News and notes from around the interweb:
- Freddie Awards Pick the Year’s Best Traveler Loyalty Programs
- Alaska Airlines lounges often impose capacity restrictions that keep out Priority Pass cardholders. Their solution to this is that effective May 1, Priority Pass will allow the cardmember access with no guests in Alaska’s Seattle, Los Angeles, and Portland lounges.
- OMG this emotional support pony in the bulkhead is wearing socks (HT: Paul H.) I’m not sure whether I hope this is a fake or desperately that this is real.
- British Airways flight diverts when a self-upgrading passenger refused to return to coach. You cannot, after all, call Chicago Aviation Police to drag a passenger off the plane when that plane is in the air. (In fact the flight was headed to Jamaica.)
- Is the TSA checking domestic airline passengers for warrants?
- Travelzoo is working on a loyalty program
- United picked the day they announced new procedures to avoid dragging passengers off of planes in the future, the day they reached a settlement with Dr. David Dao, to announce an end to their interline agreements with 5 Middle Eastern airlines. Because as United’s CEO Oscar Munoz has said, United behaves like an airline and Emirates, Etihad and Qatar “aren’t airlines.” Their lobbying efforts to ensure you fly United and don’t have options to fly competitor airlines from the Gulf region continues.
Gary, that’s not an ESA. Miniatures Horses are proper service animals within the meaning of the ADA, not the FHA (or ACAA)’s “anything goes ESA” knockoff.
Gary- You’ve flown enough UA Airbii to know that’s not the bulkhead or safety card!
It’s Spirit
Or is Tommy’s wife doing these round ups?
Never mind! Read the “and Unitrd still” in the headline and see it was talking about a separate item
I agree that the service miniature horse is on a Spirit flight and in a “big front seat” bulkhead. I get that this is likely a legit ada service animal but…. Does it get any better than this.
I can’t find any mention of that pony on twitter, and if I saw it I would tweet it, so I’m calling fake news. The danger here is that someone sees that and actually tries to bring on a pony for real.
Hi guys, after picking my jaw up off the floor I did a quick search. I guess this really happens. Check out: http://www.guidehorse.com/photo_lesser.htm. With my luck ill probably be seated next to one in the near future………winning
On the TSA checking for warrants article. Heck yeah I hope they are. Catch turn them over to local authorities I do not peoe with warrants on the plane I am on who knows what they are for or what they may do. A good to catch illegals, visa over stays and all kinds of bad hombres
At my workplace we receive a long ADA training. And we are taught about miniature horses as the lone exception to dogs as service animals. After hearing about the horses for years, the ADA trainer finally arranged for a real miniature horse to visit us.
It was a great day.
The “socks” are foot coverings used for the horses for grip since they don’t wear regular horseshoes.
