Register Now: Hilton’s New Global Promotion

Hilton has launched registration for its early 2022 promotion: 2500 bonus points per stay January 1 – May 1, 2022.

  • No minimum stay required and the bonus applies to your first stay, no nonsense like only bonusing you starting with your second or third stay

  • Must check out by May 1 to earn the bonus

  • The bonus is offered on award stays too – not just paid stays

I value Hilton points at $0.004 apiece. So 2500 points are worth $10. That’s pretty weak sauce for stays longer than one night, and for stays at premium properties.

On the other hand it’s pretty good for a one night stay at a mid-tier hotel, and useful for points redemptions because even award stays earn the bonus. Think of it as a 2500 point discount on redemptions. Overall I prefer even double points, and certainly prefer the triple points offers we’ve seen.

You should definitely register for the promotion – and do it now – because even if you aren’t planning to stay at all with Hilton during the first four months of 2022, you might find yourself surprised (perhaps you get stuck overnight at an airport!) and you’ll never remember to go back later and register. So get that part over with, because earning the bonus is better than not earning the bonus.

  1. @FNT Delta…Because life goes on and you take whatever you can…some folks make reservations way in advance and because certain features of the program change, you don’t quit…you adapt and move on playing/exploiting the next angle.

  2. @FNT Delta Hhonors elite status in US was weak to start with. About 6-7 years ago I stayed in Hilton Waikoloa Village as Diamond. Upgrade was an ocean view room and I was given two $10/day coupons instead on breakfast. I will be staying in the same hotel over the New Year Eve and, hopefully, I will be still getting an ocean view room, coupons for higher $ amount, and now +2,500 points because of the new promo. It will be an award stay so no resort fees.
Of course, there were exceptions for Diamond treatment even in USA, but if you go to the Big Island the only Hilton choice is between the Waikoloa hotel and the Hilton timeshares.

Right now I do not see a Marriott promo and Hyatt did not have a promo for a while and a new one would start only Jan 15.

  3. @cathy — you make too much sense, but I am afraid your wisdom will fall on deaf ears. @FNT has been all over the place with that same asinine comment wondering why anyone would do “promotions” for Hilton after it “devalued” elite status?

He’s apparently pissed because a notoriously lackadaisical breakfast benefit in the US, worth at most $50, has been limited, even though Hilton has extended his status for one year, extended his free night certs, extended the expiration of his points — benefits that are worth thousands of $$. Meanwhile Hyatt has only lowered the elite qualification requirements and does not appear like it will extend any free night certs.

See the clear lack of perspective and total failure to manage expectations?

  4. Marriott and Hilton’s offers are disgraceful

There should never be situations where customers earn more points on credit card spends than nights at property

Same for airlines. Crap promotions for direct booking but earn mega bonuses on credit cards

Care to elaborate, because you sound very confused, considering that until December 31, Hilton has a promo that is awarding 54x on nights at properties…which I assume most smart people will pay for with a co-branded credit card that awards the most point on revenue stays at properties.

If you are somehow referring to large one-time credit card signup bonuses vs. points earned on revenue stays then it’s even more confused…
