News and notes from around the interweb:
- The FAA Unruly Passenger Supercut.
Safety flies, bad behavior doesn't. Since 2021, the FAA has referred more than 270 unruly passenger cases to the @FBI for criminal prosecution. We can fine you up to $37K for each violation. Can you afford it? https://t.co/3C8ZRsuZyg #FlySmart pic.twitter.com/B53eeL4ez4

- American Airlines participates in first-of-its-kind research on contrail avoidance. I’ve written that the easiest way for airlines to solve much of their environmental emissions would be “to change the altitudes of the 15 percent of (U.S.) flights that fly in conditions that lead to the formation of contrails…a 4,000-foot increase would reduce it by 92 percent.” Real world you can’t get all of these flights higher by 4,000 feet – some already fly closer than that to their performance limit. But it’s an idea clearly worth exploiting. American’s version is.. more subtle.

- I don’t think I’ve ever seen passengers demand so much compensation after getting rebooked following an overnight delay as a result of weather cancellations, $2500 plus full refunds? $1,000 for lodging I guess almost makes sense on Martha’s Vineyard, heh.
[W]e are asking for a complete refund of our ticket costs, at least $500 in flight credit, reimbursement of up to $1,000 for any passengers who had to find lodging, and $1,000 cash for all passengers to cover the cost of food, transport, and emotional distress
- In fact, the difference between coach and business here isn’t just the curtain. While the seating is pretty sad intra-Europe (with British Airways you get less legroom than on Ryanair) most often there’s a blocked middle seat. There’s usually a more generous baggage allowance, lounge access, and on board food and beverage.
It looks like Alaska has discontinued their business options using miles on Singapore Airlines.

People are dumb for getting into anything negative while on a plane.
