First Routes for Qatar Airways 4-Person Business Class Suites Leaked

Earlier this month Qatar Airways debuted their new business class Qsuite which may be the new best business class seat in the world.

At the time of the unveiling, it was suggested that the first route to get the new business class suites would be Doha – London this summer onboard a new delivery Boeing 777-300ER.

Qatar plans to retrofit existing Boeing 777s and Airbus A350s with these new Qsuites. And they’re going to put a modified version of the seat into Boeing 787s and Airbus A380s.

Current thinking on routes after London were informally leaked by Qatar’s General Manager in Brazil to the Miles and Destinations blog there. The post is in Portuguese but Google Translate built into the Chrome browser makes these things much easier.

QSuites will initially be installed on the aircraft that make the route to London in July 2017. Then, Paris, New York, Tokyo and, finally, São Paulo.

These routes make sense for the most part as key business destinations and I’m thrilled to see a plan to roll out the seats sooner than later on New York. Since Qatar claims reconfigurations will be complete by the end of 2018, other routes won’t have to wait too long, though I would have to think that timeline will slip as its so aggressive.

  1. I have a feeling these new suites are going to make the cabin much louder with chatter as this configuration may make people feel like they are together alone in a room.

    Any extra convo will probably be more than accounted for by having closed doors vs an open cabin with less talking — I think you’re underestimating how loud airplanes are — even quiet ones like the 380/787/350. QR could further make the suite walls out of sound absorbing material if they’re clever and it would help more here.

  5. The open top doesn’t help with sound mitigation. Sound will bounce off the plastic ceiling surfaces.

  7. This concept will be a God send to families (that can afford them) with small, trying children (autistic / apergers). And obviously those who fantasize about group sex with ho’s but don’t have access to their own jet.
