News and notes from around the interweb:
- In the past several days I’ve had multiple people tell me their Chase Ultimate Rewards transfers to
United Airlines didn’t go through instantly (seemed to take about a day). I did a test transfer and points posted in a matter of seconds. Certainly seems ‘your mileage may vary’ at the moment. That’s been true for some time, I’m just surprised by the frequency with the reports lately since non-instant transfers historically seemed a fairly rare (though hardly non-existent) exception. - Singapore Changi airport will have better air filtration and UV-C disinfecting before most U.S. hospitals do.
- FAA considers pausing LaGuardia Airtran To Nowhere project one can only hope this white elephant is reconsidered but sadly that’s not likely to mean an actual train to Manhattan.
- There’s a credit card for an esports gaming team..?
- United no longer applies oversized bag fees to bicycles following American and Delta.
- The SkyTeam and Malaysia lounges in London Heathrow terminal 4 will not reopen
- 500 free miles for downloading the Miles & More app and logging in for the first time
Tell me the second thing you did after testing Chase transfers to United was to email these people back and ask them what the hell they were doing squandering Chase points at United?!? Haha
Wow the SKYTEAM T4 lounge RIP 2009-2021 got to know it as a Continental Platinum Elite – had the ‘oxygen bar’ gimmick. SKYTEAM really kept its word to being a force at Heathrow opening that lounge in the depths of the financial crisis.
I had a transfer take days. I was panicked as I need the points for a reward ticket. I think it may have had something to do with the number of points that I was transferring at once. It may be better to transfer smaller amounts at a time.
Not just United – I’ve had multiple transfers from Chase to Aeroplan also delay for 24+ hours (one is still pending) in the last few weeks.
I think there’s something going on at Chase URs. I’m a Sapphire Reserve person since they invented the product. Customer service has always been terrific, the few times I’ve used it. URs recently started disappearing out of my account and it took TEN DAYS to get someone at Chase to do something about it. Endless rounds of “I’ve forwarded your message and someone will get back to you in two days” plus even dumber responses. They now tell me it’s fixed, but it was a frustrating experience … kinda like dealing with American Express (shudder). So the instant transfer timing may improve by and by. I still have faith in Chase Customer Service.
