Airlines Are Still Bumping Passengers Who Already Boarded Flights, And They Aren’t Always Entitled to Compensation

When an airline substitutes a smaller plane than the one originally scheduled, airlines aren’t required to compensate passengers under DOT rules.

On a 50 seat regional jet (or any aircraft of 30-60 seats) DOT rules do not require airlines to provide involuntary denied boarding compensation at all.

American Airlines used to fly Nashville – London unsubsidized but the flight didn’t work economically, indeed American’s Nashville hub operation didn’t survive.

However it’s expected this new British Airways flight will be subsidized — and share revenue with American.
