Etihad Reneging on Transfer Bonus, Changes Terms & Conditions Mid-Promotion

Late last month Etihad introduced a promotion, 25% bonus on transfers in from Citibank through May 15.

They appear to be reneging on the way that offer was presented, however.

The promotion is now listed on a different page of he website. And now there’s a new restriction listed in the promotion’s description:

What’s more, the terms and conditions of the offer now say that it’s targeted.

Unfortunately this is hardly the first time that Etihad has substantially changed terms and conditions mid-promotion.

  1. Agree that Etihad has changed T&Cs of their promotions many times in the past. They did accept the mistake fare a few months ago, but that was probably because they didn’t want the public backlash (or maybe because it was in the US, there is some law against that…don’t know).

    To compete with the main players, Etihad needs to “up their game”;
    1. from an inflight experience (ex Jet Airways from JFK-AUH…and still charging EY fares! as well as the utterly useless “flying nannies”!)

    2. post-flight customer service (a real response from Etihad customer service: “our gesture to you Mr. Passenger is that we will notify the relevant department of your disappointment!)
