A Delta Air Lines Boeing 717, operating as Flight DL876 from Atlanta to Columbia, South Carolina was forced to make an emergency landing today after the cabin filled with smoke just after takeoff. The 25-year old ex-AirTran aircraft which was acquired from Southwest Airlines, had 94 passengers and 5 crew on board. Both the cockpit and passenger cabin became enveloped in thick grey haze.
Last week, Delta had more passengers than seats available on flight 1668 from Seattle to Palm Springs. A passenger reported that “there was chaos” at the gate, since not everyone could be accommodated – and the airline instituted a bidding process to get 5 people to give up their seats.
Delta says that while the overall culture and corporations are moving away from DEI, they’re leaning in. And they’ve banned a comedian from the airline for life after he tweeted a photo of a Delta flight attendant’s pride pin (he quickly removed the flight attendant’s face from his post) and used vulgarity.
There are going to be lawsuits, but call me crazy, maybe it makes sense to wait for more information to come out about the incident in order to form a cause of action. There’s a rush to the courthouse, though, for lawyers to lock in client representation:

A passenger is speaking out about their experience on Monday’s Delta Air Lines flight 4819 disaster. They were on board the Minneapolis to Toronto flight that crashed at the airport. The regional jet, operated by the airline’s wholly-owned regional carrier Endeavor, wound up upside down, with its wings sheared off. Everyone made it off the aircraft, though some of the passengers were injured including critically.
A flight attendant helps push passengers through the plane’s emergency exit, while people outside assist passengers getting off the aircraft. The flight attendant instructs passengers not to take anything with them, since that would impede the quick exit from the aircraft: “drop it!”

I don’t believe any company, in any industry, has paid out more cash profit sharing in nominal terms than Delta (ever).
Delta made international headlines, having to tell candidates for flight attendant roles that they need to wear underwear when showing up for an interview. It turns out that the airline is doing a lot more judging by appearance at hiring events.
