American Airlines plans to ask the FAA to certify their new Boeing 787-9P with one fewer flight attendant, but has told their union this is just so they could operate the plane that way if they had to – it’s not how they’re going to schedule the aircraft (although I wonder if they would on any domestic or short-haul international segments the plane operates).

Barclays Cards To Disappear: How Citi’s New Exclusive Deal With American Airlines Will Reshape Your Miles Strategy
American Airlines and Citibank have entered into an agreement to extend their cobrand credit card agreement by 10 years. This deal pushes out Barclays, and makes Citi the sole issuer of American Airlines credit cards in the U.S. starting in 2026.

Union Demands 48% More in Dues From American Airlines Flight Attendants—What Are They Really Paying For?
American Airlines flight attendants will soon pay 48% higher union dues under a plan they’re being asked to vote for. The union is “calling this a dues restructure instead of a dues increase” even though dues will increase. They’re using this language because it isn’t just a single dues increase, but a system of automatic increases that raise dues 48% during the current contract.
American Airlines Is Shrinking Lavatories To Cram More Premium Seats Onto Its Biggest Planes—Meet Project Olympus

The one thing I value most from Executive Platinum is – I suppose – not something that many flyers factor when making their decision. As often as I’ve had challenges getting where I’m going with American, the ability to put backup flights in a reservation during irregular operations has made a huge difference getting me to my destination close to as-planned.

An important thing to know is that if you buzz because you’re boarding before your group is called, the gate agent can clear the flag on their screen and allow you to board. If you’re traveling with a family member or friend on a different reservation, for instance, it is actually policy according to the airline that you should still be allowed to board together in the earlier group.
AAdvantage Members Discover Their Pot of Gold: Aer Lingus Status Perks Are Here, Award Redemptions On The Way
Aer Lingus is an oddball airline. Geographically Ireland is well-placed for connections between the U.S. and Europe, in addition to serving a major tourist destination. They’re owned by the same company as British Airways and Iberia. However, they’ve historically had a stronger partnership with Untied Airlines than American Airlines.
American Airlines Abandoned Their Airbus A330s – Now Qatar Airways May Give Them New Life
Even though the Airbus A330-200s were parked four and a half years ago, that fleet is still only about 13 years old on average. It was larger in quantity and newer than the 9 orphan -300s which were certainly on the way out, even without the pandemic.
These planes were ex-US Airways, from shortly before taking over American, and had just been retrofit to offer premium economy before being parked.
