Limited Time: Increased Citi Premier Offer Adds 10x On Citi Travel Portal Bookings Through June 2024

I do not write about all credit cards that are available -- instead focusing on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same). The Citi Premier® Card is a great tool for frequent flyers to earn points quickly, and those points transfer to some great travel partners.

What’s new is that the initial bonus offer has just been increased. On top of earning 60,000 bonus ThankYou® Points after you spend $4,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of account opening, there’s a limited-time addition: earn a total of 10 ThankYou® Points per $1 spent on hotel, car rentals, and attractions (excluding air travel) booked on the Citi Travel portal through June 30, 2024.

That’s no cap on substantially elevated earning through their travel portal. It’s a good card for ongoing spend, too:

  • 3 Points per $1 spent at Gas Stations, Air Travel and Other Hotels
  • 3 Points per $1 spent at Restaurants and Supermarkets
  • 1 Point per $1 spent on all other purchases.

You can of course redeem points for gift cards or travel and whatnot but points can be transferred to a variety of frequent flyer programs, including:

  • SkyTeam: Aeromexico Club Premier, Air France KLM Flying Blue, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
  • oneworld: Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, Malaysia Airlines Enrich, Qantas Frequent Flyer, Qatar Airways Privilege Club
  • Star Alliance: Avianca LifeMiles, EVA Air Infinity MileageLands, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus, Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles
  • Non-alliance: Emirates Skywards, Etihad Guest, JetBlue TrueBlue
  • Hotels: Wyndham Rewards, Choice Privileges (1000 -> 2000!)

There’s also an Annual Hotel Savings Benefit: once per calendar year you can receive $100 off a single hotel stay of $500 or more (excluding taxes and fees) booked through

Some of you will take full advantage of this new limited time offer. And some of you will pair it with a no annual fee Citi Double Cash card to earn 2x on the spending that this card does not bonus, and move those points into your Citi Premier Card account.

  1. “Attractions”? we are renewing our Disney annual passes soon, is that considered “attractions”?

  2. Unfortunately not for air travel where I’m about to book some cash bookings for flights within India 🙁

  3. Important to note that transfers to QR are now Avios, so that unlocks access to all of the BA and IB flights via TY points.

  4. I’ve had the CITI TY Premier for many years. Unfortunately despite the fact that I spend tens of thousands on travel each year I have never been able to use the $100 off $500 travel because the prices on their portal was always much higher than the cost I could get booking direct – it would cost me more, even including the $100 rebate, to book through their portal :(. So it is a bogus benefit in my opinion. I’m actually not surprised because the annual fee of this card is $95 and to give away $100 for $500 travel spend is a loss for them. This “$100 credit” is just a trick and not a real benefit like what the CSR, FHR, and Cap1 provide.

  5. There is a serious IT problem with the Citi Travel Portal. For weeks now when you log on to the portal it only lets you book hotels, not flights or cars. If you click on flights or cars it just directs you to the hotel booking area. I have complained to Citi several times without anything happening. I thought it might at first have been a problem with my device, but I get the same on two laptops two desktops and two smartphones. Gary, can you take this up with Citi?

  6. Which OTA is the TA for Citi? This info is glaringly absent from the foremost expert.

  7. From the headline I thought that this was something Citi was offering for existing cardholders.

  8. @ Gary — I don’t think this truly counts as an increased welcome bonus. Most seasoned travelers will prefer to book directly and not deal with a horrible OTA, so I don’t think anything that is required to be booked through such an OTA can legitimately be considered a welcome bonus.

  9. Just got this card hit the bonus and transferred to BR and was able to book J to China for 75k points on the date I needed very sweet. All other programs show nothing. I’m sold.

  10. I received this as an upgrade offer from rewards+, along with 1st year waived a.f. Of course I took it, then promptly called to pc one of my custom cashes back into a r+. It took like 3 weeks for them to actually make the conversion though. Unfortunately not eligible for another premier bonus for quite a while
