I’ve written a bunch over the last couple of days about the EVA Air Hello Kitty program. The Star Alliance airline doesn’t just paint planes in Hello Kitty livery, they introduce service elements and minor details throughout the passenger experience that reflect the Hello Kitty concept.

As a general matter I prefer to give away anything I receive from travel providers, and I try my best to keep my home uncluttered.
Since I attended the launch event for EVA Air’s new Taipei – Houston service, operated by a brand new Hello Kitty 777 ‘Shining Star’ jet, I came home with a couple of items of swag. And I’m going to give them away here.

So… would you go out of your way to redeem miles to fly an EVA Air Hello Kitty jet?
Absolutely!! In fact I’m plotting my strategy right now. Sounds like a great daddy daughter long haul trip.
Yes, I would go out of my way to redeem so I could experience this.
I would LOVE to fly our granddaughters on a Hello Kitty flight; they love all things Hello Kitty. I just wish these jets flew a few more routes.
Made the start of the Hemmings Motor News Great Race, which was in Kirkwood, MO last Saturday. There were a handful of cars from Japan that are participating in the timed event. Didn’t spot any Hello Kitty stickers on those right side drive cars.

Depends on what is meant by “out of the way”…. If I was looking to book a trip and a Hello Kitty flight was possibility (even if it were a little more) I would definitely book it. However I wouldn’t book a trip JUST to try a Hello Kitty flight….
If was in the market for one of the routes I might go out of my way for the hello kitty plane. I have a daughter who would love it (and this prize pack.)
I’m a huge Hello Kitty fans! Definitely will for the experience.
Probably not.
Actually did change around some plans and arranged a flight on ‘Speedpuff’ from TPE-HKG last year – pretty clever marketing gimmick on Sanrio and EVA’S part
Yes I would. Innovation comes from the funniest places, and this looks like great fuel for the imagination.
no, a little too much kitty for me!
Yes, I love Taiwan! And its better than traveling on AA, Delta, United. The premium economy meals look better than AA business class.
If it was easy to book, I would consider going a little out of the way. The product seems soils… And I am sure it would add a lot to the entertainment value!
Burn miles not sure, but I did choose to pay to fly with the kitty in Aug.
I personally wouldn’t go out of the way for EVA airline… but because of my girlfriend, I would have to. I would probably visit the hub’s location first for a few days and then catch the hello kitty flight!
Growing up I loved Sanrio and still do! I would love to fly with Eva Air!
Not if there were better first class options available. I’d go with first class from many of the Asian carriers over this. But if limited to business class, then Hello Kitty it is! Too bad it looks like EVA doesn’t release much business award space in advance.
Yes. It looks fun.
Thanks for this Gary!!
I have gone out of my way, adding an extra segment on my itinerary just so I could fly on the Hello Kitty jet but unfortunately, due to a schedule change, I ended up on a regular jet. Boo.
Probably yes, I would like to travel with my girlfriend to Taiwan sometime later! She would definitely love these cute gadgets.
I am not sure I would redeem for this specifically, but I would pretty excited to find out I was flying on this plane.
Yes I would! Using IAH as my home airport means I wouldn’t have to position myself so it would be extra-easy.
I would totally do this.
Yes , If taking my daughter she would be thrilled .
Yes, it’s worth it for Hello Kitty.
Absolutely! I flew Hello Kitty from Tokyo to Taipei once, and it was a hoot.
Good Luck Me.
Yes! Without a doubt!!
I probably would and it helps that most of my family still lives in Taiwan which makes an Eva Air flight very practical!
Go out of my way to use miles for it? Probably not. But out of my way to fly EVA, sure.
No, I would not go out of my way. I would, however, be amused to find myself on the aircraft and share word of the unique experience with others.
I just redeemed for short-haul Hello Kitty business class. Looking forward to it!
Um, no, I would not go out of my way for this. Thanks for the giveaway though!
No, but as I live in Dallas, Houston isnt really out of the way to/from Asia
Dependent on the miles required, possibly. If it’s the lower amount, you bet. I’d fly to Taiwan and then continue on to the desired TPAC destination. It would be a trip.
Of course! It’d be a great experience for me and my friend. She’s obsessed with Hello Kitty!
My wife would absolutely love this jet, so yes.
I’m commenting since my significant other is still bitching about me not booking us on the Hello Kitty flight out of LAX last year.
That and the fact that she forgot to ask for playing cards on our EVA Royal Laurel flight out of SFO…
Have done it once and I’ll definitely do it again!
Of Course! I did it last year and have IAD-NRT-TPE scheduled this Christmas – Kitty on the short leg. Might have to change to the IAH flight.
I actually would redeem for a HK J class trip. ONCE. I love EVA’s J product and my niece adores Hello Kitty, she’d go nuts for all the swag.
Sure!
No I wouldn’t but I think my daughter would answer differently 🙂
Yes, and I have already done so in the past.
yes – anything for my daughters!
yes
If it cost the same as a non-kitty flight, yes, just for the variety.
I would fly EVA Air Hello Kitty plane again for the novelty
Would totally go out of my away. Already tried to last year when flying to Asia but could not get the dates to work. But I will make it work one of these days!
Yes! I think it would be a fun experience, plus I’ve tried Eva Air before on a non-Hello Kitty route and found it to be a great airline.
