Passenger Sees Their Cat Running Across Tarmac While Waiting to Take Off

A couple flying from Labuan to Kuala Lumpur on Malaysia Airlines were waiting to take off when they looked out the window and saw their cat Scooty running on the tarmac.

The cat had been traveling as cargo — no emotional support kitty here — and it got out of its cage and ran off. There’s video of the incident and the cat is in the top left corner. While perhaps an optical illusion the cat seems to disappear into a drain.

Airline staff came out from under the plane’s wing — carrying the cat’s empty cage, door open.

They delayed 10 minutes, searching for the missing cat, but then they simply continued on their way. Malaysia Airlines blames the passengers for failing to close the cage properly. They blame the airline.

I can tell you exactly how it happened. Someone opened the cage after the cat was checked in and didn’t know how to lock it back. Now we have a lost frightened cat hiding in a drain pipe on the runway.

Total time searching for the cat 10minutes then abort. No further information from anyone.

Here’s the couple’s full story from Facebook:

Comments

  1. No cat would’ve stayed in an unlocked cage for as long as it was out of pax possession. Ludicrous accusation from Malaysia Airlines.

  2. Unbelievable, how is this family supposed to get their cat back? I would be furious
