.

  168. I used to worry about the tsa rifling through my posessions but then I learned not to pack anything private or expensive. I would also love to learn more about this luggage by test driving it!

  169. I only worry that it won’t be durable enough to withstand one more undeserved impact from a baggage handler. I’ve seen more than one handler throw bags as though he is reliving a recent fight with Muhammad Ali.

  170. I’ve had 1 laptop that got cracked when i checked it at the gate in Lufthansa once, so i never check my 22″ from that time.

  171. I just worry that they will force me to gate check my carryons, then I start to worry about my luggage!

  172. Only about it getting lost. I never got my bag back from the Heathrow fiasco at the end of ’05.

  173. I also don’t usually worry about my luggage. Apart from a few instances of bus / train travel abroad, I’m not usually concerned with carry ons or checked items.

  174. I am not really worried about carry-ons, but I worry every time I check a bag underneath. I have had a few destroyed already.

  175. I don’t worry about my luggage because after it has been beat up a few times, what is another rip. I do get concerned sometimes when my luggage doesn’t arrive with me though.

  176. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?

Not really, I don’t put anything valuable in checked luggage. I’m more nervous about my wallet being stolen .

  177. After traveling with my wife for 16 hours to Sydney, only to see our bags show up 36 hours later, I’m always worried something is going to happen! Always pack the essentials in your carry-on, just in case.

  178. I worry when I see bags fall off the conveyor belt to the ground from airplane level.

  179. After once watching my bag come down the conveyor belt…following by my shampoo, soap, razors, tweezers……….. Yes.

  180. Of course I worry! I am a worrier to begin with, and entrusting my luggage to an airline when I must check a bag brings out the worrier! We have had multiple bags delayed but never lost completely. But it is something I consider every time I pack. Because our trips are typically 3 weeks to 3 months long, I check bags most of the time.

  181. Yes, I do worry, but that is mainly a fear because of my current lack of status to always carry on!

  182. Having had my luggage lost by an airline, I anxious every time I go to the carousel and don’t immediately locate my baggage coming out!

  183. I am worry as I have luggage being lost before being recovered. However, there is not much I can do as I usually travel internationally for a long trip and required check-in my bags.

  184. Having had airlines lose bags while overseas, and once seeing a bag split open on the carousel, yes, I worry. Alot.

  185. I always worry about my luggage, especially after last week when I witnessed the gate checked bags getting thrown off the plane and rolling off the ramp to the tarmac! So much for the poor fool’s laptop bag.

  186. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?

Every time I check it! Even though 95+% of the time it ends up fine, I’ve lost a handful of bags to belts / handlers / extreme environments over the years, so that’s never pleasant.

  187. The folks at the Briggs repair facility always come through on airline damage. But lately its the TSA approved locks that come up missing. Come on you guys at TSA, where is that standard key?

  188. Yes, I worry if it would make all the international connection and come out of the carousel at my destination.

  189. I worry about checked bags only when I am going places that don’t have good places to replace contents. The one time I had a bag lost, I resented the time to shop for new clothes.

  190. I worry that my bag’s wheels will wear down and they will cost a fortune to replace and are not covered by warranty.

  191. Of course I worried about my luggage getting lost, my luggage getting damaged, and stuff actually stolen from it.

  192. I worry every time I check my bag about something happening to it. On my latest trip this weekend, the side was all stained. WTF United??

  193. Yes — between the TSA and the airline, something can be stolen and each one will do nothing to help beyond pointing the finger at the other.

  194. I do worry when I gate check my bag that something may get damaged but I take out insurance for that

  195. I worry that my luggage will end up in the hands of an overzealous TSA agent and be lost in government bureaucracy.

  196. Pretty much I always worry.

Although it usually goes through just fine, I have had my bags tossed somewhere on a flight(s) from Florida to Paris, France.

My wife has had her bags take different flights than she does, luckily this has always been on the home trip, so it’s just a mild inconvenience.

Living in an apartment, my next door neighbor took frequent flights. The airlines were always dropping her stuff off for me to handle (how the luggage got there before she got back from the airport was always a riddle…).

  197. I only worry on the outbound, where losing or damaging the luggage would impact the trip. On the way back, I am far less concerned.

  198. I usually worry that something will happen but have been lucky so far. Though I would rather have a good, well constructed piece of luggage that seething happens to that a piece of junk that I didn’t care about

  199. I travel with my husband and pack some of his clothes in my case and some of mine in his, in case one of them gets lost. That is my big worry; our cases get battered but not destroyed (yet).

  200. I do. I try not to check luggage because I already had a bad experience with a brand new bag, which was damaged on a Ryanair flight.

  201. Yes. I worry that my checked luggage (almost never check) will get lost, and I worry that my expanded carry-on luggage will not fit in the bin.

  202. Sure … always a releif when checked bags emerge on the baggage carousel undamaged and on time

  203. i don’t worry about my luggage as much as i should. i’ve been lucky so far, i guess.

  204. I always worry something will happen to my luggage, especially when checking it in. I’ve had suitcases which TSA has opened forcefully and managed to break the locks on (And no, I don’t trust TSA/aiport handlers or anyone else not to go rifling/stealing through an unlocked suitcase, so I always lock it!)!!

  205. I definitely always worry, which is why I try to only travel with a carry-on and purse. Checking bags makes me very nervous.

  206. I worry about my bags getting misdirected/lost on interline connections–I generally don’t worry about online itineraries.

  207. I never check in bags…even with Southwest or airlines where my first bag is free due to status/having their credit card.

I would definitely enjoy the comfort of not having a huge backpack underneath the seat in front of me, but the fear of losing my checked-in bag outweighs that.

  208. Yes, I always worry about my luggage. Especially the cheaper luggage I tend to wind up with seems to break quite frequently!

  209. When I travel, I try NEVER to worry. But, to make sure my problems are minimized if my luggage gets lost, I always keep at least 2 days supplies in my carry on. If my carry on gets lost, I’m in deep do-do.

  210. I always worry if my bags will make my connection. 35 minutes may be a legal layover in Detroit, but my bags never seem to make it also.

  211. yes i do. and so i always have a change of clothes and meds in a carry on. but further than this i dont worry, i actually dont mind, when i am prepared, to not get my luggage on time because then i can go shopping which is sponsored by the airline. my last trip, to the middle east, they lost my bags for 3 days and so i went shopping and got a lot of nice new things and got reimbursed for all fo them. sweet!
    Thanks!

  212. I try not to worry, but I guess if I had really cheap luggage, I would worry that the strap would break off or it would rip open. I also would worry about checked baggage being lost, but I don’t check luggage unless forced to.

  213. I do worry about my luggage. Mostly about how it will be damaged, as various companies managed to create some amazing types of tears on my luggage before and my current checked luggage is a 4-wheel suitcase that I am afraid will one day become 3-wheel.

  214. Depends on whether I have any electronics in it. I always note that if an airline truly lost my luggage and can’t find it, they would compensate me. I hope this continues because it means a new wardrobe 🙂

  215. I always worry something will happen to my luggage, wrong plane, theft, completely ruined bag….

  216. I carry most of must haves in my carry on like most people, that way I try to NOT worry about my luggage. BTW – still have the B&R bag my dad gave me as part of my wedding gift back in 1998. Now we have more family members, so need more luggage 🙂

  217. Not really, I always pack light and carry on if possible. Even then I put it across the aisle from me so I can keep a close eye on it.

  218. I constantly worry about any checked bag, which is why I try to avoid checking (well, that and the fees). I’m not so much worried my bag will be lost as I am that it will be destroyed by the baggage handlers. I’ve seen some of the most inexplicable damage in the baggage claim area which has lead me to believe they are using hooks and box cutters to move the bags.

  219. Yes I am, the worst feeling is not having your luggage and your clothes when you arrive at your destination

  220. I not too worried, I don’t keep anything expensive in my luggage and I can always get some clothes at my destination if I need to.

  221. I always carry on, so I never worry. My adrenaline does always spike a little though when I’m forced to gate check…

  222. I am always concerned about the possibility of damage to my checked luggage! It has happened to me in the past. Having luggage with a good guarantee would certainly give me peace of mind!

  223. I worry that my bag might get lost if I’m forced to check it. But I also secretly hope it might be a bit damaged so that I can justify getting a new bag. I love luggage!

  224. I fear the battered bag coming out, held together by copious quantities of airline plastic wrap which, on closer inspection, turns out to be mine literally fallen apart at the seams.

  225. Yes, either the baggage handlers losing it or TSA damaging my bag (they broke the zipper to one of my suitcases).

  226. i always worry after checking in, almost never with carryons (except for gate checks)
I now keep the laptop in the outer compartment, so that if gate checked, I can take it out in 1 sec and be on my way

  227. I always worry if I’m carrying any breakables in my bag, especially if I have to check my bags.

  228. I always worry that my carry on bag is going to fall apart one day when I’m wheeling it through the airport. Just imagine all my items strewn out on the floor as I’m running to catch a flight!

  229. I also travel with Briggs & Riley bags so am not too concerned about something happening to them due to the stellar warranty policy. I brought bags in for repair at least 3 times now and can personally attest that Briggs & Riley really stands behind their commitment!!

  230. No, I don’t worry. I assume something will happen and am pleasantly surprised when things go well.

  231. I almost never check in a bag, so don’t normally worry about my luggage. When I do check in a bag I do worry about mis-directed luggage.

  232. Against conventional frequent flier wisdom, I almost always check a bag, and yet I don’t worry about doing so. Over hundreds and hundreds of flights, my bag has been mishandled just a handful of times. In all but one case, the delayed baggage was delivered to my hotel or home within hours. In the worst case, my bag arrived a few days late and the airline paid for all of the supplies I purchased in the interim.

  233. I generally don’t worry about my luggage as I can travel overhead at all times so that my bag stays in my possession.

  234. No, I don’t worry. In all my years of traveling, nothing major has happened so why worry?

  235. I don’t worry – I assume the worst and am pleasantly surprised when the bags turn out fine.

  236. I worry a touch. More that it will be delayed than lost. I’ve rarely had AA lose one on the outbound, but coming home I’ve had them delayed a day.

  237. I don’t worry about it, but am not surprised when my luggage returns missing a wheel or with marks all over it.

  238. I worry a bit that it won’t make it to my destination with me, but that has never happened.

  239. I worry when I check my bags – and always pleasantly surprised when they hit the conveyer without delay or damage!

  240. My bags have been ripped, pierced, dented, scratched and mutilated in all kinds of special ways. Normally, I claim my replacement selectively since the replacements are oftentimes worse than getting my bag fixed. So yeah, I worry that my luggage is mutilated…not to mention completely lost.
The single worst instance was my bag showing up on the carousel half-open with clothes & travel mementos hanging out…and that happened when coming back from my honeymoon…awesome! 🙂

  241. Typically not, unless I am carrying something really delicious in there. It would not want to loose that bag.

  242. I always worry that my luggage will bust open if I stuff it too full! I also hate when components break / fall off due to rough handling because it’s not necessarily worth the effort to fix / replace the components but degrades the appearance of the luggage.

  243. I worry that my bags zipper will break enroute and my contents will be spewed all over the place.

  244. I always worry about it, and not just when I check a bag (which is rare). I like to always ensure that my bag is clean and not ripped or broken in anyway. I hate when components break or fail. Hence why I tend to invest in solidly built bags.

  245. I always worry that the car seat I check won’t show up and then I’ll have to buy another one

  246. Only if I were to check it! But checking is against the law in my family so it’s not a problem.

  247. I only worry about what new spot, stain or what zipper handles will be ripped off my bags. I also wonder who pilfers stuff from my bags as well. TSA or baggage handlers? Who knows!!

  248. The first thing I do is check my luggage once I take it off the carousel…so yes, I’m always worried about something bad happening

  249. I always worry that either security or the airline will tell me my bag is too big, although I’ve never actually seen them do this to anyone.

  250. I don’t worry – but then that probably dooms me to something happening next time!

  251. I never worry. Briggs & Riley has an iron clad warranty policy and AMEX platinum will cover the contents!

  252. Do I worry something is going to happen to my luggage? Yes! Ever since the time the handle on my roller got stuck in “unretracted” position 15 minutes before a flight, I worry about the handle snapping off or getting stuck open. I had a “team” of about 5 guys all trying to solve the puzzle of the handle – to no avail. A flight attendant was kind enough to put my bag, with stuck open handle, in the first class closet (I was in coach). The handle never did retract, and I had to buy a new, cheap bag on the road…

  253. I do worry that my luggage will be taken because I use a wheelchair and that means I’m always the last one off the plane. Sometimes because folks are slow getting off and I have to wait for the last person to disembark, it can be upwards of 25 minutes to just get off. So my bags stay on the carousel the entire time and anyone could walk off with them (there’s no tag check at most airports). Luckily my bags have only been stolen 3 times :/

  254. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?

    – No, I’ve been fortunate to never have lost my luggage or had any luggage problems while flying. I am extremely thankful for that!

  255. I worry that a disgruntled airline worker will tell me my carry-on is too big or heavy

  256. I don’t worry so much about if anything is going to happen to the luggage as much as whether my luggage will make it to my final destination!

  257. I do my best to not check a bag but when I do I am worried about 10%. Most likely it will show up with no issues, but over the years I’ve had them delayed and it can make a mess out of things. Thankfully never actually lost a bag for more than a day.

  258. I own there B&R items, so I only worry about my bags being lost. I know if there is any damage B&R will stand behind their warranty.

  259. Yes, I try to carry on for long trips because I’m afraid my checked luggage will be lost.

  260. I am always worried my luggage will be lost after hearing horror stories from friends/relatives. Poor sister-in-law..she had to wear my clothes for days until her luggage arrived….and she’s much taller than I am. What’s more, we live in rural Indiana and at that time there was not a clothing store within 20 miles. 🙁 Poor thing. So yes, it’s always in the back of my mind.

  261. Not a worry as I NEVER check a bag. Very little wear and tear with a carry-on, especially on my Briggs and Riley.

  262. Having had checked bags lost on multiple occasions, I ALWAYS worry about, but especially if I am just an a short layover of a day or 2.

  263. After a few gratis drinks at the lounge bar I don’t worry about a thing, including my luggage.

  264. I try not to worry too much about my tumi bags, but every scar on my bag is painful to me. Can’t the system be more careful?

  265. I typically don’t worry about my checked bags since I don’t put anything too important in them. If it is that important put it in your carry on, even duty free items.

  266. Not really. I suppose it could get lost. And I’ve had one decent rollaboard destroyed when they gate checked it due to lack of overhead space, but Continental was good enough to provide me with a voucher to replace it before I even left the airport.

  267. I worry about the zippers. Once I had a messenger bag whose zipper popped after only my fourth trip through security.

  268. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?
I do hence all valuables always go in the carry-on!

  269. I’m really not worried about my luggage because I don’t put anything valuable inside and my luggage itself is so old and cheap (i.e. I could really use a new one).

  270. Yes, I worry something is going to happen to my luggage….mainly damage to checked luggage….maybe it’s time to try a Briggs and Riley case.

  271. I worry about the wheels falling off after I check it after many, many trips! I’m always looking for a more durable piece of luggage.

  272. I am concerned about checked luggage when I have tight connections; to avoid this I usually only have a carryon.

  273. I worry that it will be lost, so besides a tag, I always have a print-out of my itinerary inside.

  274. I always worry that I might have to gate check something and the contents arrive broken.

  275. I only worry about spilling my drink on my laptop bag. Other than that, nothing in my bags is expensive enough for me to worry. All expensive things are in my laptop bag

  276. My main concern is having valuables stolen, didn’t they just bust a TSA agent doing just that.

  277. I worry my bags won’t make it to my destination so I always pack essentials(like medication) in 2 spots.

  278. I do worry about my bag when I have to check it. Which is why I try to carry on only!

  279. Do I worry? When I check, I worry that it will get ripped to shreds. My Desley just had a top handle ripped half-way off and the zippers pulls are mangled.

When I don’t check, I worry that the bins in front of my seat will be full and I’ll check behind me. I may as well gate check at that point – I’ll probably get it faster.

  280. I worry that my checked baggage will be lost by the airlines. I try to avoid checking if it is at all possible.

  281. I never check baggage because I worry they will never show up. And if I really need to check them, I make sure all the important stuff is in my carry-on.

  282. I always worry about my baggage possibly getting lost or if the bottles of wine that I stuffed perfectly into the luggage breaks. Otherwise, I trust my luggage. However, it wouldn’t hurt to have an extra Briggs & Riley to back me up 🙂

  283. My carry-on has a broken strap, so I don’t worry about it too much anymore.

  284. I only worry about checked luggage. I don’t mind so much if it’s banged up a bit but I definitely worry about it being lost!

  285. Always, and that’s why I rarely check any luggage these days. Even on long trips, I pack light and do laundry locally.

  286. On my last trip to Alaska, my brand new suitcase got completely destroyed! The airline did not want to have anything to do with it and argued that: “the wheels are protruding”! Except that my suitcase was an “old-style” version with NO protruding wheels! The complete structure inside the suitcase was broken and the wheel were pushed up inside the suitcase…So yes, I do worry that my suitcase will, again, get crushed like a fly.

  287. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage? No. I’ve never had any of my luggage damaged in any significant way in the last 30+ years.

  288. I’m not worried about my luggage, but I’d certainly prefer that it arrive with me and intact. I understand that there are going to be bumps and scuffs, but the baggage handlers seem to treat items more roughly than necessary. The one time my baggage was delayed significantly, the place I was visiting decided to take a group photo of everyone working on the project. Fortunately, I had traveled in business-appropriate attire.

  289. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage? No, I’ve been incredibly lucky to not have any luggage damaged or lose anything.

  290. I’d prefer nothing happen to my luggage, but I don’t worry about it much. Just got to roll with the punches when traveling.

  291. Yes. And it has on several occasions. That is why I try to almost always fly carry on only whenever possible.

  292. Yes, but fortunately, the worst that has ever happened is that the luggage missed the connecting flight and I am usually reunited with my luggage by that evening.

  293. Yes, I worry about what is going to happen to my luggage, which is why I do carry on ALL THE TIME. I never want those baggage handlers handling my luggage and possibly rummaging through my belongings and stealing stuff…

  294. I’m paranoid. Won’t ever check my leather duffle and get sweaty when I check my Tumi roller

  295. Yes. A couple of times I have come home and opened my bag to find a broken item which was fairly well wrapped and I get to wondering how were they moving it around.

  296. Only when it rains, and there’s a 50/50 chance your clothes are going to be soaked!

  297. Yes I do worry. And given past experiences with checked baggage, I have reason to.

  298. Yes, I do worry something will happen to my bag, ie, suitcase when I travel. If its going to be lost, I hope it goes someplace where someone can use my things instead of it being distributed among airport emlpoyees – if that’s what happens.

  299. I never worry about something happening to my luggage. Plus I always carry on. Can’t remember the last time I checked a bag.

  300. I do not worry much anymore; all valuables board the plane with me, the checked stuff is now only clothes and misc stuff.

  301. I only worry that it will disappear via baggage handling or theft. I figure that — mangling aside — damage comes with the territory.

  302. Since we only eat Kosher, we always worry that our bags will either break on the way or won’t show up at all.

  303. Not really. Anything critical I take in my carry-on. And in the past when I’ve lost luggage (rare), it always showed up before business the next day.

  304. Yes, I always worry about my luggage! Have had past experiences with lost baggage, delayed baggage, damaged bags, things stolen out of bags – you name it and I’ve probably been through it.

  305. Yes, I always worried about damage to the luggage. Actually it has happened twice.

  306. I almost never check bags, so the biggest thing I worry about is my own stupidity, like leaving a bag (or a phone charger) in the lounge or hotel room.

  307. I worry more that the bag will be lost going TO my destination. Coming home would not be quite as bad. I have had minor damage to various bags, but it never really affected the stuff inside. I am missing one zipper handle/fob that I wish was still there, compliments of one of the airlines I’ve used.

  308. Yes I always worry when I check it or gate check it. I have had m tumi locks stolen and my bag opened (without any TSA card placed inside stating they inspected my luggage).

  309. never really have any worries – have insurance with my credit card and my luggage is guaranteed for life against damage. in 30 yrs of travel, my bags arrived late twice – and never lost.

  310. Yes, I worry if my luggage may get lost but not if the suitcase is damaged.

  311. Yes I worry something will happen to my bag. My luggage has been lost 4 out of my last 5 flights. I am now a carry on only girl.

  312. Always a bit nervous that my luggage will be lost, but certainly hopeful that it won’t be damaged!

  313. Yes if I check bags I worry about baggage handlers damaging and TSA rifling through my things. Luckily I rarely check bags (skis and when I moved out of the country).

  314. No concerns if I’m carrying on the bag, as I can monitor the bag for the most part. When I have to check a bag … complete paranoia!

  315. No, I don’t worry too much. Anything important I must take on a trip, I pack in a carry on bag. But I take precautions such as I have my name and contact information inside the bag, and I have a photo of my bag on my Blackberry.

  316. I definitely worry about bags and try not to leave anything too valuable in there. I once had a high-quality backpack get torn with a 8″ gash. I’ve experienced a lot of other incidents, especially (temporarily) lost luggage, which seems to happen every couple of years or so.

  317. I worry that the retractable handle of my carry-on will tend to get stuck in the full-length position. That happened to my last bag, and it’s no fun spending five minutes arguing with it every time I board a plane!

  318. I always worry that my checked luggage’s latch/zipper will “pop” open and everything will fall out! My carry-on, no worries, though a functional and comfortable bag is certainly welcomed. Hint hint!

  319. I never worry about my checked bag. I have been on the road for 29 years, check one bag everytime (at least since we have had the TSA major intrusion into carry-ons), and have only had one missed bag – at my home leg when I caught an earlier flight.

I almost always have priority boarding, and it is crazy to see everyone and ALL their carry-ons crash down the aisle like stressed out beasts of burden.

Life is too short to worry about the .01% stuff.

And I too am a major fan of B&R – great improvement from my Travel Pro bags that did not hold up. My adult daughter is also a major traveller, and we have given her several different pieces. She especially likes the new computer backpack/bag that allows the computer t ostay inside.

  320. My only worry is that eventually wear and tear will get the better of my luggage.

  321. When I check I worry it will arrive at baggage at the start of my trip with a missing wheel or split seam! I worry less coming home.

  322. Yep I worry it will get lost. I make sure the tag they attach has my destination airport code.

  323. I never used to worry until I had a bag sent to the wrong airport because it was tagged incorrectly. I had an important meeting the next day and my clothes were in there. Now I always double check the luggage tag if I check a bag.

  324. I always worry that something is going to happen to my luggage .. either that it itself will be missing parts or I’ll be missing pieces from inside (what I packed).

  325. I worry but there’s not much I can do if it’s a trip where I need to check a bag. JetBlue once lost my suitcase. Unfortunately I was on my way TO a wedding, which involved shopping and borrowing clothing. The case showed up a MONTH later. Have only flown B6 once since then, reluctantly.

As a result, my carryon is really important!

  326. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?

Yes, last time the wheel broke. Other times I worry someone might take my luggage since it looks like everyone elses luggage.

  327. I worry about my luggage whenever the luggage is not in my possession like when its checked or in the hands of the TSA.

  328. I worry something will happen to my luggage when it doesn’t arrive at its destination on time. Always arrives banged up the next day.

  329. I only worry on international flights when it would be much harder to replace my items, and how much I worry depends on how long I have to wait for the bag(s)to appear.

  330. So far I’ve never had a bad experience (knock on wood) checking a bag. Maybe this is because I rarely check bags!

  331. I worry more about wandering hands than I do that my bag will bust open midflight …

  332. Yes, I worry about my luggage. Either that it will get damaged or that someone will try and steal something from it.

  333. Yes. My bag got gate checked. And then “lost”. It had a lot of electronics in it.

  334. I rarely check bags, so I do not “worry” about my luggage as it is usually in the overhead above me. I have a soft sided “duffel” looking bag with handle and wheels that I usually use, since this almost always allows me to avoid the last minute forced check of a bag that I used to get with a straight roller board bag.

  335. If it is out of sight for a period of time on plane/train/etc, i worry that someone is going to mistakenly take it.

  336. I’m worried of damage – baggage handlers aren’t exactly known to be careful.

  337. I worry about my luggage at check in, as anything can happen to it such as damage, theft or becoming lost.

  338. How could one not worry about their checked luggage? I’ve had bags delayed for both personal and business trips, so now I will dress more professionally for the flight and bring all my necessities aboard with my checked bags. I’m not too worried about the bags, they will hold up – I’ve even have a very poorly packed soft case come through with a completely smashed bottle of wine. The clothes for that trip were all ruined in a nice red color, but the bag just washed out and had been doing great…

So yeah, I guess I’m not worried about the luggage – as I’ve never lost anything – but I worry that it will not arrive to start the trip at the time that I want it to….

  339. Not at all. I buy bags for about $30 on amazon, so they’re essentially disposable if need be. (I need a new one about every 18 mos, with about 130k BIS miles per year.)

  340. I don’t worry too much unless its some special equipment like skis or backpacking equipment. Suitcases I generally feel good about

  341. I don’t worry if the luggage gets lost completely as I’m prepared to confront the airline and get a refund. I’m worried that they break the bag and claim they are not responsible as that has already happened. I don’t understand how an airline can have no responsibility for the bag’s wheels while the bag is in their possession – they actually managed to crack a wheel on my Victorinox while it was gate-checked for a short regional flight.

  342. I worry that it will break open and something embarassing will be spinning around the carousel.

  343. I worry that my luggage will be delayed, hence I carry on a day’s essentials. I worry that my bags will be damaged, at least the ones I take often.

It was nice to meet you at the LA FTU!

  344. Over the last 5 years we have had 2 suitcases damaged by airlines and 2 cases delayed for 2- 4 days, so yes I worry and try to only check bags on international flights.

  345. I worry that items in my baggage will mysteriously disappear as I had such experience with two MP3 players in my United checked luggage on flights from ORD to PEK …

  346. Of course I worry. Just the other day a strip of “protective” plastic fell off. Wish I had a no questions asked warranty.

  347. No. I have a surfeit of cheap bags for when I need to check one, which is rarely. And for when I don’t I have a pair of carryons both conveniently sized to fit under the seat so it doesn’t matter which one goes in the bin. (And they stack so I’m only pulling one handle through the airport.)

  348. Nope, I only worry that there won’t be bin space or they’re do stuffed for it to fit

  349. Yes, I worry..but, won’t do any good. When I check I make sure my carry-on backpack has most things I would need in case bags get lost. For the first time in a while my most recent trip AAL did damage my bag. It is now in Dallas getting fixed or not. If not then they say they will replace. Apparently they get two weeks – so should find out JUne 18.

  350. For me it’s a gamble With the odds slightly in my favor. In the last 6 trips that I’ve checked a bag twice the bag was damaged. No theft.

  351. YES! I do. I roll on with my bag as early as possible when boarding and always place above my seat. I hate letting go of it while on an RJ when I have to gate check. If I have to gate check I will zip up all the zippers and take off my hooks so as to keep all in tact as much as possible. When I am handing it off to the staff member who is responsible for taking it from jetbridge or planeside to the luggage compartment, I always make eye contact with them and thank them for taking care of my luggage. So far so good.

  352. Once I check in the bags, I don’t and cannot worry, because worrying doesn’t make a difference to what happens to the bags.
Before check-in, however, I take precautions because I have had luggage broken (mostly domestic flights, though) and rendered useless, and have had delayed luggage for nearly a week without compensation for anything but the value of a few new t-shirts.

  353. I use Costco bags, so I’m not too worried about them getting torn up. They are relatively cheap to replace. If I have to check a bag, I worry about them disappearing forever.

  354. I am always a bit concerned and anxious that my checked bag would turn up promptly and intact at my destination.

  355. Always. Though I try not to be too materialistic and overly sentimental about things, can’t completely avoid it, it happens.

  356. Yes – I have had bags that were lost completely and also luggage (and a cartop carrier that I paid extra for) that was trashed.

  357. Absolutely – I have watched the luggage be tossed around and dropped by the baggage handlers.

  358. No, I don’t worry something will happen but always happy when my bag shows up on the carousel.

  359. I’ve never worried about my B&R wheeled backpack carryon, except that I won’t be able to replace it. I love it because it has a zip-off daypack, which makes it a great bag for tourism. When the zipper on my first (blue) one broke and the B&R-certified repair shop couldn’t fix it, they of course honored the lifetime guarantee to replace it, but B&R had to give me a new black one because that was the only color left in their warehouse, as they no longer produce that model nor anything similar with a zip-off daypack.

  360. I worry that if won’t fit in the overhead compartment when I fly small regional planes.

  361. I worry that TSA will not close it properly after their random(??) inspection and things will spill out and get lost.

  362. I worry that the TSA will not close it properly after their random (??) inspection and things will spill out and get lost.

  363. Frankly I don’t worry at all that something will happen to my luggage. I buy luggage that’s well built and is backed by a lengthy or lifetime warranty, so if something does go wrong I am covered.

  364. I worry….
Checking in: it will be overweight.
    Baggage claim: it won’t arrive
Customs: that they will want to open it.
    ….too much!

  365. I try not to, at least once its left my hands – there are enough things to worry about when travelling!

  366. rarely actually….almost always carry anything of value in my carry on….for the rest..there is Chase’s travel protection.

  367. I always worry when checking in my luggage, it would be damaged and not arrived on time

  368. It is always in the back of my head that something could happen. I always carry the most eesential items with me, that I can’t afford to lose.

  369. I’ve accepted that fact that eventually something WILL happen to my luggage, so I don’t worry about it.

  370. I try not to worry about my luggage, once it’s checked. I sent out a little luggage protection prayer and let it go.

  371. Want to check my luggage, but so afraid that it will be lost and I will be without for days or more!

  372. No. There are a lot bigger things in life to worry about than lost luggage.

  373. I worry! My luggage once got spiked on something at the airport. There was a small hole through the suitcase and my layers of clothing.

  374. Yes, that is why I always pack important stuff (including one change of outfit) in my carry-on.

  375. I worry that the business samples packed in the two large suitcases that I have to take with me on business trips will be stolen by TSA or airline personnel.

  376. OMG. I ALWAYS worry. I worry it’ll be lost or crushed or broken or damaged or stolen! 🙁

  377. Yes, I always fear my luggage will be damaged if I have to check a bag. But I should probably be more afraid that baggage handlers will steal things from my bag. That said, I rarely check anything of value other than nice clothes.

  378. Yes because I hate thinking about spending money I could be using for another trip to pay for luggae instead!

  379. I worry that something will be stolen from my checked bag as it has happened in the past on an international flight. I also replace zippers all the time that are knocked off of checked luggage so I worry (just a little) about that. With carry on luggage, if the flight is full and I’m in the back, I put it overhead further up in the plane when I find a spot. I worry someone will mistakenly grab my luggage on the way out and I’ll be too far back in the plane to stop it.

  380. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?
Yup but depends on the airline. Don’t care too much about the contents in my bag but more about the hassle or reporting and waiting for resolution on broken bags!!!

  381. Mostly I’m so worried about the baggage retrieval system they’ve got at Heathrow.

  382. I always check my bag as I don’t want to have to lug it around as normally I have a connection. My luggage is pretty much beat to H#(( so the airlines can’t hurt it to much. If it doesn’t make it to my destination I’ll go buy some things to make it through. Some things in travel you can’t control and its best to roll with it.

  384. Yes, I worry whenever a bag gets checked. Gets tossed around by strangers, rolls around the carousel for anyone to grab…lots to worry about.

  385. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?
When it is checked. Try to never pack anything of value in checked bags. Never know if it will it arrive on same flight, survive baggage handling, or have items taken out and not returned.

  386. I worry that my bag will be peeled open like a sardine can somewhere in the bowels of the airport and all of my belongings will be lost.

  387. I have concerns about things getting crushed (e.g. the screen on a tablet, or lens in sunglasses, etc.)

  388. The quandary about spending a good bit of money on high quality luggage is that it will show up beaten and broken when it comes around on the carousel. I’m usually inclined to buy less expensive luggage sets and replace them more often when broken; this way, when they break I can blame it on cheap quality rather than being pissed at the airline.

  389. I normally don’t worry about the bag itself but would always keep a scenario in mind–what if the checked bag get lost? How would I need to adjust to that with minimum disruption of my trip?

  390. I definitely worry about my luggage. When it’s a larger bag and I go for the convenience of checking it, it’s out of sight but never out of mind. Actually, I’d say it’s on my mind doubly so for being out of sight!

  391. I worry airport employees will see my dirty, worn luggage and think someone left them on the baggage carousel from 1955.

  392. I’m usually not too worried, although more connections usually makes me worry more

  393. Can’t say I worry about it, but it’s always a relief to see my checked bag show up on the carousel, especially if it’s one piece.

  394. Yes, of course. Mostly just worried when I check my luggage and it gets lost on the way to my destination. If it gets lost on the trip back home, no worries.

  395. Seasoned travelers know to carry the important things (jewelry, meds, chargers) in their carry-on baggage, but I do worry that my bag will one day come out of the baggage carousel broken, in a black bin, with all my unmentionables strewn about.

  396. Because a lot of black luggage look similar, I worry that some other passenger will grab mine by mistake and take off before they realize their error.

  397. Have had lots of checked luggage damaged. Definitely worried it will happen again!

  398. Do I worry?…. Not really… But I have been caught on a long trip when my suitcase zipper broke!

  399. Yes, I worry something is going to happen to my luggage, so I travel with carry on whenever possible and avoid checked bags.

  400. On a nonstop flight, I’m generally not concerned. But where I’m making a connection, especially involving a major hub and/or change of airline, I become increasingly concerned that my luggage will be lost.

  401. I used to worry about it, but now I carry-on mostly so I don’t have to worry about it anymore (and more importantly, save time by not having to wait for my bags after landing).

  402. Damaged – not really. Lost or mistakenly taken by another passenger (this has occurred to me) – yes.

  403. I always worry when I check my luggage (i.e. long long-haul flights). The last time I visited Europe and Asia, my checked luggage was severely damaged. In addition, the airline policies significantly limit any liability for damage caused by their handlers, which gives them no incentive to take care of your luggage.

  404. I don’t worry about the bag being stolen but do worry about the contents disappearing. That has happened to me on a UA flight.

  405. Yes… but I worry about my present suitcase only about as far as I can throw it when fully packed – which is to say not far therefore not much worry. On the other hand if I had the Briggs & Reily bag I’d probably be all mother hen about it.

  406. I worry about my current suitcase when I try to fit it in the overhead compartment (sometimes its a tight fit!). Would love a B&R Bag though!

  407. I always worry something is going to happen to my luggage so I never check it. Carry on only no matter how long the trip.

  408. Don’t usually worry about the airline, but with all these black bags looking exactly the same, surprised mine hasn’t been taken accidentally yet.

  409. I worried about the luggage being damaged. Esp if it’s damaged to the point that I have to buy a replacement in my destination (probably will have to spend more money).

  410. Only worry that I won’t be allowed to take my (admittedly slightly oversized) bag onto the plane!

  411. i don’t “worry” per se as it accomplishes nothing. i assess the risk, plan for contingencies, and mitigate the risk with insurance.

  412. I always worry about my checked luggage being damaged or lost, that’s why I typically put all the important stuff and an alternate change of clothes and toiletries set in my carry-on luggage.

  413. The only time I’m worried is travelling south of the border by bus when it sits out in the open waiting to be loaded into the compartments underneath the seating.

  414. I don’t worry beacuse all my valuables and other important things are in my carry on.

  415. I only worry about checked luggage, although I’m usually a carry on-only type of person. I don’t mind so much if my luggage gets banged up a bit but I definitely worry about it being lost!

  416. What was the question again? I am just happy if my bags makes it to my destination. That is why I am doing more carry on than checking in a bag. I also don’t want to enrich the airlines and encourage them to create more rip off fees. They will need us again to support them, I am confident of that!!

  417. I try not to check bags, mainly because I don’t want to wait for them, but also because I’m afraid someone might steal from me, specially leaving in Italy (remember the case of people taking belongings out of the suitcases)

  418. I worry that I won’t win this contest and will have to keep traveling with the crappy jansport backpack I’ve had for years! Ugh

  419. I never have had an issue, although I know plenty of people who had to wait a day or two for their luggage.

Ironically, my worst experience was on a recent flight from LAX to SFO. It was an afternoon flight, so a fifty percent chance that fog at SFO will delay flights, and it did get delayed. We departed 2 hours late, then after landing, the luggage took over 40 minutes to arrive at baggage claim. No explanation and this was not 1:00am at a tiny airport, this was 10:30pm at SFO. Someone could have given a decent explanation, at least to get us off their backs. Very unprofessional and I couldn’t have been more annoyed.

  420. I still worry about my luggage when checking it. No change of heart since yesterday!

  421. No. I already do things to minimize those changes as possible (e.g. carry on instead of check) and there is no point in worrying about what you can’t control.

  422. After a wheel started peeling apart while schlepping my bag from the Airport Sheraton in Frankfurt to Lufthansa’s First Class Terminal – Yes!

  423. No. I’ve only had a problem once, it was 20 years ago and American gave me and my wife money to buy new clothes. It was fun. Of course they probably wouldn’t do that now.

  424. Of course I worry something is going to happen to my luggage. There’s no accountability or monitoring for baggage handlers and TSA agents so they can get away with anything.

IF I only have a carry-on I’m not nearly as worried.

  425. Not usually. If I check in late and it’s possible that the bag won’t make the plane, I do worry. Ditto for short connections.

  426. I worry that a zipper on my luggage may bust on a flight. Luggage is tossed like peanuts at a ball game.

  427. I travel with a B&R, so I don’t have to worry about bag damage. I do worry about lost or delayed luggage though n

  428. I don’t worry about my luggage because it’s almost a certainty that something bad, if only incrementally, will happen to it.

  429. I always worry when checking a bag and whether it’ll get to its destination, on time, unscathed and with all its content.

  430. I don’t really worry about my bag, though I try to have the basic necessities with me when I am required to check in my cabin bag. For all the years of traveling, I have never lost a bag, though there have been a few delays once in a while.

  431. I don’t worry because I never check a bag. Plus I learned a long time ago that wherever you’re going – they sell things – you can usually get a replacement.

  432. Nope, never. Not about checking, because I don’t, nor anything else, either. It’s about travel, and a good bag is important, but, you an get another.

  433. I never pack valuables in my checked bag … it’s all easily replaced stuff. I worry only about not having this “stuff” going TO my destination. The bags themselves seem to be pretty sturdy with only minor issues after many, many flights.

  434. I try not to worry too much by virtually never checking the luggage in and keeping an eye on it.

  435. I rarely check my bag so I don’t worry about anything happening to it. If I do check it, I always assume it won’t be there when I get to my destination.

  436. Every time I check a bag, I worry. That is why I try to do a carry on whenever possible.

  437. I worry that my luggage will be picked up by someone else by mistake because often most luggage looks about the same.

  438. I stopped looking when I saw my bag taken out by a tumbling golf bag. Now I just pretend all will be fine.

  439. If I check bags, I always hold my breath a little until I see them on the carousel.

  440. I worry that the TSA will repack it poorly, either losing something or causing something to break.

Having them delayed is usually a blessing — it means someone else will deliver them to me and I don’t have to haul them around.

  441. Anything that I really have to worry about goes in the carry on. I try not to worry about my checked bags…until they happen to be among the last ones to appear on the carousel.

  442. I worry. I worry that the baggage won’t arrive when I do, that the baggage will be broken when it arrives, that something will be stolen. Adof course most of the time all goes well. This doesn’t stop me from worrying on the next flight,

  443. If I’m checking bags I always worry. As soon as it leaves your hands, it’s fair game for someone to go through.

  444. I don’t worry about my bag getting trashed. It always surprises me when it gets banged up.

  445. I worry that my luggage will be lost or stolen, particularly on tight connections and crazy routings with less reputable carriers. While I usually pack all my valuables in my carry-on bag(s), I don’t want to ruin a vacation buying clothes or filing claims.

  446. Not really. Anything critical I take in my carry-on. And in the past when I’ve lost luggage (rare), it always showed up before business the next day.

  447. No, I don’t worry until I have to. I have always wanted to go on a cruise with a small carry on and say my large checked baggage was lost so I didn’t have to dress up and bring a ton of overpacked clothes/shoes!

  448. I worry….
when checking in: it will be overweight.
at baggage claim: it won’t arrive.
at customs: that they will want to open it.
    ….too much!

  449. I almost never worry about checked luggage. It’s incredibly convenient to have someone else take care of a heavy suitcase while I go to the lounge to relax before getting on the plane, then I pick it up on the other end.

  450. I don’t worry at all that something will happen to my luggage. I try to buy luggage that’s well built and is backed by a good warranty, so if something does go wrong I am covered.

  451. I do NOT worry that my luggage will be damaged — because I use B&R bags and its guarantee is FABULOUS. However, I do worry about checked baggage getting lost/delayed.

  452. I just checked my luggage and I’m sitting in an airport lounge in Warsaw, worrying about my luggage and whether it will make the tight connection in Munich because my flight from Warsaw is delayed by 30+ minutes and my connection was only 55 minutes. Come to think of it, I’m more worried whether I will make the connection but I’m resting easier knowing I have special Amex travel delay insurance that will cover me for up to $300 for a hotel, food and transportation, and I’ve never been to Munich so it might not be the worst thing in the world.

  453. I tend to obsessively worry about other stuff more, so no I don’t worry too much about a bag!

  454. I don’t worry about my luggage because most of what’s in there is cheap and replaceable.

  455. I always worry and with good reason. Got to Sydney in January, and the airlines had ducktaped my bag, and there were clothes hanging out everywhere. If possible, I carry on.

  456. I worry about losing checked luggage in between layovers and not having it reach my final destination.

  457. With checked in bags I worry about how long it will take for the bags to show up at baggage claim.

  458. i don’t worry that something will happen to my bag because i try to carry on every time.

  459. I’ve never owned a solid durable high end back, so yes, I am very concerned about my bag leaving a trail of clothing as it comes down the shoot!

  460. When I’ve brought wine back in checked luggage, I always worry it will break and ruin my clothes.

  461. I worry about damaged luggage since I rely on the luggage to protect the items I am carrying from being damaged — items that are essential for the purpose I am traveling.

  462. I am always worried something will happen to my checked luggage, which is why I am trying to be better at traveling with just a carry on.

  463. I do worry if I check my luggage. I’ve had it delayed and I’ve had it arrive to me with bits and pieces broken. I now always travel with a well packed carry on “just in case”.

  464. I worry more about things inside getting damaged than my actual luggage getting lost…not sure that’s completely rational, but that is how it is for me. Filing claims in either case is definitely not something I enjoy.

  465. When I worry about what will happen to my bag, I take out baggage insurance just in case.

  466. Sometimes worry that my gate checked bag will lose its gate check tag and it will disappear into limbo without any record of it.

  467. I always worry about my checked luggage. OTOH, I can almost always buy what I need at my destination if the bag is lost.

  468. Now that I know that I can always ask the airline for a “survival pack” in case my luggage is late, I worry less.

  469. I always worry since my luggage inevitably gets damaged.

I remember sitting in one of those lovely window seats in coach on a United flight out of Philadelphia and seeing the luggage trolley come out from the terminal to our plane. My bag was a florescent green color which made it easy to spot in the middle of the pile. As the attendant was unloading the first few bags there was an avalanche and mine ended up on the conveyor but with the handle snagged on something. As the attendants slowly picked up the other bags from the ground, the conveyor was doing its best belt sander impression on my poor green one.

I’m not sure what is worse… unexpectedly finding your bag damaged when you pick it up, or spending a 2 hour flight knowing that its damaged but not knowing how bad.

  470. I worry I won’t see it on the baggage belt at my final destination (particularly when I have several connections along the way).

  471. No, I usually go with carryons only and have had good luck when checking things in!

  472. I do worry some and try to pack accordingly. I will say I’m never surprised when something does happen.

  473. Worry? Meh. . . it’s kind of expected at some point. Lately we’ve been flying with folding bikes and there is always a TSA inspection ticket in the bags. I worry more that when they’re digging through the bags they’ll pull out the little bag of parts and forget to put them back. Often they’ll arrive in the expanded position (which would have made them oversize) because they can get them put back in properly. Just waitin for the day!

  474. I usually don’t worry, because I usually don’t check a bag. But when I do check a bag, I worry about broken souvenirs that I’m bringing back with me from some exotic location.

  475. I worry both when it’s leisure travel (usually have to check stuff that the kids say they need) and when forced to check for business travel (colleagues are quick to chime in with stories about having to buy a suit in a random rural town).

  476. I always worry that something’s going to happen to my luggage, but it usually relates to delays or the bag being lost!

  477. I worry my baggage will make it to Egypt before I do; I will of course, be on the way to London.

  478. Try not to think about it since the bag and its contents can be replaced but my time worrying cannot

  479. Definitely I worry about lost luggage as it happened twice on my way to a cruise. I now take it as carry on and then after buying souvenirs etc, I check in the luggage on the way home.

  480. I don’t usually worry about lost luggage. It is a bummer when it happens though.

  481. I am often concerned when I gate check a bag on a regional jet, because if the tag gets pulled off (if the airline even uses one), the bag might get diverted into the checked luggage pipeline and then lost.

  482. I don’t worry about my bag because it’s a Briggs and Riley and I’ve had it since 1999. It holds up to anything.

  483. I don’t usually worry about my luggage. Apart from a few instances of bus / train travel abroad, I’m not usually concerned with carry ons or checked items.

  484. I don’t generally worry though I have been to Hawaii three times in my life and each time my luggage has been lost on the way. The most recent time being a direct flight!

  485. Every time I look out the airplane window and watch handlers carelessly flinging bags about, I worry.

  486. I always keep my valuables and a few sets of clothes in my carry-on, so I don’t really worry about something happening to my check-in.

  487. I don’t really worry about damage or lost luggage that much, but I do worry about wine bottles breaking inside them!

  488. I only worry about it on the outbound…not such a big deal when a bag is lost on the return!

  489. I about my luggage for sure.

When it’s a larger bag and I go for the convenience of checking it, it’s out of sight but never out of mind. In fact I’d say it’s on my mind doubly so for being out of sight!

  490. Of course, even though I rarely have much of monetary or sentimental value in checked luggage, if it went missing, the hassle factor would be a pain. Who wants to deal with finding new clothes, chargers, toiletries, etc. when they’re on vacation? I always check a fairly cheap bag, don’t bother to put a lock on it, and try not to pack anything that can’t be easily replaced. Good thing about B&R is it’s fairly understated and won’t draw too much attention.

  491. I’m always worried about my luggage…not just if/when I check it in, but even dinging it against things while lugging it around. A wheel breaking can be a real pain.

  492. Yes, when traveling at times you are in very safe and other times very vulnerable situations for baggage theft.

And there is baggage failure too – I was just traveling abroad and my daypack zipper failed. Fortunately I quickly found a suitable replacement, but I was forced to pay $77 for a bag that I could have gotten for $41 on amazon.com.

  493. I worry. One time I asked a flight attendant if she could check on my bag after a really tight connection. She said she had no way of checking and to always “have faith.” I always try!

  494. I worry about lost luggage. I don’t want to experience one of the many horror stories I’ve heard.

  495. Generally I am not worry because I travel mostly with a carry on. But on rare occasions when I am asked if I could check my carry on, I get worried. 🙂

  496. My policy is to get there early and not worry about lost bags. Hope it keeps working!

  497. No, I don’t worry about my luggage. There are probably more important and likely sources of worry that I still don’t worry about – like being hit by a bus on the way to work. If I worried about everything that was worth worrying about, I’d have no time left for anything else.

  498. I worry al lthe time about my checked luggage! Several times it has gotten damaged or lost. This is why I try to always travel with a carry-on.

  499. I don’t particularly worry about my luggage though having said that, Delta did destroy one package without compensation as I did not report it at the baggage pickup and instead called them hours later. It was Christmas Day and the flight was an hour late and my ride was waiting on me. Jerks.

  500. I don’t worry about my bags, because I have an old beat up Travelpro. Now, if I had a new Briggs and Riley bag, then I would look after it!

  501. Yes, I do worry that occasionally something will happen to my luggage on international flights.

  502. I worry something will happen when I am on a business trip leaving me with no appropriate clothes to wear for any of my meetings!

  503. After a wheel started peeling apart while schlepping my bag from the Airport Sheraton in Frankfurt to Lufthansa’s First Class Terminal – Yes!

  504. I worry more about the luggage than the contents. My bags have been through years of international and domestic travel with me. They’re like traveling companions so I’d be really bothered if they took a bad blow protecting my belongings.

  505. Of course, I am always concerned when parting company with my beloved baggage. Will we be reunited at our destination or will it become an international tracking mystery?

  506. worry my luggage will be filet open and the contents scattered over the conveyor belt

  507. No – I figure at some point it will get lost or damaged…..and did have a bag get badly damaged on Southwest earlier this year

  508. I don’t worry, stress is bad for your health. If my bags are lost, we’ll sometimes that happens.

  509. I don’t really worry about it too much. Worst case there’s allways a blog givin’ some luggage away:)

  510. Never check in, but know that B & R would take care of it if bags damaged. Don’t think their guarantee works if the bags are lost 🙁

  511. Yes, always when I have to check–looking out the window as they load the luggage makes you crazy!

  512. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage? In general, I just assume that there is going to be some wear and tear on my luggage, and I hope that it doesn’t get totally destroyed or lost. I only truly worry about my luggage if I’m flying internationally, have multiple connections, or I’m flying somewhere to pick up a cruise.

  513. Lost or mistakenly taken by another passenger (this has occurred to me) – yes. Damaged – not really.

  514. I don’t worry about damage to my bag, as it carries a manufacturer’s lifetime warranty. I’ve already had it replaced once, no questions asked.

  515. Last time I was worried was when I had an overnight layover in Bangkok. But everything was fine in the end.

  516. Not until the point of time the conveyor belt stops, and I am still waiting for it.

PS: Owning a Briggs & Riley would be tres cool.

  517. My only worry is that my bag/wheel will break and I will be stuck somewhere with a defective case. I rarely check luggage.

  518. Always worry! This hobby may bring almost-free travel but it is still not worry-free! My main worries – schedule changes that will mess up a many segment award ticket and how best to pack for where I am going – and that include whether checked bags could get lost.

  519. I worry about leaving something behind that I took out of the bag. That’s more likely than leaving the entire bag behind.

  520. Yes… but very little.

However, if I had to rank the Big 5 Luggage worries from Least worried to Most this is how it would look.

    1) Lost: sort of…but my credit card pays for lost luggage.

    2) Stolen: my credit card also pays for stolen luggage.

    3) Pilfered: funny thing is that nothing was missing except my lock when it did happen years ago.

    4) Damaged: someone at the airline is going to get an angry Tweet from me.

    5) Peed on by an Airport Security Dog: unlikely, but you never know.

  521. That my bag is damaged beyond repair and I have to buy a new one. I can’t afford the expensive B&R bags and my company does not reimburse for luggage – even though I only use the bag for work….

  522. I don’t really worry about my bag, though I try to have the basic necessities with me when I am required to check in my cabin bag. For all the years of traveling, I have never lost a bag, though there have been a few delays once in a while.

  523. I own there B&R items, so I only worry about my bags being lost. I know if there is any damage Briggs & Riley will stand behind their warranty.

  524. I used to but realize it is out of my hands. My luggage isn’t nearly as nice as B&R so maybe that helps.

  525. Never seriously worry about anything getting stolen since that hasn’t happened to us (yet); but we’ve had bags get off a plane in a lot worse shape than when we checked them in. Like literally falling-apart bad. I especially worry that we’ll get a bag off a plane in the beginning of a trip that is no longer usable (that’s also happened to use before).

  526. I don’t worry when carrying on… However,,, my biggest fear is when I take my expensive carry on luggage and have to check it… I fear it will get banged up and will not last as long when going through the rigors of baggage handling

  527. I typically only use a carry-on, as I definitely worry when I have to check luggage. I don’t mind so much if my luggage gets banged up a bit but I definitely worry about it being lost!

  528. I always think something’s going to happen (and lots of it has, especially when I check bags)–misplaced, lost, damaged, even had the [tumi] tag ripped off of one! But I don’t really worry about it, just assume it will happen.

IN the words of Alfred E Neuman, “What, me worry?”

  529. Yes I worry. They lost my bag on the way to Europe and we spent the week going back and forth to Amsterdam because it was “due the next day” Never did get it and finally bought some clothes and continued the trip!

  530. I sometimes worry about my luggage but mostly I worry about the stuff in it. Airlines tend to enjoy losing my bags when I check them.

  531. I always worry that my checked luggage’s latch/zipper will “pop” open and everything will fall out! My carry-on, no worries, though a functional and comfortable bag is certainly welcomed. Hint hint!

  532. I worry that someone else will pick up my bag, so I put stickers all over it to make it as unique as possible.

  533. I worry about not only my checked bag but my carry on as well. Locks help but aren’t everything.

  534. Never! Luggage is essentially throw-away when you can get a decent carry on for around $30 (thanks Amazon!)

  535. I do worry because my bags have been lost and damaged before and I’ve seen them being put on the plane while its pouring rain!

  536. Today I took a Delta flight from Florida to JFK, and for the first time that I can remember, my bag was the first one to appear on the carousel. So at least for today, I did not worry about my luggage.

  537. I worry…. too much!
Checking in: it will be overweight.
    Baggage claim: it won’t arrive.
Customs: that they will want to open it.

  538. I don’t worry; any damage has always been repaired at the airline’s expense and sometimes it is a convenient for them to deliver my luggage to me rather than having to schlep it from the airport.

  539. Of course I worry something is going to happen to my luggage. There’s no accountability or monitoring for baggage handlers and TSA agents so they can get away with anything.

If I only have a carry-on I’m not nearly as worried.

  540. Yes. I always check my bag…even though I’m a 100k domestic/year traveler. So, my bag sees some rough handling. It has been left on the runway and had to catch a flight the next day to catch up. It has been misrouted and probably has seen more of the world than I. It’s been ripped, torn, smudged….and probably spit on. Sometimes it hold up…sometimes it has to visit the luggage hospital. A quality bag really makes the difference and I’ve had my current one (Boyt) for over eight years. It isn’t pretty, but it is easily recognizable on the carousel

  541. Not damage, but always dread those TSA pieces of paper that means they went though my items…..ugh!

  542. I worry that the TSA will not close my bag properly after their random (??) inspection and things will spill out and get lost.

  543. I worry about my bag only on the way OUT. As I usually don’t put anything worth stealing in my checked bag, and since it can all easily be replaced, I worry only about not having my “stuff” when I get to my destination and the hassle it would cause.

  544. Any time we have to check, I spend most of the flight worried or consoling my husband, because he has terrible luck. Arrive in a foreign country for a long trip to find TSA has inspected his bag and repacked his freshly polished dress shoes inside his (now stained) shirt rather than back in his shoe bags? It’s happened to him.
That time when you are watching the carousel, silently praying that your bag will appear has to be the longest on any trip.

  545. When I travel I don’t fret that something will happen to my luggage. When I buy luggage I look for pieces that are well built and backed by a good warranty, so if something does go wrong there’s piece of mind to get it fixed.

  546. I typically don’t worry about my luggage. Apart from a few instances of bus / train travel abroad, I’m not usually concerned with carry ons or checked items.

  547. Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage? We’re going to China!!! Yes I am worried about my side of the road luggage. (means we found what we are using!)

  548. Depends on which airport i’m at. If i’m at an airport where they provide luggage wrap service (Dubai, South Africa, Malaysia) then I am more worried. Otherwise not so much.

  549. I worry that my hand-me-down luggage will bust a zipper, but I don’t usually worry about it getting lost or with having contents stolen.

  550. I only worry that TSA or baggage handlers tamper with the contents, but not the actual bag. I’ve used pretty low-investment bags up to now. With an @work bag, that may change though!

  551. Yes, I worry that my luggage will crumble and leave a mess scattered on the belt.

  552. that it does not end up in one of those giant piles (think haystack) of lost luggage that I have seen at Accra, Ghana (or was it Abuja, Nigeria?).

  553. I worry about what is missing when I see the bag has been opened. Nonetheless I am pleased to see the bag arrived

  554. Yes I worry everytime I check luggage especially if I have to connect
