My favourite post EVER. Surprised no CC links were auto-included though!! 😉
People are going to be angry about this!
About what? I published a post and then decided to pull it because more information is coming in on the topic and I expect to have a better more detailed take soon.
Apologies to anyone that is angry about this!
Plenti more coming your way
Peter comments,
Announcement today on new rewards platform Plenti from Amex.
Original post –
What is Plenti?
According to the trademark filing,
Administration of a customer loyalty program which provides the consumer the ability to earn and redeem points and awards across their favorite stores and services
American Express has becoming more aggressive in rewarding points for activities with various merchants like Uber.
American Express no longer has a shopping portal, where you’d earn Membership Rewards points for online transactions with a variety of merchants. They suggested initially it would be replaced with something else. Years later, could this be the ‘something else’ — offline earn and burn with shopping partners?
Could this be the broadening out of Membership Rewards as a currency earned for transactions with businesses other than Amex — becoming more of an all-purpose loyalty program the way airline programs have?
While Plenti.com is registered by “CSC CORPORATE DOMAINS” it directs to American Express nameservers.
Plenti has a twitter account though as of this writing it’s locked.
Does anyone know anything more about Plenti, or about the timing for what American Express may be thinking?
Seems like the original post (quoted above) would be in line with normal blog speculation – including the kind found on this blog. Why pull it, unless Amex asked you to? And if so, why not disclose that?
@Ed because I quickly discovered that the post was off by a wide margin, I’m working on the correct details and will have that together in a matter of hours.
Gary, I was joking above. Didn’t know that you had actually posted something and then pulled it.
