Delta Just Raised Pay Again—United’s Union Flight Attendants Haven’t Seen A Raise In Five Years

Despite the uncertain economic environment – airlines are rapidly pulling their earnings guidance – Delta Air Airlines is giving non-union employees pay raises effective June 1. 4% increases in hourly base pay will go to ground employees and flight attendants, while a 4% pool for merit raises is established for eligible employees (some will earn bigger increases and some smaller).

About halfway through the trip the mom got up to change her toddler’s diaper. As she stepped into the aisle she felt a hand touch her backside. She glanced toward the man, assumed it was accidental, and continued to the restroom.

On returning she asked her husband to take her seat with the baby so she could use the lavatory herself. When she got back she found her husband pale and shaken. He asked, “How long has he been like that?”

A Delta Air Lines passenger and his three year old went to the mid-cabin lavatory on flight 68 from Taipei to Seattle. As they finished up, the lavatory door jammed and they couldn’t get out. They tried unlocking and relocking it, and pushing on the door, but it stayed stuck.

Glen Hauenstein offered during the carrier’s first quarter earnings call that they plan to go after the loyal customers of airlines that are trying to convert themselves into premium – like Southwest Airlines as well as Spirit and Frontier. They’ve had an elevated status match offer for Southwest elites, and Hauenstein says it is working.
