The Missing Citi Points Transfer Partner

The Citi Thank You Points program — which long ago used to be one of my favorites — breathed some new life into the offering today with the introduction of airline mileage transfer partners.

Earlier today I listed (7) airlines that you can transfer points to:

  • Cathay Pacific AsiaMiles
  • EVA Air Infinity MileageLands
  • Etihad Guest
  • Garuda Indonesia Frequent Flyer
  • Qatar Airways Privilege Club
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
  • Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus

Those are the seven listed as partner programs.

But The Miles Professor points out that the help topic page lists an 8th frequent flyer program you can transfer to: Malaysia Airlines Enrich.

Is Malaysia a transfer partner or aren’t they? I do not know why the discrepancy.

  3. I would be slightly worried about a SQ devaluation soon. With Amex, Chase and now Citi as a transfer partner, it’s going to be incredibly easy to earn a large amount of SQ miles VERY quickly.

  8. I wonder if Citi is concerned about the financial health and future of Malaysia Airways. Given MH’s two recent tragedies, I can imagine that Citi might be hesitant to enter into a contract with a carrier that may go out of business.

  10. Maybe they don’t want to publicize a relationship with a “troubled” carrier (given MH17 and MH370)? They probably lined up the relationship and given the Ukraine incident, don’t want to put it on display? Just a thought.

  11. Gary, If one wanted to redeem on Singapore Air, does one need to transfers first to Singapore Kris Flyer and then book. or can one book and then transfer points over.
    I didn’t want to loose access to the points if I can’t the flights on Singapore I wanted. thanks,
