Great Japan Airlines Business Class Award Space, Use Your American or Alaska Miles Now
Using American miles to fly between the US and Asia can be a challenge for two passengers. Those based at the DFW hub have an even greater challenge — tremendous competition for award seats from other frequent flyers, and that most of the oneworld Asia service is on American which isn’t great about releasing premium cabin award space to begin with.
The Most Generous Airline for Carry On Bags Clamps Down
Unlike One Mile at a Time I don’t buy that the reason is many Alaska Airlines customers connect to other airlines with tougher carryon baggage allowances — that they are reducing how much customers can bring on board in order to “help” customers and make travel “easier.”
How to Use Air France as a Strategic Points Transfer Partner
Air France KLM Flying Blue is a transfer partner of all the major bank transferrable points currencies.

Where the American Airlines International First Class Award Seats Are
There’s a smattering of New York JFK – London Heathrow award availability for two passengers in three-cabin first class on American Airlines in April and May. There’s a smattering of Dallas Fort-Worth – Hong Kong availability for two passengers in three-cabin first class on American Airlines May through July. And a smattering of Los Angeles – Hong Kong availability for two passengers in three-cabin first class on American Airlines April, May and July through September.
However where space is absolutely best right now is:
FARE DEAL: Hawaii From $88.50 Each Way (Several Cities, Not a Mistake)
Alaska Airlines is running a sale for flights to and from California in April and May. That includes $99 Hawaii flights in each direction, good for Honolulu, Maui Kauai, and Kona.
The best deals are from Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose and Sacramento but Portland and Seattle have $139 flights too.
FARE ALERT: $362 Roundtrip New York – Hawaii (Maui, Honolulu, Kona, Lihue)
Alaska Airlines is selling Newark – Hawaii from $362. You can even choose which Hawaiian airports to fly in and out of, Maui, Honolulu, Kona, or Lihue. (Lihue, Kauai and Honolulu run about $10 more.)
Why United’s New $9 Early Boarding Fee is Really a Carry On Bag Fee
American Airlines began the race to charge checked bag fees. First it was a second checked bag fee, then fee for the first. It became industry standard with Southwest remaining as the outlier.
With passengers charged for overhead bin space they began carrying more onto the plane. With planes largely full for the past several years there hasn’t been enough bin space to accommodate everyone, leaving the last passengers to board having to gate check their bags usually meaning that they must collect those bags at baggage claim.
United Flight Attendant Grievances Shut Down at Change.org
On Friday United sent out a memo that they’re eliminating quarterly performance bonuses of up to $300 and replacing those with a lottery which fewer than 2% of United’s employees will receive anything from.
Employees are not happy about this change. A flight attendant created a change.org petition detailing grievances, but was forced to close it.
