New Trailer for Upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator Reveals Boeing 747 Action

In June Microsoft announced that they would introduce a new Flight Simulator game, something they haven’t done since 2006. It will come in 2020 for Xbox and Windows. And I’m excited.

On Thursday Microsoft previewed some of the aircraft that’ll be available to fly in the game. This includes a Boeing 747.

And the game is so detailed it “draws on more than two petabytes of information, including high-resolution scans of landmarks like the pyramids at Giza and the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai, to create lifelike images for virtual pilots.”

They released a new trailer showing flight in the game, which will enter a closed Alpha release shortly.

I’m genuinely excited by this, although I worry I’ll spend way too much time on this. I don’t play video games, it’s not a part of my life. That might be about to change.

  1. That 747-8 shot is the money shot period. Beautiful. As a born aviation and computer geek, it’s hard to contain the excitement of this. I still have the 2006 version and also the version 3.0 for Apple computer from 80’s.
