Comment Here And You May Win a Briggs & Riley @work Bag

I’m a Briggs & Riley fan, my usual carry on is their Baseline CX bag. They’ve made a splash over the past month with a new bag, and I’ve arranged a giveaway.

As I explained last week, I have two different Briggs & Riley bags to give away (different bags for different reasons, they’ve “got your business and leisure covered” as it were).

Last week I gave away the hot new TORQ bag.

Of course Briggs & Riley is all about functional luggage, as much as I like the look of the new bags their bread and butter is the business market epitomized by their @work line.

Which of course comes with Briggs & Riley’s unrivaled lifetime guarantee.

Here’s how you can enter to win by commenting on this post. Given the strength of reputation for their guarantee, Answer the following question in the comments:

Do you worry something is going to happen to your luggage?

Here are the rules:

  • You need to answer the above question in your comment to this blog to be entered.

  • You may enter up to once per day — and I give you a bit of slack in this, I won’t disqualify any entry as long as you don’t make more than one entry per calendar day or as long as no entry is closer than 24 hours together from another one. And if you’re close, we’re cool. I’m not looking to disqualify people, just to make sure there’s no massive ballot stuffing.

  • All entries (comments) must be received no later than Thursday, June 13 at Noon Eastern time.

  • I will draw a winner at random in the days following the close of the contest from those that meet these guidelines. Make sure you provide a valid e-mail address when entering to be eligible to win (you do not need to leave an email address in the comments, but along with your name where it asks for your email that email must be ‘real’ or I will have no way of contacting you).

  • The winner acknowledges that this is a prize and is not for resale.

  • I’m the final arbiter in all matters related to this contest and in all matters of interpretation. There is no appeal. I’m doing this because there’s an opportunity to send out a pretty cool high-end bag, and not taking anything in return, so please don’t give me a hard time in the process.

Any questions? E-mail me. And hopefully the winner will also follow up with me to let me know their impressions of the bag.

  1. With checked in bags I worry about how long it will take for the bags to show up at baggage claim.

  2. i don’t worry that something will happen to my bag because i try to carry on every time.

  3. I’ve never owned a solid durable high end back, so yes, I am very concerned about my bag leaving a trail of clothing as it comes down the shoot!

  4. When I’ve brought wine back in checked luggage, I always worry it will break and ruin my clothes.

  5. I worry about damaged luggage since I rely on the luggage to protect the items I am carrying from being damaged — items that are essential for the purpose I am traveling.

  6. I am always worried something will happen to my checked luggage, which is why I am trying to be better at traveling with just a carry on.

  7. I do worry if I check my luggage. I’ve had it delayed and I’ve had it arrive to me with bits and pieces broken. I now always travel with a well packed carry on “just in case”.

  8. I worry more about things inside getting damaged than my actual luggage getting lost…not sure that’s completely rational, but that is how it is for me. Filing claims in either case is definitely not something I enjoy.

  9. When I worry about what will happen to my bag, I take out baggage insurance just in case.

  10. Sometimes worry that my gate checked bag will lose its gate check tag and it will disappear into limbo without any record of it.

  11. I always worry about my checked luggage. OTOH, I can almost always buy what I need at my destination if the bag is lost.

  12. Now that I know that I can always ask the airline for a “survival pack” in case my luggage is late, I worry less.

  13. I always worry since my luggage inevitably gets damaged.

I remember sitting in one of those lovely window seats in coach on a United flight out of Philadelphia and seeing the luggage trolley come out from the terminal to our plane. My bag was a florescent green color which made it easy to spot in the middle of the pile. As the attendant was unloading the first few bags there was an avalanche and mine ended up on the conveyor but with the handle snagged on something. As the attendants slowly picked up the other bags from the ground, the conveyor was doing its best belt sander impression on my poor green one.

I’m not sure what is worse… unexpectedly finding your bag damaged when you pick it up, or spending a 2 hour flight knowing that its damaged but not knowing how bad.

  14. I worry I won’t see it on the baggage belt at my final destination (particularly when I have several connections along the way).

  15. No, I usually go with carryons only and have had good luck when checking things in!

  16. I do worry some and try to pack accordingly. I will say I’m never surprised when something does happen.

  17. Worry? Meh. . . it’s kind of expected at some point. Lately we’ve been flying with folding bikes and there is always a TSA inspection ticket in the bags. I worry more that when they’re digging through the bags they’ll pull out the little bag of parts and forget to put them back. Often they’ll arrive in the expanded position (which would have made them oversize) because they can get them put back in properly. Just waitin for the day!

  18. I usually don’t worry, because I usually don’t check a bag. But when I do check a bag, I worry about broken souvenirs that I’m bringing back with me from some exotic location.

  19. I worry both when it’s leisure travel (usually have to check stuff that the kids say they need) and when forced to check for business travel (colleagues are quick to chime in with stories about having to buy a suit in a random rural town).

  20. I always worry that something’s going to happen to my luggage, but it usually relates to delays or the bag being lost!

  21. I worry my baggage will make it to Egypt before I do; I will of course, be on the way to London.

  22. Try not to think about it since the bag and its contents can be replaced but my time worrying cannot

  23. Definitely I worry about lost luggage as it happened twice on my way to a cruise. I now take it as carry on and then after buying souvenirs etc, I check in the luggage on the way home.

  24. I don’t usually worry about lost luggage. It is a bummer when it happens though.

  25. I am often concerned when I gate check a bag on a regional jet, because if the tag gets pulled off (if the airline even uses one), the bag might get diverted into the checked luggage pipeline and then lost.

  26. I don’t worry about my bag because it’s a Briggs and Riley and I’ve had it since 1999. It holds up to anything.
