Japan Airlines 787 Strikes Parked Delta 737’s Tail in Seattle As Puerto Vallarta Flight De-Iced

On Wednesday, February 5 a taxiing Japan Airlines aircraft collided with a stationary Delta Air Lines plane in Seattle.

At approximately 10:17 a.m. Pacific time, multiple departments responded to an incident on a taxi lane between the S Concourse and the south airport maintenance hangars. The Japan Airlines Boeing 787 struck the tail section of a parked Delta Boeing 737 operating as flight 1921 to Puerto Vallarta.

Delta’s Massive Sky Club At Tampa’s New Terminal D Will Open Straight To Your Plane

Delta will be the anchor tenant for the new D terminal in Tampa, including a new Sky Club that is at least 18,000 square feet. Terminal design is at 30% completion, and is expected to be 60% done by May. The Sky Club will have back-of-house spaces for kitchen and storage, as well as an optional direct connection to one gate. Delta will receive at least six preferential-use gates in close proximity to the Sky Club. They will relocate from existing facilities to the new terminal within 90 days of notification that the new spaces are ready. Delta at ATL and American at DFW tower over everyone else. American is anchored heavily at a few fortress airports. United splits big capacity across several mid-continent hubs. Southwest is ubiquitous rather than reliant on just one or two big operations.

Both Los Angeles and New York JFK see strong competition among multiple airlines, which keeps the numbers for any single carrier below that of a fortress-style hub. JFK is slot-controlled, while LAX is gate-constrained.

‘Sorry, Not Sorry’: Delta Gate Agents Skip Processing Upgrade Lists While Only 12% Of First Class Seats Go To Elites

For the most part, upgrades have been tough to get because (1) premium demand has grown while the supply of premium seats hasn’t kept up, and (2) airlines have shifted their merchandising to take less money for those seats from any willing buyer rather than honor frequent flyer upgrades.

However part of the reason why Delta’s upgrade percentage is so low, it seems, is because gate agents at Delta just don’t process upgrades as reliably as they do at other airlines.

They were traveling on board Delta flight 2835, and she was concerned enough for her safety that the flight’s captain reported this to dispatch during the trip, and was requesting assistance and an escort for the woman who was going to stay on board initially during deplaning.
