Exclusive Photos: American Airlines Admirals Club Gets Subtle Facelift At JFK – What’s Changing?

An Executive Platinum reader reported with photos on renovations that started today at the New York JFK American Airlines Admirals Club.

American used to have two Admirals Clubs. The one one the main concourse was turned into additional seating for the Flagship Lounge-turned-Greenwich business class lounge that is shared with British Airways. The club on the midfield concourse remains open, and is seeing some updates.

Arriving around lunchtime, it appeared that the wall behind the midfield concourse Admirals Club check-in desk was painted off-white, with no American Airlines signage. The food area near the window line at the far end of the lounge was “tented off in plastic.”

In its place, food was set up in the lounge’s quiet room.

There are two soups, two choices of cold sandwiches, a small salad bar, water & iced tea, fruit, chips, and a snack mix. On the other side of the is the room’s usual coffee setup and dessert setup. The bar, in it’s usual place, remains open.

This is not a full renovation. We won’t see the lounge updated into the new American Airlines template, like the newest gorgeous clubs at Washington’s National Airport on the E Concourse, at Newark and also Denver. Instead the lounge is seeing some modest changes while remaining open.

According to an American Airlines spokesperson,

We’re updating the C gate Admirals Club lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to elevate our customers’ experience in the lounge. Customers will soon get to enjoy 24 additional seats with new lounge chairs and powered accent chairs, new dining furniture, and improved main server, café and bar areas. We’ll remain open while these updates are underway.

I would have loved to see a real renovation of this lounge during the pandemic, when the Greenwich lounge space was used as an Admirals Club. Now, with only one club open to Admirals Club members, it’s difficult to close down for a full facelift. Still, I look forward to seeing what the updates look like once complete.

  1. I already like this Admiral’s Club. I’m not sure about the evenings but in the early part of the day, it’s not very crowded and service is good.

  2. When is American going to pay attention to some of the really over crowded clubs or some that look like a dungeon. ATL on the dungeon feel. That extra carved out space at CLT C isn’t doing much, CLT needs another club, PHX is still a cluster you know what and whatever happened to the remodel and opening of MIA E to reduce crowding at D30?

  3. Probably going to minimize the space of that food serving area and add even more seating? There was like a deli/fridge thing there that I don’t think was used all that much.
